Why are you buying non samsung SSDs, Jow Forums?
Why are you buying non samsung SSDs, Jow Forums?
I've a 860 pro
500GiB one
It's okay I guess
why not building smaller cases?
because they still need to fit into a standard 2.5" space. Otherwise they'd be inventing their own standard just for this use case. If you want the smaller form factor, you can always get the m.2 versions instead.
if they have that much room, why did they only now bring out the 4tb one?
To fit with old standard 2.5" mounts. Also so that all sizes use the same case. It's a moot point though since M.2 is just the PCB and the mounting mechanism allows for it to be shorter if needed.
Because I'm cheap and Samsung SSDs aren't imported in bulk by any retailer in my cunt so they end up being worse in bang for buck.
I would expect that all ssd have that size
They do, they're called m.2 ssds
Standardized form factors. They make M.2 drives.
What? You can even see in the OP image that the larger capacity drives take up more space. If they only made the cases as big as they needed to be you would have several different sizes among their product lineup.
>shilling botnet
so this is nu-g huh
So generic info manufacturers use to improve their stuff, except this time samshit is being upfront about it.
>upfront
>we MAY colllect xxxxxx
okay
Because racks, docks and laptops with drive bay on the side.
nice try Min-jun
I don't. I exclusively buy Samsung. I would probably buy Micron but they cost exactly the same. I have 2 850s and 2 960s.
Do we have any testing to confirm that other manufacturers don't do this too?
Where's the fucking 8TB model already?
just bought this bad boy for €700
I'm not
but i did you shill
Encourage competition.
>heh we don't know everyone else is fucking us we may just keep using stuff from the company we know for sure it's fucking us
you buy apple products don't you
Why are you buying technology that literally die the more it's used?
that's literally every technology in existence
Release schedules and capitalism.
>goreans
whyy? have 256gb pic related and 1TB hdd, mount hdd once a week...
Just remove the case
Not an issue, they haven't released updates for years now.
Form factors are standardized. Use M.2 if you don't have enough room for a 2.5" drive.
hey, at least ssd's don't fail during idle time, like hdd's can.
How would you know?
Most HDDs fail on power-up, or at least that's when you notice it.
SSDs literally go into read-only mode if they haven't been used for a while
But that's wrong. SSDs go into read-only mode when their erase capacity is exhausted, and lose charge if they haven't been used for a while
>dies when not used actively
Is this a meme?
>Is this a meme?
Pretty much. I've got some SSDs that sat for two years, and worked fine when I hooked them up.
They were early Crucial M4 and Samsung 830, from around 2011-2012.
I'm not, I buy adata
Kingston and Sandisk all the way baby!
>it's okay if you get raped if they tell you beforehand
uhh sure gangsung kimchi nida
Do they still make mSata SSDs? I need one for my thinkpads
512gb 850 evo for 3 years now. 2 and a half of them bottle necked by a sata 2 only mobo
Yeah boy. Thats whats poppin
Samsungs are twice the price in my country compared to the US.
Is there really no cheaper SSD that is worth buying?
Because they had to develop a better controller that would actually maintain performance at those capacities.
That's not personal data, sorry.
My sandisks have never failed me.
I'm poor
It's cheaper and basically the same performance as the Samsung one
just had one die on me last week, a ultra 2 after 2 years
i don't own an ssd
But I'm not
840 pro has been my boot drive since like forever
850 evo in my thinkmeme
