Reminder to protect your speakers before you plug in your "shiny new" vintage amplifier.

but they come with protection chips too

What are some turntables that people use?

Attached: 4eb2dc444befc36e59948.jpg (600x600, 38K)

those things cost over 9000 times more than the vintage hardware. modern good audio is only for rich people.

I use a Pioneer PL-400

How does it do with daily use. Found this transparent one.

Attached: 442211.jpg (1320x880, 192K)

I don't use it daily, due to my limited record collection, but it holds up pretty well.

more like:

good stuff regardless of age or price >
junk new or old expensive or inexpensive

especially in equipment that has a lifespan of 30 to 50 years

>turn the 14 kHz band all the way down to -20dB
>can't hear any difference
>turn it up to +10dB
>can hear previously inaudible parts of the music
anyone have anymore cool boomer audio tips?

Attached: 1530950994844.gif (1000x640, 127K)

Well, thank you.
I'm not really that huge a fan of vinyl for the sound.
I just like the idea of something spinning and gears clicking and pivot arms going this way and that.

I like speakers

Attached: 1526434520723.jpg (1000x1000, 108K)

I have a Technics 1210 I bought off some bedroom DJ that grew up. I actually got a pair since he was selling them as a package, then gave one to my dad.

this is a joke right?

I hope so

No, it's real, like erectile dysfunction and male pattern baldness.

We're looking at adequate to good systems, which should match most headphones and also have soundstaging and dynamics.

Also, many people on /g don't make a lot of dough, are mobile, and are wary of non-headphones or non-active speakers.

Attached: DhJnGb6V4AA_UT2.jpg (901x1200, 180K)

Attached: 30.jpg (960x384, 216K)

If you are mobile and want to take your audio with you, then you should use class D compact amplifiers or just active speakers.

ive never even seen most of these recommended here, certainly not unironically.

reed 1c + 5t

And, can you put together a system with those for under $50, without the hum and noise floor problem.

Two small passives and one 20# amp isn't a deal breaker in terms of mobility.

17K turntable without tonearm?

Attached: laser guided tonearm.jpg (1600x1200, 268K)

5t is the tonearm

i didn't include the price of the tonearm yet

Why do poorfags who lack golden ears feel the need to antagonize those who don't share their troubles?

Probably not. But why not spend more anyway? Whats the point of mobility if you cant afford better stuff?

What speakers should I get for my Civic 2018?

Attached: 20yoboomer.png (691x464, 163K)

It's a 2018, most cars have good enough audio systems out of the box. I find car audio kind of a waste of money now. In 2002 or something it was different. Not saying you won't get an improvement, but, for what you spend get some gear for at home where you don't have all the problems that come from speakers in a cabin and road noise.

Okay, let me put it this way. I want to melanize in my car.

Look into JL Audio then. If you want to save trunk space I unironically recommend their W7 8".

Thanks m8

No problem. If you want to go a more cheap and more black you can get Memphis Audio, don't get their bottom line but their higher end (it's still cheap) 12" subs are okay and can take a reasonable beating.

anyone know what this socket is called?

Attached: ignore the dust.png (1280x720, 853K)

found a manual online but it either doesn't mention it or i'm retarded

>why not spend more
spending more when theres no need to spend more - are you using macfag mentality?
>whats the point of mobility if you can't afford better stuff
inexpensive speakers small enough to fit in a shoeboxe now have output fidelity better than most headphones

is that a boombox

says the retard that puts his all digital setup on a spike rack.

That pass is godtier tho.

holy fuck that looks good.

What if you provide a NAME and MODEL NUMBER for the device?

might be this which means your unit is old-ass spec

why did speakers start using bare wires instead of connectors like that in the image

the whole rack has spikes was i supposed to buy a 2nd rack for just the digital stuff?????????

BTW GUYS, I heard apple speaker 2day at appel store, sounded decent for bluetooth speaker, actually by far the best sounding blue tooth speaker ive heard, its interesting how it automatically adjusts the volume and eq based on where you place it, the bass was much more decent then even those giant sony bluetooth speakers. however i would never buy or reccomend such a thing unless bluetooth was 100% needed, 1. you still need to plug the thing into the wall and 2. bookshelf speaker would cost more and play better. so all in all, no the homepod is actually horrible do not buy bluetooth speakers, period.

How are these?

Will I notice a difference if I fill my speaker stands full of sand?

Is this your system, with the invertible tonearm?

And does it have speakers, or no speakers?

Attached: 8954167rr2.jpg (1920x1280, 305K)

Yeah that's the one
it's not mine though, it was my uncle's. Found it with no speakers

>tfw you still don't get why these were made

what do you mean?

Cheap AIO systems that were just shit in general

honestly i dont know shit about these sort of things but "cheap" seems like a pretty good reason
at least for most people

these are the matching speakers

do you have thrift shops where you live

Attached: Sharp.jpg (1920x1280, 250K)

Thanks
though i doubt i will find the original ones

you can find any pair used inexpensive 4 ohm, 25-watt-max speakers and attach the cable to one of these: 2x2 PIN DIN male speaker cable connector:
ebay.co.uk/bhp/speaker-cable-connectors
cheaper the better

im not recommending these because for the expense you could get a new system, but you might find something at a thrift store for very little cost:
picclick.co.uk/Philips-2-way-4ohm-speakers-pair-ref-2683-153076240801.html
phillips and sharp probably shared the same manufacturer

Thanks a lot user. I'll try to get some this week

bump

Spending more money on things you like is the whole point of having more money.

My passive speakers arrived today. My receiver won't get here until Wednesday...

I just inherited a Pioneer A-335 with two Wharfedate Diamond 7.2 speakers. What properties should I look for in a DAC? Any recommendations?

bump

>no iLoud Micro Monitors

this guide is bullshit. where do the minimalists come into play?

I had a pair for background music at work. They looked great but they only lasted a few years. Eventually the amp started making noises. Sound-wise they were okay, they sounded like the tiny speakers they were - but perfect for low volume. I replaced them with some Emotivas, now discontinued ( audioholics.com/computer-speaker-reviews/emotiva-airmotiv-3b-bluetooth-speaker-review ) that have been okay.

Recommendation on headphones? On ear or earbuds preferred,

>What are some turntables that people use?
I own Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit

i think that guide is about good quality and low price, not marketing propaganda by the Jobs Conglomerate

in that price range, audio technica

some people only want some bass, not room shaking

holy shit

weird that JBL is charging 300 for one refurb floorstander

its fun to read the amazon reviews of this model with all the plebe comments on how its the best floorstander that ever existed

what website is that

So many great used floor-standing speakers for $600 or less, in the US, anyway. I think most people don't want to deal with the hassle of doing research and so forth.

Have you ever seen or heard that JL w7 8"? It would rival most 12s and then some any day, and the reason I pointed him toward it is he could do a small sealed box and still save some trunk space.

Is there any reason to not go with a sub in a 2 channel set up in a living room listening area? I was auditioning B&W 702 S2 which are supposed to have some of the best bass of any floorstanding speaker but the additional of a subwoofer added bass quantity that was lacking. The unsubbed B&Ws reminded me of wearing headphones where the bass sounds good but it lacks the physical sensation of your body being subjected to live bass.

Speakers are nice.

>What's a turntable, radio & cassette all-in-one.
Zoomers leave.

If you have something like geithain rl801k you probably will not want a sub.

this
can the speakers play down to 25ish Hz straight?
if yes then a sub cannot do much except for standing in a different position activating different room modes than your main speakers, which can solve problems or fuck everything up, because that's what room acoustics usually do

what the fuck is pic related, what does it do, and where the fuck do i get one

Dont forget phase matching too...

Headphone tube amp: wooaudio.com/amplifiers/wa2

>find a 2007 "top of the line" audio interface digging through my dad's old junk
>connect it to mic and phantom power
>looking for aux output so I can connect it to my PC
>tfw only S/PDIF, 1/4" and RCA outputs/inputs
Does anyone here know if S/PDIF to 3.5mm converters are lossy? Alternatively, I could find an old sound card with S/PDIF outputs/inputs, does anyone know of any good ones?
