I'm close to pulling the plug

I'm close to pulling the plug.

Thoughts?

Heh

I think that's a lot of money for a toy you'll grow bored of in a month tops.

The bulk of it is going toward the NUC though.

Even if I grow bored of the VR, I have needed a new compact PC for a long time

2 of em

1) Get samsung oddyssey, all other MR headsets are trash. Lenovo explorer is one of the better ones but still might as well go for the good shit

2) Wait. More headsets may come out soon and at least you could get the current gen on discount or get a next gen one.

>pulling the plug
I don't think that's the right saying..

I was considering going the extra mile, but your second point is actually what made me stick with Lenovo.
Assuming I'm going to be interested in the next gen headsets within the next couple years, id rather this first model I buy be cheap and not a mental strain to replace. I'd hate spending the extra 400 or so dollars for the Odyssey only to want to replace it 3 years down the line. 250 or so is much more reasonable.

No, it is. I'm literally pulling my father off of life support so I can use the insurance money to buy a VR headset

Dude, just don't buy stuff. Buying anything is a waste of money.

>16GB ram is as expensive as a 1TB SSD
what the fuck

They got too greedy, now even China is pissed and sending in their antitrust attorney army.

This bullshit will be over 3 months tops.

>No, it is. I'm literally pulling my father off of life support so I can use the insurance money to buy a VR headset
monster. you will die alone.

>16GB of RAM is nearly $200
Still blows my mind. I couldn't do it, I could never pay that much when I paid $46 for 16GB of RAM in 2016.

I wish this weren't true

dropping the hammer on my computational workhorse

That SSD doean't fit in a NUC.

No GPU? The integrated GPU is laptop shit. Prepare to spend another $500, fuckboi

what speed

Thank you

just buy a laptop

Any you recommend with comparable specs and size?

Do your own research you lazy cunt

Faggot, I did do my own research and came to the conclusion that the NUC was what I wanted to go with.

You aren't exactly selling me on your argument

what if you don't like VR?

If you're going to get into VR you really should go all-in and get a vive instead of this knockoff "windows mixed reality" bullshittery
Also why do you need an ultra compact NUC? It's neat tech but you could build a much faster normal gaming PC for the price.

Then I only wasted like 100-200 bucks or so, depending on how much I can resell the statement for

Like I said earlier itt, I'm doing a lot of traveling over the next year and want something that can easily be packed on a plane and brought from state to state. Plus it needs to be small enough to keep in, at worst, incredibly small employee housing dorms

>Knockoff "Windows Mixed Reality"

Imagine being this unknowligable in what you are talking about

It's "pulling the trigger", user.

wmr has no external sensors so it can't really do real room scale and can't track controllers behind you, etc
maybe if OP doesn't want roomscale at all it could make sense (and that might be the case given this travel plans)

Do your research before you make these claims. WMR room scales just fine with it's inside out tracking.

And the controllers still track behind you using gyroscopes and I believe accelerometers, so even when they are out of site they still detect movement. Doing things like shooting something behind you is still completely possible.

>it's a Jow Forums tries to be elitist despite knowing nothing about a topic thread

Nice combo, but you will need a m.2 ssd. My only concern would be the vr headset, that is something that if you go cheap, you might get disappointed. I understand that you want vr on the go, without setting up a room scale shit and all, so I might suggest to you search if the vive can function like the rift, and if it do, buy it instead of this Samsung vr knockoff that Lenovo did

>$1500 when you can build a competent gaming rig for that much

Do you really expect a NUC to game at 90fps in stereo? Or are you just doing some faggy google earth trash?

No. You can get portable 1440p SBS porn machines for 200 bucks.

>Actually considering the purchase of a NUC

Nigga just get a laptop

Pulling the plug means killing something off, you mean pulling the trigger

Pulling out my wolf tail buttplug...

I'm holding off on building a new PC until then. GPU prices are stabilizing so I hope RAM follows up soon.
