he just spends his days approving and merging changes into the linux kernel and receiving "Sponsorship" money to approve such merges which are within the "best interests" of the open-source community

That's more than you do all day

Linus himself also uses a mac.

which in turn is more than what you do all week

HAHAHAHA
he thinks playing gaymes all day can pay his rent LOL!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA
have fun living in you're dreamworld you dumb retard.

no need to pay a rent on a house I own

HAHAHAHAHA WHY THEN POST ON $CHIN? HAHAHAHA

...which runs Fedora

Linus is using a single monitor because he's using Gnome. Desktop paradigm of Gnome is designed to be extremely ergonomic and the concept of multiple workspaces is integrated well enough to make up for the lack of screen estate.

Multimonitor setups are useful for full stack developers, a kernel dev doesn't need that much space.

>*used

he switched to a dell laptop a few years ago

>why do you need more?

To watch anime while shitposting

Linus Torvalds only does kernel development, he dont do any other development so he is not worried about developing other parts of Linux,

as far as monitors goes thats his personal preference, i tried two monitors and it was more trouble than it was worth, i rather have one BIG nice monitor than two smaller monitors, i can always use multiple virtual desktops, most linux desktops have four to start with

Linux also only uses a single dildo.

>$CHIN
Clean the cum and cheeto dust that's under your shift key. It's making it stick.

I do that, too.
Every time I try to type Linux Torvalds, it comes out Linux Torvalds.
I thought it was just me.

He probably couldn't make his second monitor work on Linux

I do that too. I greatly prefer one large monitor to multiple monitors, however I don't give a shit if others use mutiple, smaller monitors. That's their choice.

I dont know what to do with my 10 yearold chink tier monitor that still works fine but inferior to my new monitor in every way. Might as well play some YouTube videos with it while I'm gaming.

Pic most certainly related.

this is at least true for stallman fanboys

Who's Linux?

Ok then, what about Jeff Dean? This man is a true genius and the most valuable Google engineer. He's like a God at Google and not even the CEO would go against him. He literally made Google what it is today and wrote/worked-on all of their most important software stacks. He's worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Now, notice something interesting:

He doesn't have two, three or four monitors and he doesn't have some gigantic TV screen that kills your focus and distracts him from everything important.

He's not distracted by having a phone out on his desk, because he doesn't use such technology as a lifeline like consumerist millennial do who'd literally die without their phone.

He doesn't have some bullshit meme mech keyboard with some special switches that were forged by elves in Japan from katana-grade steel and lights that emit perfect sRGB colors.

He doesn't have some tricked out text editor with million different features and colors.

He doesn't run some super-autistic Linux distro like Arch that demands you babysit it all the time, or a useless toy OS like Windows.

He doesn't have some DE with customized CSS US that you usually see in tons of threads on here.

He didn't even change the default theme, colors or the default background.

He can afford all that shit, yet he doesn't waste his time on it. Instead, he writes 100x more lines of code than you and is 1,000,000x more accomplished than you'll ever be. And he's infinitely smarter than you'll ever be.

So quit falling for fucking memes and quit craving all the latest bullshit that gets posted on here in these cancerous consumerist "generals" threads. Mark my words, and this is coming from a professional: there's nothing more pathetic than consumers who think having multi-monitor setups makes them productive.

Attached: 1485281665513.jpg (1200x801, 208K)

For someone that likes to say "you" a lot, id be interested in hearing about productive you are too. You sure talk a lot of praise for these people, so obviously you're following in their footsteps, right?

I have one 4K monitor and I see no reason to get a second.

I used to have multiple monitors and I had illusions of increased productivity, in reality, the second display was just a distraction that was inevitably relegated to playing youtube videos and tv shows.

not an argument.

It's nice to have one portrait and one landscape. I've thought about making both portrait, but it's nice to have landscape for videos and wide pictures.

But it's a big one

Having more than one monitor is just a meme for faggot /v/tards to feel cool in "battlestation" threads. In reality, they serve no practical purpose. I have two monitors at work, but I utilize virtual desktops and mostly only use one because it is literally more convenient that way.

Linux is a kernel.

Still false.

Because I don't use Linux

*kernal

Why should we care what he uses?

*colonel

but I don't
only have 2 at work

/thread

Linux can use any number of monitors, provided there's enough ports.

Yeah I use one ultrawide

> inb4 mortgage defaults

T. Newfag redditor who just realised he can’t be downvoted for calling people names

Look at these NASA engineers. Several of them have two monitors, one of them has three. I wonder if these smart people recognized something that the new-and-fashionable developers have overlooked or forgotten.

I too call him just Linux.

Linux Tarballs

>why do you need more?

All of this porn isn't going to watch itself.

I have a second portrait oriented monitor primarily for masturbating to doujinshi and commercial comics on exhentai.

youtube.com/watch?v=O_J89LJSvL8

That fucking 80 col width. Don't need multimon when you can have 3 windows on a monitor.

so i can watch insipid bullshit while i play insipid bullshit video games, why the fuck else

this but unironically

work is work
having an extra screen can be useful sometimes but you should be able to do your work regardless

people who "need" a mechanical keyboard to write code should fucking die in a fire

stop projecting you fucking neet

check'd

Solid posture tbqh.

What monitor is that?

Why does this always get asked whenever that pic is posted?

I believe his name is Gnu

the name's linux, gnu plus linux

Eh kills aleins and doesnt afraid of anything.

I like having a big monitor and a smaller one in portrait for a dedicated terminal and reading docs.

Main monitor for full screen game and second monitor for internet browser usually. Alt tabbing is annoying and troublesome, I'd rather pay slightly more for electricity.

I don't *need* more, I want more. Fuck off, monitor-grabber.

>nedit
stop i cant handle this feel

Gimp overload

There are no other parts of Linux. Linux is a kernel.

technically yes you are correct, i was referring to the entire operating system distribution at that time

that is an excellent text editor, has syntax highlighting too,

GNU/Linux

Nice copy pasta, but the guy has a big monitor, 30-something inches? probably 4k resolution. He can fit 3 text editors side by side on that screen. A logitech gaming mouse (mx518).
