This. I generally have both installed. feh seems good for one-off image-viewing or setting a wallpaper, but the binds are kind of weird so I like to have viewnior around. I often hit either q or esc and it does something unexpected, like saves some new file instead of closing.

ah, thx. that's why I like Jow Forums, you can find decent software recommendations every now and then.
my problem with feh is that it doesnt integrate well with desktop environments. for example, if I open a single picture from some folder, that is it. feh opens that single picture, instead of doing the sensible thing and loading the other pictures from that directory into the current filelist as well.
viewnior seems to do this aspect right.

Viewnior would be perfect if it automatically resized the window when browsing a folder like IrfanView does on Windows. Now it stays in the same dimensions of the first image you opened which is really annoying.

The default one that comes with LXDE just works, and a hell of a lot better than the ones that come with Windows and Mac. Hell I have yet to see a single image viewer that works as well, period. It's lightweight, fast, and doesn't have any bullshit. Stays out of your way and works exactly the way you would expect it to.
