any recommendations for web dev in the 2018 the year of our lord?

This, if nothing else.

Attached: sf.jpg (800x483, 101K)

>any recommendations for web dev
Yeah, don't.

too late, I can't go back, I have rent to pay

beside on specific langs/frameworks/tools and in general on networks dunno what to read on
the 'never let engineer to do a serious UX and UI design' meme is real

this
and this

Damn I'm so glad I don't have to go to that Jewed up Jow Forums board anymore. All of my friends are here now!

>cs.umd.edu/~jkatz/imc.html
Introduction to Modern Cryptography is very good. I recommend.

Doing starting strength or stonglifts, paired with reading culture of critique and nassim talebs books, will male you the unrivalled alpha of the cs department.

I took this guy's intro to crypto course when I was at umd and he made the tests open book. I have to respect his devilishly jewish move.

it's alright. it goes over the main point a few too many times, and Taleb is an obnoxious asshole who is hard to read.

For those who havent read Taleb start with the first ones (Fooled by randomness and Black Swan) then this

Based user

why?

It teaches many social life skills in the form of a pretty intriguing and well paced story. There's a lot of small skills you can pick up from it about meeting new people and making good impressions, management, and most importantly, picking up women.

I'd say is also a good pick for most CS students.

Huh, interesting

Or you could just teach yourself.
Going to school for CS or engineering is for those that lack the willpower to teach them self

you need some sort of paper

This You can always learn by yourself and just go to ace tests

>Or you could just teach yourself.
Why do you think he's asking for books

the true patrician's way

be the change you want

W-what are people on Jow Forums referring to when they say "teach yourself"?

Apostol Calc.

Great book. I learned proper form and beginner stuff from this book. Also pic related, if you want to go further

I just started reading this. I thought it would be more basic. But did get a happy surprise. Lots of info and research done. Would recommend

You will stall quickly with starting strength because the progress is unrealistic. And it's veeeeery boring.
5/3/1 is a lot better and it gives you a lot more realistic progress.

If he was teaching himself then he wouldn't be a CS student

Come up with everything independently from scratch apparently :^)

There is an .epub version now, but of course tables are completely fucked up.
I'm glad my school library has a lot of copies of it, they are usually available.

5/3/1 is shit do GSLP instead

>and most importantly, picking up women.
Learning pick up from fucking Clinton, srly?
>I'd say is also a good pick for most CS students.
Thanks for confirming being a troll

I'm actually 100% serious, but I guess that's a foreign concept to someone that spends most of their life on Jow Forums. IT people do have a hygiene problem, you'd know this if you ever worked a bit in the industry.

can someone tell me which of the often suggested books in these threads are ones people respect and admire but never actually read?

Sure

>implying any of the brainlets on this board could even begin to appreciate the pynch

I tried to read gravity's rainbow but found it way too boring
And it was in my interest to like/finish it because then I could talk about what a masterpiece it was to unenlightened people

I didn't really enjoy it either, like I could see how masterfully crafted it was but I just didn't find it very enjoyable to read. Also since it's the 21st century the theme of
>dude corporations are bad brah
wasn't super interesting.

The starting strength of Jow Forums is SICP
The starting strength of /ic/ is Loomis

every year I say I am gonna spend my summer learning new stuff but then I just end up shitposting and wage slaving

>Caveman Chemistry

Those books are too big brain for nu/pol/.

shitty pua book.

while it does have some pua content, but reader should focus on the down to earth bits.

This.
