Librebooted X200 are god tier machines

second for x60 running win10

I can't get the bluetooth to work on my X220T
I can't find it in my device manager, I have tried Fn + f5 but that only enables and dissables airplane mode. It is enabled in my BIOS and the green light for bluetooth only ever comes on during bootup

Any help?

If you install windows 7 bluetooth would start to work agin. You need to buy new bluetooth card or a dongle ifv you want bluetooth in Windows 10

What's wrong with the 420 1600x900? I have a 430 1600x900 did I fuck up?

What the fuck were they thinking with the t440p trackpad? I'm constantly left clicking when I mean to middle click. Driving me fucking nuts. It's going to take like 2 weeks for the chinks to ship me the t450 one.

Every French Canadian girl looks like that. They make them in factories now.

kek
My first X200 was so mint it came with the original plastic wrapping
30 bucks
honestly the only memepad I really got kiked on was that X201
It was almost 200 with shipping (not too bad for 2015 and it came with the dock). It only lasted 2 years too and it was pretty worn out.
I just got 2 X200Ts for 50 and 15 though so I guess that makes up for them.

T420 vs Dell E5450 what buy?
I need a laptop that I can shitpost with, and a cheap T420 would fit the bill perfectly. Except for the shitty screen. And I'd have to buy extra ram. But there is a fully equipped E5450 on sale with 5300u and 16gb ram and 1080p screen that won't cost that much more than fully upgrading the T420. But then the CPU is soldered and if that shit breaks I'll have to spend more to fix it. Also no egpu if I wanna game on Loonix. What would Jow Forums buy?

She betrayed us.

how are your thermals on the elitebook with that QM cpu?

Install the Thinkvantage Acces Connections soft.

I want one, but i'm a bit at a loss? I feel the T430 would be the best for general purpose? I just don't know where to look, i'm from france btw.

t430 is bad
t420 is the last good one

t60 is the last safe one (possibly t400 if you really know what you're doing)

In what world is the T430 bad?

>is the last good one
Why is that?

Attached: 1491588662431.jpg (250x250, 33K)

T440p is better, avoid anything without an IPS screen or you'll get eye cancer.

did I fuck up getting this for $200?

Attached: Screenshot_20180707-204737_Samsung Internet.jpg (1160x280, 123K)

The 1600x900 display is TN, only the 1080p is IPS. You can get a 1080p on ebay for like $50, you should order one immediately. Also, the trackpad on the t440p is trash. Fortunately, you can swap it out easily for the t450 trackpad, which is like $15-$20 on eBay. You should order one of these immediately as well.

You should also get an SSD, but you probably already know that.

Anyway, that's pretty good for $200.

I cut it out on accident. It's a T430, not T440p

Oh disregard then, don't know dick about the t430. I should probably check more than one post back to see what people are talking about.

$200 for those specs seems exactly as it should be, you did good

It looks solid to me. Highly moddable and customizable which is always a good thing. My only concern is that I severely overpaid.
medium.com/@n4ru/the-definitive-t430-modding-guide-3dff3f6a8e2e

I think it's alright for the price but i wouldn't have bought that, the nvidia dgpu is a hindrance, the screen is shit and that fake i7 is barely different to the i5s.

I can always disable the Nvidia gpu. I'll probably mod the screen eventually too. I was looking at this kit but I'm gonna do more research first

lick it

Would've bought the X201 had I not known the garbage screen so now I'm just lurking for an IPS X230

I was gonna do that but I settled for a 430. Hopefully I don't regret it. I'll probably get it the Alienware panel soon

Hi guyyssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

What OS do you install on your lb x200?

Isn't every x220t multitouch? If not how would one know if seller doesn't mention? I'm interested in getting one x2xxt series for drawing. Any recommendations appreciated.

Where can I buy both the ips pannel and board for the 1080p mod for the x230?

Is there a guide to make the battery life not-shit on Linux?

>IPS: ebay
>Board: google "nitrocaster"
use xfce or a wm like i3 or bspwm

Xubuntu with linux-libre kernel

Attached: xubuntu.png (600x500, 35K)

I recently bought a Dell E6230 on eBay that the seller claimed the screen did not work. When I received I instantly 'fixed' it by press in the projector hotkey. Good cheap laptop that does just enough (ssh into various servers) for me.

Wangtard.

If you’re on W10, install tpfancontrol. I had the same problem with my T420 and discovered this by coincidence

Can I use the samsung 860 evo msata on my x230?

pull out the clit and use a thin tool to scrap off the dirt. Then use eartips and an cleaner of your choice to clean the keys

>use xfce or a wm like i3 or bspwm
the literal fuck.

yes.

Hey, Jow ForumsThinkPad poster

why clean it? Just let your own cheeto dust cover the former Jow Forums-user's cheeto dust. that's what i did desu

Any other fans of the 51nb motherboard upgrades on? What kinds of things do you wish they had that they don't?
For me: be able to put an internal battery in the SATA bay

Just copped this: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/163139124375

How likely am i to have computrace on this thing

I'd give you about 10% odds or less. These guys look hypey but not incompetent.

>What kinds of things do you wish they had that they don't?
Modern motherboard for the X61t, i don't give a fuck about the price there's not a single upgrade from this thing.

>Modern motherboard for the X61t
Oh, good call. The X61 and X61T aren't that far apart, and I know a few people on the German forum modded their X62 into a tablet version, but they didn't turn it into a kit.
That's a good idea.

>>x220 i5, good shape, would sell
>>x220 i7 ips, shit shape, broken dp port, idgaf travel laptop
These are the tablet-ish ones?
How do you like them? What resolutions do they come in, and is the IPS a factory option, or something you modded

dunk the keyboard assembly in 99.9% lab grade alcohol

>Isn't every x220t multitouch? If not how would one know if seller doesn't mention? I'm interested in getting one x2xxt series for drawing. Any recommendations appreciated.
Also interested in this.

last one with nice keyboard

X220t is multitouch. At least mine is.

Why was there a latch to open the lid for older thinkpads? Do new laptops' lids in general open up by themselves and/or break easily when dropped or something? I know nothing about laptop hardware.

>Why was there a latch to open the lid for older thinkpads?
If the lid pops open, the machine wakes up.
You want that to go down in your backpack/briefcase?

Ah. I thought students or businessmen just turn the laptop off before putting it in their bag and turn it back on whenever they get to their destination and need to use it.

[also, damage to screen, keys, whatever. Once upon a time, people expected laptops to not catch on fire, explode, or sink into the swamp if tossed into a bag]

...or worse, *get scratched*...

I just ordered a T420 8GB 128 ssd for £165 ($220), was this a good purchase?

Also do I need to upgrade any hardware?

It should arrive on Wednesday and I'm planning to install Linux Mint Cinnamon on it.

>Anybody use 9-cell+slice? How many hours can you get?
on which fucking machine? Any mods?

Anyone experience an R61? How's it? Probably going to buy one for $40 and put manjaro i3.

Do any of you have any experience with the IPS Mod for the T420/T430?

Is it true that that it can cause screen flickering or have the kits corrected this issue?
