So my grandfather passed away recently and he left me some things behind, and among them was this portable disk drive. I couldn't find a connector that went along with it and was wondering if y'all could help me locate the correct connector for this so I can hook it up and unlock it's secrets

What is the model number? That could help in learning about it. It looks like something older but its hard to tell from your pic.
Post the connector, faggot.
crack it open to find a pata "ide" disk
OP you fucking retard show us port
Looks fuckin gay. I bet your granpa left you 2tb of gay porn and a video of him touching you when you were a kid.
Wooops forgot to post connector
this, open it, there should be a standard drive in there.
Its SCSI
have fun with that shit
But he'll void the warranty user
nigga that shit is like 20 years old, warranty expired
Looks like a SCSI with a Centronics connector
That's a quick connect for an IDE drive.
This. You can pull the disk and connect it with an external drive bay or any IDE to USB adapter.
this
Okay it's open, gonna plug it in and find out what's on here.
Will post results
Yup, that is a SCSI connector.
There are adapters out there, you can probably find a SCSI to USB connector (with a seperate power bring most likely)
Good luck OP, post results.
Did you die
Inb4 op gets v&
good ol pata....such fond memories of formatting drives all night.
BET IT COST 10 GRAND NEW
>MAXTOR
OH NO NONONONO
Sure its not IDE?
That shit is still on the fucking A++ certification test. Its older than Hillaries Cooch.
If you don't post again op I hope you die violently and painfully in your sleep tonight
Post the file, fag.
noe
1.6 GB was a lot of data in the days when 212, 340, 424, and 540 MB hard drives were the norm.
that's a 60GB HDD
OP die
If you don't void the warrant you don't own the product

Guys, it's IDE. Shit's gonna take a while.
Bumping for OP
This shit is gonna take a while but I'm curious about it
>piece of tech from 96

Computer wasn't popular yet
Hopefully it's is his grandparents performing some sort of scat porn. Probably just tax and financial info
>inb4 KaZaA MP4 files containing Anime and CP
My 50s years old boomer professor has anime folder in his thinkpad. Wouldn't be surprised if he was browsing Jow Forums.
It's plugged in and running, but it's making a constant click clack sound IS THIS OK
RIP
no, it's ded, it's prolly the needle trying to get in position over and over again.
You need paid professional recovery services at this point.
Take the cover off and spray a little WD-40 on the read-write heads and platter bearings, they're probably seized after sitting for so long
wrap towel around disk drive, place in oven for 3-5 mins (325 Degree). wait for it to cool, and try again.
>ptsd intensifies
Fug
don't do any of this
first things first
check the power pins on the disc drive
molex are dodgy connectors once they get old. the drive likely still works. switch the cd drive connector and the hard drive connector
>Kazaa
>MP4
also make sure none of the solder joints are broken on the bottom of the drive
put it in a modern computer with a IDE to USB adapter. You may get lucky.
this.
you could alternatively use a data recovery service
I'll order an adapter and try plugging it into my main computer, thanks dudes
good luck
Return with the results, if they're legal to post
lel
make sure you're not doxxing yourself
>my descendants will post my incest collection hdd when I'm passed away on Jow Forums in the future
This is not okay, guys.
If shitty reaction images and cat pictures are illegal, I'm properly fucked
Will post results, mark my words. Kanguru will not disappoint
godspeed, Jow Forumstard
You could give freezing it a try, Throw it in a ziplock back, get all the air out to avoid condensation and freeze it overnight. It might get it going.
make sure you don't remove those covers or the warranty is gone buddo
All hail Kan/g/uru
Nice quads, looks like a sega genesis cartridge
>Will post results
Never happens
>Order adapter
Delivery can take longer than 2 hours fucktard
He ded
What's up with the recent "ahaha I'm so soiboi and have no idea about hardware from a few decades ago"
Specially with Jow Forums going along with it like it's a bunch of underage retards who never seen an IDE disk
calm down, sugartits. Also, read rule 10.
Paste link to said rule.
Danke.
Even if someone never seen IDE disk it doesn't take genius to use web search.
It's summertime or anons are bored or lonely so they seek attention.
Which is good (if it's latter)
Probably shouldn't make it a part of the things you'll leave for your grandson then
>not having last laugh on everyone
You're not fun
Starring OP as a toddler.
not spoonfeeding you, newfag. learn the rules and lurk moar
Well the comment I was replying to
said it was not cool to be snooping around, if you don't want people to be snooping around you probably shouldn't leave them hard drives and shit
Bumping the thread so it stays alive until OP returns
No one gives a hot damn to moral fags out here!
>not having a USB to SATA/(40&44pin)PATA bridge at home
Why are people like that even on Jow Forums?
Mine broke about a month ago and haven't been bothered to replace it :(
Good to know
Is it really that unusual? My dad is a fan of DBZ, city hunter, fist of the north star and some other late 80s/90s anime (even that blue robot cat thingy). It's a hobby he picked up during his time in Japan
>d some other late 80s/90s anime
UNDERAGE?
Kids born in 2000 can post here without breaking the rules
Scary but true
get out of here gramps
big if true
Kek I was born in 98.
Please be bait.
That's for if the platter bearing is seized, which would just result in no spin-up whatsoever, not that click-clack that OP describes.
