Samsung s6 active? It looks pretty cheap right now.
Gavin Kelly
Nokia 8 or Xiaomi Note 5?
Austin Clark
Xiaomi only because of unlockable bootloader
Adam Moore
trading in with verizon, US carrier. I replaced my phone screen, will they be able to tell?
I did a nice job swapping it, you can’t tell from just normal use, but I’m worried they might just be able to plug it in and do some kind of vendor hardware test.
John Moore
When I worked at Sprint they just checked to see if it worked right, cosmetic condition, and didn't have some pajeet OS on them Don't know about Verizon though
Isaac Flores
Depends, do you care about being able to root your device when you probably don't need to?
Benjamin Reed
alright neat, thanks user
Bentley Ward
/spg/ but without the upselling or the xiaomi shills
Whatever happened to the Kanger Project? Is AOKP still a thing or no?
Oliver Wilson
What is the best music player for android?

Is there actually a screen protector for the Galaxy S8+ that covers the entire screen? I've gone through 4 different brands now that claim "edge to edge" but all have that 1mm gap on the edges that gives that halo effect. I'm using a minimal case pic related so I have the room for it but I'm starting to think all these protectors are the same flippin dimensions.
No, they're all slightly smaller than the glass on the phone. But screen protectors aren't that useful anyway, as they only really protect against scratches which Gorilla Glass is very resistant to in the first place.
The very best screen protectors out there (the actual glass ones, like Panzer Glass and similar brands) will scratch from the exact same shit as Gorilla Glass does, which is to say that neither your phone nor such a screen protector will get scratched up by leaving your keys in the same pocket or even molesting it with a razor blade.
Well shoot, guess I'll just go screenless then. The amount of dust they all collect on the edges has also been a big bother. If the glass is that tough I should be good.

I smashed mine yesterday morning against the wall. The testosterone rush I got after taking a cold shower, mixed together with the inability to communicate with my father who was complaining and seeking for help for his broken phone at that time, through e-mail. It was a Lumia 950, the screen is 50% black, 20% rainbows now. It didn't bother me much, since I was thinking of giving it to my father as a replacement to his broken phone anyway.
I now switched back to my previous phone, Nokia 7610. Today I ordered a new black cover for it, for that it has many scratches on its screen.
I am praying each day for last 1-2 months, and refreshing the news for the Surface Phone. Panos Panay's tweet was exhilarating, ZDNet's news was annoying, petition on change.org is fine, but that's also saddening. If it came down to making a petition, then I suppose it really is not going to come any soon.
Do yall think 2018 will be the last year for the notch?
Liam Robinson
I just hope they'd stop with these retarded fads altogether and focus on battery life.
Evan Young
Might be able to get a Huawei Mate 10 Pro for 500€, worth it? Normally 700€ here I believe. Or should I just go for an OnePlus 6? Don't care about notch.
Jason Allen
As long as you don't treat your phone like shit yeah, but if you did I doubt a screen protector would be able to help you. Pretty much the only stuff you have to worry about nowadays as far as scratching your screen goes is sand and such.
Angel Nelson
Sadly thanks to the edge display, glass screen protectors are awkward as shit. Your best bet is a film screen protector which unfortunately you may need to purchase online.
I use a Lifeproof case which kind of sucks major pehnis because the screen protector isn't in full contact with the screen (Loss of sensitivity.) But I'm a clumsy shithead so y0l0.

Which smartphone can get you laid?
Gabriel Sanders
none of them, confidence gets you laid not your phone
Gavin Myers
Sony unveiled a new phone today Budget friendly with some nice features and looks
>this is a feature Goddamnit HTC, what the fuck happened to you?
Jaxon Garcia
Is this their new 1k usd crypto-phone?
Adam Murphy
Yep. This is their Kodak moment
Ethan Russell
So, Mi max3'll launch tomorrow, I find it interesting. I hope for a plus model with SD710, any thoughts? Anyone planning to order it?
Asher Reyes
>when you probably don't need to? Given that he hasn't answered, why should he settle when the price difference is marginal?
Michael Wright
Jesus Christ, it's Rocky IV all over again. It's just that this time is China vs. US. Look, you don't have to settle for any software botnet as the device has an unlockable bootloader and substantial custom ROM support as well.
Chase Peterson
Android has been able to permanently turn this off since version 7.
A 200 USD difference in price is hardly marginal, he could buy two Xiaomi Note 5 Pros for the price of one Nokia 8, it's mid-range chinkshit vs last year's flagship specs.
But what do you mean settle? There's not as much reason to root an Android One device since there's no bloat to get rid of in the first place. Ad blocking works without root, as do most other things that would normally require root via Shizuku Manager.
>LineageOS gives you a clean system that you can add what you want to. It's not as barebones as some ROM's but it includes quality of life features that are nice to have (they vary depending on phone builds) I wouldn't necessarily advice switching from Samsung's ROM on the Edge, as there are specific hardware improvements such as edge detection that make it much better. Disabling apps, or rooting and removing them, is the way to go imo. Not sure how to clean phones as I've always had custom ROMs or Nexus phones with stock android. From previous thread. What is edge detection? In pictures? Actual... edge detection like when the phone is laying on the table? Why wouldn't this work on Lineage?
Sebastian Sanders
Yeah but what would Linus recommend? It has to be Linus approved.
Hudson Garcia
>A 200 USD difference in price is hardly Is it really that much? >he could buy two Xiaomi Note 5 Pros for the price of one Nokia 8 I meant settle for the Nokia 8, as that along with a locked bootloader is a clear disadvantage. The battery capacity of just 3090 mAh is puzzling. What were they thinking?
Jonathan Gutierrez
Yes it is that much. Nokia 8 MSRP is 400 USD, Xiaomi Note 5 Pro MSRP is 200 USD. >a locked bootloader is a clear disadvantage How so?
Christopher Carter
He bought a used phone from some third party seller, who knows what happened
Ryan Long
moto g6 or zenfone 5? On verizon and looking to buy a phone for my mom's birthday :)
Liam Diaz
You own a samsung phone?
Charles Bell
I wouldn’t expect any used phone to spontaneously combust.
Gabriel Mitchell
Says it’s a brand new phone. Maybe Samsung is back at doing what it does best.
Jordan Gonzalez
Between the two Zenfone
Luke Watson
Read the actual article brainlet. They mean brand new either as in the man just got it, but the article says he bought it used off some site. First occurence on an S9 and something that could be the previous owners fault
Brody Torres
moto g6 zenphone lacks 2 main bands
Evan Wood
Such as?
Christopher Russell
Still gets you arrested for attempted assassination if you ship one to the president of the USA.
Eli Sanchez
>bought it off some site Yeah. Like many peeps do all the time.
Nathaniel Long
Nokia 6 or Moto X 2nd Gen.?
Jack Perry
I have n and I can't turn it off
Cameron Green
Nokia 6
Christopher Green
>old samsung phone Only if there's good 3rd party support.
Jordan Walker
user with the mom here. Sorry for the confusion but I was referring to the verizon exclusive version of the zenfone gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_v_v520kl-8866.php So far I'm leaning towards the moto g6 because I don't know much about zenui.
Blake White
ZenUI is pretty good, not heavy like Samsung Experience, and pretty customizeable from what I remember Also the camera software isn't that bad either
Angel Reed
This is gonna be in a history book. >Picture of president Trump owning the leftards despacito epic style on twitter. (colorized)
Yeah, that's fake. Samsung doesn't do what Samsung don't.
Julian Davis
>continued support Apple/google?
Dylan Edwards
Need cheap phone with inductive charger where I can put custom non-botnet software on. Currently owning an iPhone but I'm getting paranoid so I'm selling it and I want to replace it with a useful alternative.
Xavier Russell
I have a Galaxy Note 5 that I want to replace in the not-so-distant future. I love the stylus, so I'm thinking about splurging on the Note 9, but I'm curious about the cheaper competition from China, since I don't really need the high-end hardware.
Quick access to a good camera and battery life are important. Phone is used for GPS, maps, messaging, camera and language apps. Installing an open source OS would be cool.
Sebastian Green
>2 (two) years of support Amazing, good job Google, very high standards there.
Josiah Rogers
I settled on Shuttle+
Xavier Stewart
can you find what the benefits and limits to the phone are if I buy the Galaxy S9+ unlocked phone from Samsung ?
People said wi-fi calling you won't get if you buy an unlocked phone, but some people say you do still can use it? I will have ATT service. I know their Galaxy S9 unlocked phones are also universal, so it works with any carrier (Sprint/Verizon- CDMA and ATT/TMobile- GSM)
Not necessarily the best, the most well-rounded, the best bass, blah blah blah. Nope, just straight up the loudest. Because I don't care so much about the 'quality' - I don't use it for music. But for radio and podcasts.
The reason is this: I like listening to radio or podcasts when I get up in the morning all the way until I leave for work. However many of the things I do during the morning are too loud so I can't actually hear the audio from the phone.
>when the bathroom tap is running (strong flow but loud for some reason) >when I flush >when I'm in the shower >when the kitchen tap is running >when the kettle is boiling >when the fan above the cooker is running (actually this one applies to evenings not mornings, but same thing really) and if I'm listening to a podcast especially it's annoying because I either have to anticipate these loud things and pause beforehand (meaning constant stop-start throughout the morning), or I forget to do it, and then I have to finish what I'm doing, then dry my hands, then unlock, then rewind 15/30/45/60 seconds back to the point where I last heard it. It's getting annoying as fuck and so I want a speaker loud enough to cut through the other noise.
ib4 >use speakers! I'm constantly going from room to room. Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living room. I can't just bluetooth connect to one set of speakers. >use a portable speaker! I'm not carrying a bluetooth speaker from room to room with me, that's ridiculous. I just want the phone in my pocket. >use a system of speakers in every room where they all play or the audio switches to the one closest to you constantly that requires a botnet system like LG flow and requires me to buy several of their overpriced speakers so no, fuck that shit
I'm thinking of some kind of Moto Z and speaker mod...
Thanks for the info my guy. However both phones are exactly the same price and I got until the end of the month so I'll probably go try them out in person.
Ryder Evans
Wi-fi calling depends entirely on the SIM card and service you are supposed to receive from your Provider. If you are post-paid with AT&T or Verizon you will get Wifi calling. They restrict wifi calling and you don't get it if you're mooching off their towers through MVNOs like Straight Talk or Cricket however.
I have an S9+ factory unlocked, the G965U1 model. One thing that sucks is our model is the very last to get a firmware update. You'd think it'd be the first but it's not. Samsung pushes updates to all the carriers first, who then push the updates out. When Samsung hears back that NO ONE had problems then they update the carrier-less version.
Cameron Evans
I had a Nexus 5 and it died. My stupid ass put it through the washing machine. I then got a Moto G3 and it just feels worse in almost every way. Including running Lineage. I'm about to just buy one for $70, would there be a better alternative?
I use Ting, and live in the US. I would like to have wireless charging but good ROM support is the only real wanted feature.
Landon Butler
i need a new phone, which one would you guys recommend for under 300 burgers?
