not sure about best terminal font, but the best programming font is input mono w/ patched ligatures if you're into that. I use input mono without ligatures on my terminal because it's faster

I would still recommend input mono. it is heavily focused on ensuring clear distinctions between symbols like - and ~; {, [ and ) etc,.

Best fonts being small in size, easily distinguishable, readable characters, and good support for characters other than ASCII.
I'm pretty happy with monospace regular at size 9.

Most fonts distinguish those pretty well. I vs l vs | are the bastards to look out for. That said, most serif monos do that well
