Best screenshotting software?

Best screenshotting software?

Attached: sharex.jpg (460x215, 50K)

I use greenshot on Windows.

Grab.app
scrot

Win+PrtScrn

Spectacle con plasma

PRT SC (or ALT+PRT SC)

then XnView "import clipboard"

Super+Printscreen

too many functions for my taste

Wtf is a screenshoting software? I thought that printscreen was the way to go

But then you have to screenshot, save and trim the pic. If you use sth like XnView you can trim it right then and there and upload.

But you just posted it.
ShareX can even make gifs. Good software.

>GNU/Linux users post over-sized PNGs
Big whoop!

>can even make gifs
THATS NOT WHAT A SCREENSHOT IS SUPPOSED TO BE YOU DOUBLE NIGGER

you're talking about screencast software now

Fucking Linux users. Why not use a normal OS like Win 7?

Win+shift+s

>over-sized
actually, they are screen-sized.
if you're referring to file size, then that is simply because PNG is a lossless format and the proper format to be output by screenshotting software.

PrtScr to copy to clipboard
Paste into irfanView if you need to edit it

Take the moment to make a decent JPEG at level 90

Is it better than xnview

idk, IrfanView has the basic things I need (paint tools, cropping, resizing, etc.) and I like the keyboard shortcuts.

I was watching a youtube video one day it was called 10 most useful unknown windows tricks and it only had a couple views. it was some 20 year old asspie with a nasally voice and in it he used windows snipping tool to make a screen shot of a simple window then instead of clipping save as he opened mspaint and pasted it into there then saved it while that could all be done within windows snipping tool.

scrot

Because Windows 10 is a direct upgrade and isn't going EOL soon.

Because we aren't retards.

"""people""" using anything other than ShareX on windows deserve to be gassed

>shilling this hard
calm down lad

neofetch --scrot_cmd 'gnome-screenshot -w' -s

>not writing your own

escrotum. It's like scrot, but works better, and can store the image in your clipboard with the -C argument.

bloat

Win+PrtScrn
or
Snipping Tool

Greenshot. Being able to quickly highlight screen regions is really useful.

Definitely ShareX.

Attached: 1518336053498.png (1278x964, 180K)

But greenshot is a boomer thing. Why aren't you using gyazo?

>I am too retarded so I need bloatware to give me a convenient toddler proof way to do something the OS already does

you're the cancer of Jow Forums

I'll be honest m8, Greenshot comes on Ninite and I'm too lazy to download anything else.

Found the guy who has never shared a single screenshot. Only a retard would claim that the screenshot tools built into OS are fine.

uguush

Ninite is for losers

PicPick on Windows has been my favorite so far.
Shift + PrntScrn for region selection, Alt + PrntScrn for active window, Ctrl + PrntScrn for window component, no modifier for entire screen. Has a built-in editor.

ShareX is a malewareattack just waiting to happen. Far too connected

I use ScreenshotCaptor, feels safer.

>screenshotting software

It lets me set up PC's quickly. Therefore saving me time. Time which I can spend doing things I enjoy. I don't see why wanting more time to do the things I enjoy makes me a loser, user.

His clipboard manager doesn't even have optional screenshot plugins.
Wew lad.

i have greenshot region capture bound to prtscr. i don't use any other features of the software.

i just use my phone desu

are there linux and osx equivalents?

scrot or imagemagick

instant upload to imgur and the link is on clipboard, can select area and everything if i want
comfy af

bindsym Print exec scrot -e 'mv $f /tmp/ && gimp /tmp/$f'

>windows
hit prtscrn or alt+prtscrn for a window, paste it to Paint of literally any other image editing program, save and share

>macOS
command+shift+3, creates a png in your desktop automatically, ready to share

>99% of linux distros
hit prtscrn, creates a png in your images folder automatically, ready to share

SO

I

CANT

EVEN

>sharing stuff
>implying you have contact to other people

you need to go back

Not special software, but I use windows key + shift + s

>shilling an open source project

(((you)))'re the problem

Snag it is best in class.

Windows Snipping Tool

Ok so it's between greenshot and share now. Which is better?

Lightshot

>t. open source shill

Linux screenshot software is amazing.

Yeah, now do that multiple times a day. It's clear that you've never actually taken a screenshot.

>Capture screenshot
>Open image editing to paste it in/crop
>Save image
>Open image hosting site
>Upload image
>Copy link
>Share

or

>Press shortcut key
>Click on area that you want to screenshot
>Share

nigga you literally just described the snipping tool.

Stop defending your mediocrity

ctrl + windows + s

hell yeah. so good

Attached: you.png (206x155, 31K)

When it works

Since when does snapping tool upload the image you fucking retard?
With every built in screenshot tool you still have to manually go and upload the image. That's my entire fucking point.

scrot

jesus christ and you have to do that DOZENS of times a day? they should pay you double!

>I'm mad it has many features

spectacle is pretty good
is there a way to allow drawing on it before like if I want to circle something for someone?

>using ancient technology like .gif
other than the obvious fact that you need to kill yourself, you should realize that you can simply record your screen and h264 it with your container of choice and stop being a fucking retard.
Thanks

If you google it, it's the .net site, not the other stupid shit.

Sorry I forgot. YYYY.MM.DD

>year first
mah nigga

As far as sorting goes, it literally just works.

Ctrl F
No puu.sh results
What happened? Wasn't it the go too software back in the day?

After malware fiasco, people prefers to use sharex then upload it with puush.

Screencloud

>Ctrl + F 'Gyazo'
>1/1
Wtf ya'll crazy

puu.sh has handed over the software responsibility over to sharex. They still exist as a provider for the server that sharex uploads to.

>ctrl-F
>no PrtScr+Paint.net
Jow Forums has really gone downhill

It just werks™

scrot can be told to save to a particular dir without moving it

Nice non argument you fucking boomer. You're arguing against a quality of life program that takes a mundane/repetitive task and makes it piss easy.

kazam, all year every year

spectacle is shit desu.

Alright boys OP here.
Just went ahead and tested everything recommended ITT (except Linux stuff because that's a dumb meme OS).

Verdict:
Lightshot - 0/10; awful interface
Greenshot - 7/10; user friendly but not single stroke capture, save and upload
Puush - 8/10; all of the above but deduct 2 points because of virus
ShareX - 9/10; all of the above but creates a bunch of unncessary files in your %appdata% and elsewhere
XnViewer/Infra - 0/10; might as well use paint

What does Jow Forums think of PicPick, Snipaste and Nexshot?

Picpick was the software that could work under fullscreen video games 70% of the time

>Windows
prtscrn if you want the whole screen
ant+prtscrn if you want the current window
snipping tool if you want a rectangle
>OSX
cmd+opt+3 for whole screen
cmd+opt+4 for current window
cmd+opt+4 then space for rectangle
>Linux
scrot or spectacle

With prtscrn you have to crop the image with an editor like paint. Greenshot/ShareX lets you do that with one keystroke.

xfce4-screenshoter
feature complete and simple
10/10

Then you press alt+prntscrn to capture the current window only - can you not read?

>sharex
>bloat
Nigga it uses 1.6MB RAM on idle and zero CPU. For the fuckload of shit it packs, that's pretty damn good. I doubt the vast majority of Jow Forums could hack out a software that used less than that amount of memory with half the features.
