Shouldn't we all be using IRC more often? I feel that it's underappreciated

IRC is a pos boomer technology that only neckbeards still use. It has my respect in that it has vastly outlived it sell-by date.

fucking this. anyone who says otherwise is technology illiterate and brainwashed sheep

including this faggot

Irc is a little chaotic and sometimes a circlejerk.

I feel like that textboards are the patrician choice, but they are desert.

Mods on IRC channels are worse than GMod DarkRP admins. IRC is only used by aspies at this point.
>"hello guys"
>"I'm gonna give you a warning for off topic discussion"
and then you have
>question that's actually relevant to the chat
>no one answers you for 10 hours

It's just Discord for people with autism.

>But muh tracking
Keep 3DPD off the interwebz newfag.

I want to actually converse, not idle all day awaiting conversations I'm not welcome in.

IRC is shitest platform.

I use IRC all of the time.

Can someone here list good and active irc communities and channels?

Is it good?

No. I unironically cannot.

yeah, I'm in a bunch of them that are really active
Pretty much everyone who uses IRC is decent with computers so it's enjoyable to talk to them. Plus half of the networks I'm on are private tracker IRCs, so even more so. They're really active and if you try to have a conversation someone will most likely have one with you about whatever.

Care for some g/entoomen joining by mentioning some of your channels?

No. Fuck off.

I wish IRC's reality was closer to its concept.
A wide network of people discussing every topic, from television to politics to engineering to literature.
Instead, it's mostly just tech support with very unfriendly people.

I guess Jow Forums is the closest we have now on the internet to actual wide-ranging discussion - though 'discussion' is generous.

private tracker IRCs and imageboard IRCs is where the active community is at

>no active Jow Forums IRC

I got banned in the 3 biggest ones, what do?

You contact one of the owners and send them a request to unban?

Thats pretty fucking bad then

yes. I hate discord newfags with a burning passion

>It's just Discord for people with autism.
discord is a proprietary service provided by a private company for profit.
IRC is an open protocol that anyone can implement/run clients and servers for.

How can anybody be so retarded that they would not understand this blatantly obvious difference.

Could you mention any great communities channels/servers.

Meant for

You mean IRC client user? A lot of us are using IRC via WhatsApp, there's literally no reason to use an IRC client when there's Discord now.

Speaking of which is there a Jow Forums Discord?

no but there's an irc, just like it should be
anyway I do agree irc is outdated, matriks or xmpp is the way to go
riot.im even provides retards like you with a nice flat interface with the new client

>Waaahhh why not use Riot
- Nobody is using it.
- Nobody is advertising it.
- People don't give a shit about the protocol they just want it to have features and be easy to use.

Discord got so popular quickly because they targeted Twitch Streamers and YouTube VOD channels, people were incentivized to join Discord so they could interact with gaming personalities, right now there's no incentive to use Riot over Discord.

Been using IRC since 2007

>t. 14 y.o. Discord boomers

That's not sanitary. Dogs eat their own poop, have parasites, and are generally unclean. Having them walk on your kitchen counter is god awful, especially if you're going to use it for preparing food.

I can guarantee that they don't bleach their kitchen sinks and counter tops either...

What's gitter?
It feels like IRC.

Discord is basically a better slack, just use that. There's an "irc mode" which makes it feel more like irc

>There's an "irc mode" which makes it feel more like irc
Why emulate something when that something is there and will be there long after your shitscord dies in a fire

why would I use irc? it's not like I have anyone to talk to anyways and having nicknames is dumb

>Shouldn't we all be using IRC more often?
I use it all the time to communicate with the rest of the dev team.

>t. 10 year old gaymers

how do i use irc more often when i'm never off of it
