Why the fuck are motherboard overclocking presets so shit?

Why the fuck are motherboard overclocking presets so shit?
>first time overclocking, Ryzen 1600x
>put it in auto because never overclocked before
>puts CPU at 1.5 volts
>reduce it down to 1.25v
>is stable, has no issues
Seriously who the fuck thought 1.5 volts was a good idea?

It can go to 1.5 but it is something really fast to hold up the 4.2Ghz on XFR.

You can drop it even further and still be stable.
My 1700X is stable @3.6 1.2v
For first gen ryzen cstate overclocking is the way to go
Using [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]
Maybe I Just got a good chip though.

I think the high voltages when overclocking have to do with the LLC setting on Asus boards.

You shouldn't trust overclocking software anyways.

If it didn't set 1.5v people would email the motherboard company about the autooverclock "bricking" their system and leave bad reviews on the motherboard.

It's much better that the system overheats and crashes so they go "oh, guess i better put it to defaults", or have the system mysteriously stop turning on well after the warranty period is over.

>Assus
>paying for X370 despite no OC experience

I can't even reach windows desktop unless I put 1.363v into my 1700x @ 3.8ghz
1.363v though and it's rock stable with all the stability tests and shit running for hours.

My first batch 1600 runs 3.5 1.2v all day easy 24/7, never crashed, could lower it further but don't care to.

Those voltages will burn out 12/14nm chips in record speed, remember that even 45nm chips would degrade much faster beyond 1.4125v, adding voltage means adding heat and doesn't always result in more stability.

The taiwanese mobo makers are just retarded and don't follow spec. AMD needs to make some reference boards with green pcbs and end them asap, the mobo market is a joke.

>almost all x370 boards are shit in overclocking
>it must be motherboards fault and not amd

you have been pampered by intkek

The mobos do it in case you get the worst binned chip ever, the of genie on my and fx board would set it to 1.448 just to get 4.2, which it did at a lesser core anyway.

>of genie
OC genie

stop

>bought Threadripper and Zenith Extreme
>4.0ghz OC preset on 1950x
>Try manual settings and can't get much past 4.1ghz without hitting a silicon wall

I'd say ASUS did pretty god damn good on their OC presets.

jokes on you my motherboard doesn't have llc
my 1600 pretty much runs 3.6GHz on 1.26 fine, and even 3.8GHz on 1.26 can pass the usual 10 minute stresstest (probably wouldn't last the full 8 hours).

My ryzen 1400 runs at 4.6ghz at 1.024V

Bullshit nigga, my 1600X runs at 4.2ghz at 1.18V

>poozen
my 4790k 4.7ghz smashes your garbage CPUs and it's 4 years old.

Back to > summerfag

heh, what you gonna do nigga?

>tfw your 1600 is so shit that even 3.7Ghz is unstable as fuck

maybe its your shitty motherboard
