Try to upload a webm file

>try to upload a webm file
>"Only VP8 format supported"
>"file size must remain under 4mb"

Why did you implement a lightweight video format but keep the same restrictions as a fucking .gif file?

>Why did you implement a lightweight video format
To improve video quality
>but keep the same restrictions as a fucking .gif file
To not increase hosting costs

based grug poster got 4 sets of grug dubs

to fuck with you
notice there isn't any mention on boards what video you can upload so you have to trial and error a bunch of times only because fuck you

because its a half-baked format that nobody uses or wants to use because there's not any reason to replace MP4

moot implemented it because he was too poor to host MP4 files

Sauce?

nevermind

>half-baked
no its not

>that nobody uses
it's widely used

>there's not any reason to replace MP4
mp4 is a container.

>it's widely used

Name three (3) sites that utilize it besides Jow Forums

YouTube, leddit, funnyjunk
What do I win?

9gag, Reddit and Facebook.

>reddit
>image hosting

You probably meant Imgur but you'd still be wrong because anything longer than 30 seconds or bigger than 6mb is rejected

well, the biggest video content site on earth maybe?

discord

pornhub uses mp4

Reddit has its own video hosting system.

vp9 never ;_;
the only reason we even got vp8 is because moot got help from google intern to implement webm support.

h264*
and its not the biggest video content site

It always suprises me how small their file sizes are

Did the anti-dub filter just disappear?

Youtube uses vp9, though.

I'm pretty sure that's been gone for a long time now

>mfw 8ch allows up to 5 files, up to 16mb per post, with sound, in .webm and .mp4

8ch doesn't have millions visitors per day.

Because the entire purpose was to replace gifs. That's it.

if i recall correctly google developed vp8 and moot implemented support for it straight away. once he sold Jow Forums to hiro it stayed like that. moot would probably implement support for vp9 as well. let's hope hiro adds support for av1 at least.

God I wish I had millions of visitors per day. Even one visitor per month would do.

>the only reason we even got vp8 is because moot got help from google intern to implement webm support.

We are in 2018 though, webms can be inserted into sites and played back with no additional code.

Using tag on an uploded webm is sufficient these days and VP9 should be a no brainer.

Fucking filthy nip couldn't care less about what we want. That greedy little shit.
