I compile mpv on linux but I need windows.

I'm using mpv as video player but I see no upsides to mpv as music player compared to mpd. I use ncmpcpp as frontend and have made keybindings in i3 that execute mpc commands for global controls. I also use i3blocks to display the playing music. I really like this setup more.

I am using moc but I wanted to use one tool for my music and video. I guess I will have to stay with moc.

I don't think you understand how mpv works. Anyone can build from git. There are 2 windows builds that 2 people are nice enough to make for those that don't know how. 1 build is made between major versions (0.26, 0.27, 0.28, etc.). And 1 is done weekly.

mpv is missing two crucial features form mpc-hc at the moment and neither has a viable substitute.

1) Go to. This allows you to immediately jump a specific time and frame of a video. Pulling it up also immediately tells you at what point you are in the video, down to the fraction of the second and frame.

2) Replay gain/normalization. Volume is all over the place. mpv has a shitty af command for audio filters where you have to come up with a custom output, but it also had to read the file seconds ahead to work. That means it's complete trash for livestreams. mpc-hc implementation just fucking works and doesn't incur any performance penalty.

Madshi is known to be an anime fag.

It took me ~8 hours to build mpv + ffmpeg and write the makefile + scripts for it.
