you can also write your password on it, two birds with one stone

Do you really feel like you have to ask anons whether or not to put tape on your camera?

Just monitor your network time to time
You should be fine desu

>not using a small square strip of black electric tape

if you cut it smoothly, it can even blend right in and be unnoticeable

i did exactly this. these faggots putting pieces of post-its on it should go to jail

Doesn't compare with simply removing the bezel and then removing the camera PCB.

Bam, as clean as possible, as most of them are USB.

I always laugh at people doing this. Just shows that their bare ass is more valuable than the data stored on the machine. If the attacker has control over your USB devices, you are already fucked hard.

Matebook Pro doesn't have this problem

yes, rather do this than disabling javascript

I was wondering about an experiment...
- use tor, freenet, i2p GNUnet everyday
- generate questionable traffic basically
- open chans and some "white power" sites
- constantly make posts on IRC how I hate minorities and ask where to buy guns ammo explosives
- browse weapon stores, weapon forums etc

And see if anything will happen
I want to be sure if triple letter agencies does listen to me
- if this doesn't work on Linux, do it on Windows

Of course, prepare for worst and make sure I have nothing illegal

Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate x64 doesn't have this problem.

This, if you’re really paranoid you should detach the cables of both the camera and microphone or just remove them completely.

this

>Just shows that their bare ass is more valuable than the data stored on the machine.
Nothing wrong with that; important stuff should be stored on desktops/NASes

Kek, when your solution is so much of a placebo that it enters homeopathic territory.

No. I wanted to become a YouTube/Twitch whore once, but idk, maybe some day.

What if someone gets in your computer and enables it again without you noticing?

The only real solution I see is to simply remove the damn webcam. Who uses these anymore anyway ?

It also has an LED. If it were to ever happen I'll disable it from BIOS on my laptop.

>trusting the LED

must suck being this naive/retarded

Yepperoni.

Nope I don't do it.

No.
What I do on the computer is far more embarrassing and incriminatory than my random IRL face, so that would seem like wrong prioritization.

i personally don't give a fuck if someone watches me jerking off. It's their own fault if the choose to spy on me

you can do that on windows 10 dumbass
not that you should actually trust on either oses though

Could be interesting, maybe instead of targeting minorities, target politicians.
record yourself (with an oldschool off line camcorder bro) And make it in a documentary. If they bust in your house "it's for a documentary, look at all this footage i'm putting together" might be a good defense in court and i would pay to watch for your documentary.

my t410 thinkpad doesn't have a camera
checkmate

>target politicians
That's way better!
I would, but it wouldn't be relevant to you, americanbros, I'm just planting this idea to citizens of freedom land.
And I think this could work only once, so I hope some American will try this and do it right!

I run 7, I'm just calling you what you are, a dumbass.

Okay..?

No problem my dude.

Linux is a kernel.

the ideas that "your camera is watching you and your mic is listening to you" are rumors made up and spread by tape and sticky note companies

Then why does Mark Zuckerberg do it?

my boss even does this to his iPhone, with the front-facing camera.

on the other hand, my thinkpad carbon has a moveable shutter for the webcam, that way I can block it and not also look like a paranoid idiot.

Your TV is listening to you.
Don't forget this.
TVs are botnet for quite some time now.

>not using your CRT TV from 1980

the fuck is a TV
i only use monitors

He saw other people doing it and his internal machine learning mistook it for "normal human behavior"

would a porn tape really ruin Zuckerberg or what evers career.? what are they into pegging or some thing?

Uhm, don't know if you realise, but it's not possible. All that message is a lie. An attempt to scam.

Interesting. Document everything. Share your findings.

thanks

Bad b8

Just don't use laptops.

At least make it look well
Pick matching color or something...

But why though? If you're running more or less FOSS loonix system, you shouldn't have any ways through which your webcam may be leaked.

>Just shows that their bare ass is more valuable than the data stored on the machine.
So?
What kind of retard would store actually valuable data on todays average computer?

I just laugh at who does this. Use something less ridicolous or learn to manage the security of your machine in a proper way.

Nobody is interested in your ugly face anyway.

>he doesn't know

win 10 will turn it back on automagically after a feature update.

source?

If things are *that* bad, pictures of you masturbating is the least worrying thing that may leak out.

My main computer is my desktop and I only plug in mics or cameras if I need them. If I ever take a laptop or phone anywhere I always operate under the assumption that they are compromised and anything said in their vicinity is probably being recorded.

>source?
Anecdotal experience. Has happened on pretty much every windows 10 computer I own or manage except my desktop (since it's on LTSB and doesn't get feature updates). Camera, touchscreen, touchpad, USB devices, you name it.

Not sure if it's intentional and not sure if it happens on every feature update or just sometimes. But it's definitely not documented and I definitely wouldn't trust it.

>anecdotal
Stopped reading right there.
Windows 10 is a piece of trash and some things do get re-enabled/reinstalled on updates because Microsoft are slimy fucks, but I’ve literally never heard of that happening before.
Could be related to drivers.

Why the fuck are you going around disabling all of those devices anyway?
Smells like bullshit.

>Stopped reading right there.
I mean sure if you want to assume I'm lying or something go for it, you might as well not even be on a discussion board.

> some things do get re-enabled/reinstalled on updates because Microsoft are slimy fucks
things get re-enabled because macroshit is incompetent. I don't doubt that they are also slimy fucks but I doubt feature updates breaking multiple things for multiple users literally every time they go live is intentional.

>Could be related to drivers.
I don't care what it's related to. In windows 7 a disabled device stayed disabled. This has not been my experience in windows 10, it has happened across multiple devices. I just turned my mom's touchscreen back off (again) last time I visited like a week ago. Was turned off for months prior. Her most recent update was a feature update.

>Why the fuck are you going around disabling all of those devices anyway?
Camera is disabled because I don't use it and don't want any apps using it. My mom's touchscreen on her laptop is (hardware) broken, needs to be disabled or it randomly clicks. I disable the touchpads on my laptops, I use a mouse. I do the same for my dad/bro.

>inb4 reddit spacing
Fuck off, I can’t be bothered to quote all this shit.

I stopped believing anecdotal shit from Jow Forums years ago user, it’s nothing personal.

Fucking around with people privacy settings and renabling services has nothing to do with breaking multiple things, which was the point I was making in the first place.

I can’t really argue against some anecdotal shit, so I’ll leave the other points out. I’m not saying I don’t believe you, is just nothing I can say would really be a “valid” argument.

No, you just need a camera without proprietary drivers

I mean a simple web search produces results to back up my claims if you prefer:

bluetooth: superuser.com/questions/1157879/is-there-any-way-to-prevent-windows-10-updates-from-re-enabling-bluetooth
touchscreen: dell.com/community/Desktops-General/Windows-10-keeps-enabling-touchscreen/td-p/4720394

I don't know why we're even arguing though, we are in agreement that configuring from within the OS is not trustworthy anyway

The TLAs won't even stop someone who openly tells people they're going to shoot up a school. Half of the time after a shooting we find out the guy was essentially shouting that they were gonna do it for years.

No. If you want to get noticed you have to be a legitimate terrorist working with a group, or have dirt on someone in the agency or on someone they support, then threaten to release it.

Anyone have the screenshot of the thread where the full image was originally posted? Im laughing my ass of just thinking about it.

Not much use if you're using the pre-installed Windows 10.

You could have literally just gave me those links a few posts ago and saved yourself all the time of typing out .
I agree with your other sentence, the disagreement was more to do with the fact I didn’t know it was a thing and you originally just gave me anecdotal evidence, which I’m sure you can understand I’m not really going to take as fact.

i need to use my camera retard

Why are you even on this thread then fuckwit?

Basically because if they went after the prospective school-shooter, they'd have to reveal what they knew and how they knew it to put him away and make charges stick. Yeah yeah, there parallel construction, but that's not a sure thing. a while back the FBI dropped charges against some pedo because the judge said that if they wanted to use the evidence they had against him, they had to give their "network investigative tool" to the defense so that they'd be able to examine it and challenge said evidence. I think including the source code. They didn't want to burn whatever exploit it was they had taking down one pedo.

Undetectable passive shit, yeah, they use that everywhere, but actually going after someone is reserved for people that are way bigger fish than a school shooter.

Your left hand is touching your face.

Who gives a shit, faggot?

>not blocking the tv mac adress

>not putting up a miniature diorama with a black cock
Hello NSA cucks.

You should be more concerned with having a microphone in your devices

If you haven't removed the microphone from your smartphone and plug in a headset when making calls, you're an idiot

Attached: 1530376205556.jpg (700x900, 138K)

Literally a botnet band aid

>when making calls, you're not paranoid.
Fixed.
Delusions of grandeur and persecution getting stronger?

Yes, that's pretty much his point, people are retards and only seem to care about visual privacy.

>62 posters
>0 mentions for "band-aid" so you can block the camera and still do telco meetings
This is how I know that none of you are employed nor should anyone take any of you seriously.

It looks like shit, put a little piece of paper over it and cover it with electrical tape at least.

I have never once had to listen in on a meeting with my computer in my life and I guarantee I'm worth more than you.
