le gayOS... shes/he/it is beautiful

that would be fucking great

OSlets will never know how comfy macOS is

I use it almost every day at work. It sucks.

what sucks about it

youtu.be/mdRpgWYWCZg
OH NO NO NONONO

Trust me, I don't have enough free time to tell you everything. The package management is very very limited compared to linux, I have to pick between the app store/pkgsrc, which can't add repos, and homebrew, which conflicts with stuff like Xcode and breaks links. There's been a bug for years where unmounting an HFS+ encrypted drive would leave it unlocked and accessible for mounting. I can't remap keys, only key groups, so for example I can't remap left Ctrl, only both Ctrls - I'm sure there's a way to do it from a terminal, but it's far from "comfy". It freezes a lot during menial tasks, like opening Finder, this happens more on older Macs that we have, but still how the fuck does opening a file manager make the system unresponsive? Then there's the daily security hole - press a button to become root, encryption passwords written to plaintext logs, press a button to become root AGAIN.

I have used more macs than most people on Jow Forums and trust me, macOS sucks. It's better than Windows, but that was really never a big achievement.

Hey /fag/ can I triple boot my 2.8 G i7 iOS/linux/windows$ or should I just do iOS and a few brands of linux?

why do you need a minimum of 3 operating systems?

The family iMac cannot stop spamming gay porn randomly all over the screen . It even places a dildo in the office chair every freaking night.

>package management is very very limited compared to linux
I too prefer nix but homebrew has gotten pretty solid. idk what kind of issues you've run into using Xcode but why would you use that turd in the first place?
Just use Emacs. railwaycat/emacsmacport works just as well as on Linux.

>I can't remap keys
Karabiner-Elements can do everything you want and more. I have totally customized my bindings (e.g., I have a system-wide modal key layer when holding tab).

>It freezes a lot
The later releases of 10.13 have been solid for me, have not rebooted this system in ages.

Apple computers are the only ones that let me pick up qt twinks at starbucks.
Thank u Tim Cock.

I want to buy a 2015 macbook pro and put only Fedora on it. Is this a bit like buying a hybrid car and removing the electric engine?

Currently waiting my hackintosh-friendly wifi card getting shipped. I hope it's working in my laptop without needing to modify my bios since it's quite hard to do that in my laptop.

Attached: 1528689625087.png (326x271, 105K)

Ok so let's ignore the several security flaws:
>but why would you use that turd in the first place?
Mate, the Xcode app isn't literally just Xvode, it has a ton of cli tools I need. Yes, I'm sure I could install them all separately, but that's the opposite of comfy. I can't remember, but do macs even come with ssh with installing Xcode?

>Karabiner Elements
Seems cool honestly. Not being able to swap only left Ctrl and Caps Lock was Hell. If I ever have to use a mac again, I'll check it out.

As for the freezes, try it on a 2014 mac, it will get absurdly slow or simply freeze for no reason. I'm not talking about hard computation or animations, I'm talking about having to do a hard reset on an iMac because I tried to open Finder.

Another I remembered: the App Store would every now and then refuse to download an app. Sometimes I'd get an error window saying Null(0), sometimes I'd get nothing. I can understand that High Sierra was the Vista of macOS, but it really convinced me to forget about it.

one nigga wants hardware, one nigga wants OS. oy vey!

Holy shit this just in. Shit slows down when it gets old. Who knew...

>t. mactoddler that thinks his toyOS will ever belong on Jow Forums

How the fuck does a 2014 iMac freeze at opening Finder? And how does hardware "get old"? What, did the CPU rot?

>mac
Found your problem.

how will mactoddler ever recover?

How about YOU fuck off.
If shitty Thinkpad users get a general thread, so should macos

Wrong board.

A thread died for this.

This is a tired meme

Macs some with ssh, vim, emacs, man pages... pretty usable

tfw the "toy" laptop is preferred by the top-tier tech professionals in CA

This

KILL YOURSELF FAGGOT

>A thread died for this
Yes, an inactive thread with some stupid meme topic is archived. It had it's time in the sun.

No proprietary software should get a general.
/thread

A meme thread >>> a thread that is mostly people complaining about your horrible operating system. You are getting nowhere with this thread.

>t. triggered x200 memepad user

this is a shitty general
there arent even any links in the op, just a poor description of the os
why did you make this

> I have to pick between the app store/pkgsrc
Have you tried just finding the Mac OS specific variant of the software and dropping it in the Applications directory?

We are establishing a new tradition on Jow Forums, it's damn time that MacOs gets its a general

Macfag here. Please iterate me on Mojave improvements. Will APFS be released for fuse?

There already is a place you can go to talk about fagOS, basedboy.
>old.reddit.com/r/apple/

Fuck off Richard

thats not how you spell macOS

>providing an "old" reddit url while calling someone else a redditor
you do realize only long-time users do that, right?

I was making life easy for you. Old Reddit >>> new Reddit.
And I don't deny that I have a Reddit account, but the only subreddit I browse is Jow Forumsdeathgrips (the only good subreddit to ever exist) which I rarely do.
You, however, belong on Reddit permanently.

For workstation use, it does circles around Windows

No u, Steve.
OH WAIT, JOBS IS DEAD.
HAHAHAHAHA.

Unironically this. I work in the Bay Area at a FAANG and it's literally every engineer.

elon musk builds submarines now

cool

Journalists will still find a way to complain about him

this. there should be a proper mac general as well as a proper windows general for the sake of objectivity.

There should not be. No one post if you want this thread to die.
This thread is dead.

why shouldn't there be any? i see both windows and macos in the desktop/bst's all the time so it's not like everyone on Jow Forums are linuses and richards. people tweak everything so what's the deal?

Vim and ssh out of the box, without installing the Xcode package? I doubt it. I know I installed Xcode to get a cli util and I bet it was ssh.

>Just download every single program from the internet
At that point I might as well be using Windows. I'll stick to Linux.

r/deathgrips kind of sucks though.

>global menubar
>miller columns
Are you implying these are bad things?

NSString *milf = @"Your mom";
NSRange range = [milf rangeOfString:@"mom"];
if(range.location != NSNotFound)
{
NSLog(@"your mom found at %lu", range.location);
}

>Best hardware available
lel

So why does the world's most advanced OS come with an outdated version of Bash and let anyone log in as root without a password? Mac OS X is horse shit. You're either retarded or a shill if you think otherwise. Mac hardware is also overpriced off the shelf Intel shit with no ports and keyboards that shit the bed in the 3 months.

Did this closed ledditor just turned himself in?

Which non-mac laptops run MacOS the best?

r/deathgrips does suck, but there are a lot of images of the boys there though.
My Death Grips folder is huge because of that sub.
So I browse it occasionally.
Bruh, r/deathgrips is basically /mu/ minus all the bad metal and k-pop music.

Do you think this guide will translate well to the x230 w/ removed wifi whitelist?

Until you want to do something as simple as add RAM

2GB ought to be enough for anybody

>16gb ram from factory
hurr durr I can't upgrade muh ram, how will I play AAA games on this MacBook

This is what perfection looks like, in case anyone was wondering

Attached: IMG_0493.jpg (5616x3744, 2.27M)

Sure, as long as you have Intel CPU.

muh intel

>laptop
>perfection
Pick one.

I guess I should clarify
>13 inch laptop
>workstation
>perfeciton

>upgrading RAM in 2018 on a laptop

Half this board are mentally stuck in 2005. Here's a pro-tip; a laptop bought today will NOT be revived from the edge of unresponsiveness 10 years later by adding more fucking RAM. RAM is no longer the bottleneck you retarded fuck. How does this 'technology' board not understand that? Its all you faggots with ThinkPads from 2008 isn't it. None of you know what modern hardware even looks like or how it works.

These days, you get what you need at the time of purchase. A 16 GB MacBook Pro will not suddenly become much better and faster with 32 GB. Unless you're running multiple VMs at which point your CPU will be the fucking bottleneck in a laptop before RAM is.

You're a fucking idiot and so are the rest of you tech-illiterate "muh ram upgraed" faggots.

This could work. Mac OS on /toy/, Wangblows on /v/, and GNU+Linux and BSD on Jow Forums.

Do wangtards still just download shit from random, shady websites? Why don't you have a good package manager yet?

M$ store exists for reason but autists dislike it.

well it's dogshit

So it's just like windows?

it's par for the course, yes

Pressing S to shit on that keyboard

Pressing M for Mummy Su to bleed on that keyboard

I got this 2011 Macbook from my company as work machine, is there anythung special about it? Why shouldn't I use one of my Thinkpads at work?

Nobody mentioned the best reason macOS is superior
>brew
>brew cask
>excellent package management for both cli and gui apps
>you can export your app list (Brewfile), making migration a breeze

Macports > homebrew

fink > macports

>no support for PowerPC
It's shit.

Why did they give you a machine from 2011?

Why? I've used brew for years across many machines, it's great and the packages stay current.
>complete support for 100% of the gui and cli apps I use

because nobody used it and I'm new, this was my first week

Who are you quoting?
