First for a Superior quartz watch.

Now that's a lot of applied markers.

How long til this one gets nuked too?

6'5ish

Attached: 1513100095729.jpg (4032x3024, 2.54M)

I'm not the retard who named it. That being said 300ft is deeper than 99.9% of diver watch wearers will ever take their watch.

So I'm heading to a hobby store to buy some 0.025" steel spring wire to use to make longer Vostok bezel springs. The action on this GMT bezel is too loose for my taste.

Attached: LRM_EXPORT_20180711_145821.jpg (2657x2657, 3.27M)

The real issue isn't the depth rating, it's the fact that the manufacturer may not have actually pressure tested that particular watch

I would't be shocked, it's a micro brand after all. It's survived many hours in the river, pools and ocean which is all I'll ever need it to do.

>a Paki and an Ogre ruined /wt/ forever
still mad about it ttytt

so I already have a daily driver that I like but I'd also like to have an activity tracker that would sync with my phone but wouldn't make me feel like I'm wearing a second watch
got any recommendations?

Attached: 1523105872358.jpg (750x718, 74K)

I don't know about vostok, but I've used a spring from a springbar for seiko and it works great.

I'm talking about one of these. They control how tight the bezel action is on a Vostok.

What automatic watch should I get for

Or if you want hacking/handwinding you could get the $85 Invicta 8926OB and mod to taste

I don't think that it would look any good on my skinny hand, but i might consider it.

We don't wear watches for vanity, we wear watches because we enjoy them.

>/fa/

If i would wear a watch only for the looks, i would just buy some chinese junk that looks stylish.

Dude you wear that bulky diver like a 35mm dress watch.

Seiko had (at least) two different methods for how their thermocompensated twin-quartz movements maintained precision. One was this, used in the 97 series, maybe others. It basically just averages the rates of two different crystals that have different temperature response characteristics to achieve a smoother temperature profile around room temperature to skin temperature.

Attached: 97 Series Twin Quartz.jpg (400x570, 27K)

want to grab a cheap vintage for admiring while banging a plate every sunday, anyone have any advice?

was looking at longines conquests, omega seamasters or tissot seastars

The other method, used in the 99 series, is to use a secondary quartz crystal to act essentially as a thermometer. By comparing the rates of the two crystals in digital circuitry, the temperature can be indirectly inferred, and the the IC package can adjust how many ticks of the main quartz it counts before advancing the second hand. This method achieved Seiko's tightest in history rating of 5spy (like in this 9983 Superior ), whereas the more analog method in the 97 series never did.

ugh, wish i wasn't a wristlet. proportions look great.
cool
wish orient had longer hands on their watches and smaller cases/dials

Longer hands with a 38mm case would have been great on the Bambino. Would have liked to see them ditch the date on one of the versions as well. It wears small for 40mm, but it's still oversized for a dress watch. I couldn't resist the creme and blue aesthetic though.

My bracelet is totally high tech guize its worth it!

Fuck yeah!

shitposting is against the rules on a blue board

Help a poorfag out guys. Wanna get a white dial Seiko 5 but I'm not sure which one of these looks/is better. I want to dress the watch up so it'll probably go with a brown leather strap. I heard people here complain about 4 o'clock crowns so I'm not sure whether those are any good. On the other hand, the crown and metal on the right one looks as if it'll hurt if I bend my hand

Are you fucking kidding me?
His inforamitive shitpost about watch tech was so dry I had to blink 5 times while I read it. These threads shouldn't even be allowed.

that's just like
your opinion, man

Thinking about getting this. How do you like it?

So, we are trying Jow Forums again now? Do we know it'll work or are we just gambling?

Bulova has some stuff

which apple watches have that red dial? I really dig it.

Stop talking about it and let it happen big daddi.

Series 3 with cellular (LTE) modem

thanks. that'll be my next watch. I have zero smart watches right now.

Which one of you was this?

Right looks superior, I think I see syringe hands and lumed hour markers, and longer second markers.

>lumed hour markers
sorry for asking but what does that mean?

Reminder that this watch will be in stores soon.

murica is still in work hours

Give me link

There already is one, actually there's two. They split the design ethos into two different watches. They both look awful. Cathedral hand's completely gone.

Just picked up another Patek today.

Does anyone have a gear S3, and if so is it worth buying one? I haven't fallen for the smartwatch meme yet but I'm thinking about it

why isn't it on a nato yet?

agreed this should be on a nato

should have bought a seiko

Why are these threads getting deleted?

this but less ironically

These but absolutely serious.

These but absolutely serious.

Daily reminder that watches are /fa/shion and not technology

Man, I can't decide if I love it or hate it. It kind of reminds me of that AMC Gremlin that had an optional Levi's denim interior.

The accutron 214 has some of the most detailed published specifications around accuracy under different combinations of any wristwatch. For example, the rate is affected by external pressure by 0.71spd per inHg.

Attached: 20180322_203424-3024x4032.jpg (3024x4032, 2.79M)

>best looking smartwatch
That's like being the tallest midget

First for best looking smartwatch
>smartwatches are gay

Attached: 20180712_175413.jpg (5312x2988, 3.51M)

Nice model choice. Still find the yachtmaster repulsive though.

One interesting property of the accutron is the interaction of the hands with the tuning fork. When the hands, being ferrous, are in the twelve oclock position, they interact with the fork and the magnetic coils that drive it to change the rate. Here you can see the rate slow by about 0.4spd, then speed up by 0.8spd, then slow by 0.8spd, then speed up by 0.4spd as the minute hand passes the fork.

Attached: accutron hands magnet interaction.gif (584x414, 14K)

This accutron is improperly indexed. If you count the vibrations of the fork vs the movement of the hand, you can see that the hand is advancing faster than 1 second per 360 complete oscillations. Since the accutron uses a 360Hz fork, it's evident that the index wheel is not being properly advanced.

Attached: accutron 214 close slow.webm (852x480, 2.72M)

I love the aesthetics, I am quite impressed by the case finishing, honestly, and the bracelet is decent-ish.

Downsides:
- I don't like the stock bezel, and the stock spring was way to weak on this aftermarket Am Diver bezel so I had to go buy some 0.020 music wire and make a replacement bezel spring to tighten the action on it.

- The case links on the bracelet are folded, and I had to bend the shit out of the pin to allow that first link tho droop the way its supposed to. This was a pain in the ass, and then I had to bend the links back together once I fixed it.

- Stock Vostok branded clasp is crap and should be replaced with a milled clasp.

All that being said, I'm still extremely happy for the $105 pricetag.

This excerpt from the accutron technical manual demonstrates improper indexing. While later tuning fork movements had screws to adjust the position of the index finger jewels precisely, in the 214 the watchmaker was left to adjust the fingers by hand with tweezers to ensure proper indexing. This may be the most precise activity a watch manufacturer ever actually expected a watchmaker to do in history.

Bulova was pretty unapologetic about it.

If a smartwatch wasn't a watch would it be smart enough not to wear a smartwatch but a real watch?

Attached: 1530520700937.png (640x640, 111K)

Bump

Pebble is best smartwatch desu
Looks ok
Battery lasts a good week or week and a half
And it's got ability for nav, music control, weather, and general notifications/replying to notifications when connected to your phone

Attached: IMG_5070.jpg (3264x2448, 1.07M)

this makes 214 experience look pretty good on a resume btw ;)

also shits dirt cheap mine was like $50

Poorfag coming through

Attached: 20180712_214537.jpg (3264x1840, 1.26M)

I had the original Pebble and lost it somewhere, kind of wish I still had it. I was working as a mechanic at the time and it was really useful because I could leave my phone on my toolbox or somewhere else safe and see when somebody was calling and if it was important enough to stop what I was doing and wash up so I could return the call.

Wow, that's crazy. I can't believe they expected random watchmakers to be able to do that manually.
