Overclocking
>Use PBO on Ryzen. Legacy overclocking is defunct on Ryzen 2#00X CPUs. youtube.com/watch?v=FC3fsVk9Sss

CPUs
>R3 2200G - Bare minimum gaming (dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>i7-8700K - Best for 1080p gaming, but most expensive when factoring in delid, high-end cooler, etc.
>R7 2700/X - Best high-end gaming/mixed usage on a non-HEDT platform
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT

Motherboards
>Only Z300 series Intel boards can utilize fast memory

RAM
>8GB - Enough for most gaming use
>16GB - Standard for heavy use
>32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this much
>Current CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal

Graphics cards
1080p
>RX 570/580 /w Freesync or 1060 6GB are standard 1080p 60fps+ options
>1050Ti or RX560 for lower settings 1080p, or older games
>GTX 1070Ti/Vega 56 if seeking higher fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
1440p
>Vega 56 /w Freesync, 1070Ti if you already have Gsync
>GTX 1080Ti if seeking higher fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
2160p(4K)
>Titan V
OpenCL work
>Vega 64

Storage
>Consider StoreMi
>Consider getting a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & large HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Monitors
>Always consider FreeSync with AMD cards
>Lock to 72fps on 144hz non-Gsync monitors with Nvidia cards to prevent tearing on more demanding games

>trying to get W7 to work on Ryzen
Man fuck this shit, Im going to Best Buy and picking up a W10 cd.

Do I need to wipe my drive before installing? Or can I just throw it on top of the W7 I just installed.

Attached: rLNk3hN.jpg (640x640, 52K)

Just use Windows 10 2016 LTSB?
You can but you shouldn't.

You can download an installer to put on a USB from Microsoft's website, you tard.

Hey monkeys. Watch and learn. This is how it's done. You think you're hot shit? You think you can build a good PC? Tut tut. This right here is the culmination of seventeen plus years of experience and of engagement in the world of computing. You can't beat that. I dont have a fackin USB layin around so I guess Ill go buy that instead.

Guess Ill format this thing first. What a pain.

best cpu to pair with a GTX 1070 ti? mostly gayming and some occasional work with vms

New LTSB coming out in a few months too

>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING

what's the best monitor for gaming below $250?

viewsync xg2401

>viewsync xg2401
you mean the ViewSonic XG2402
Because Freesync.

coming from an ultrasharp u2414h, do you think i'll notice the difference that much? is it even worth it?

Retard here, need some help choosing a motherboard for a Ryzen build, probably going to to with a 2600x.

pcpartpicker.com/product/TWzkcf/gigabyte-x470-aorus-ultra-gaming-atx-am4-motherboard-x470-aorus-ultra-gaming
This motherboard seems to be popular and cheap, but the reviews are pretty spooky, and people seem to be complaining about the VRM.

because I clicked on the wrong post

Corsair vegence 16gb drr4 ram is around £155 + £4 delivery. It's 43% off from around £270. Would it be worth getting? It looks like a decent deal to me.

It's not watercooled, and why the fuck would I need a 650W PSU for a system that doesn't reach 400W?

I have an old ass DVI monitor, is it compatible with new video cards (gtx 1070 ti)? The card says it has DVI-D

looks like it's time for a new monitor.
>1070
Open your wallet, cuz G-sync's gonna rape it.

Who gives a shit about memesync

Why aren't you overclocking ECC RAM instead of buying gamer RAM, Jow Forums?

people.
Go back to google, ai-bot.

Is a 1050ti good enough for 1080p gaming or should I aim for something more powerful?

it's meh

Its ok, just dont expect to max everything.

It's fine if you don't have to max things. Some games you'll have to play on medium-high or slightly lower.

If you want to play everything at high-highest settings, or even higher resolutions, get an RX580.

If you monitor only has DVI support, it's 1080p 60hz, isn't it? You shouldn't be wasting that much money for 1080p 60hz gaming.

Ryzen 5 2600X
ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS
Kingston HyperFags Predator 2x4gb 3000MHz

I'm about to do it. Bless my choice, /pcbg/

Is there really a safe way to use LTSB? I've done some research and I know there's a way to get a trial ISO from microsoft and then convert it into an ISO for a full install, but how do you keep it licensed? I don't want to have to run some sketchy Russian botnet on my PC forever. And I don't really want to have an obvious KMS folder at the root of my C: drive that MS or any other program could so easily spot and know I'm cheating.

LTSB really sounds like the perfect version of Windows 10, I wish they weren't so secretive about it.

Good luck, if you don't frog post after you built it your system will short circuit.

Attached: 1494311006284.jpg (1280x1280, 479K)

Retailers show xg2401 with freesync in my country. Also, 2401 colours > 2402.

You cant oc shit with that board lul

That's it lads I bought one of those 1060s miners just dumped.
Hope my VS450 PSU can handle it.

> 2x4gb

Fuck off

8gb will have to do for now, ram is expensive. I will get 16 in the future, probably.

Just use Microsoft Toolkit from MDL(The source).

You can use archive.fo/E37BY
For some reason it works.
Using 2016 LTSB on my laptop.

I'd really get a better board.

8gb is fine enough. Not like more can't be added later.

If possible save up for a X470 board. I have that one and it hasn't given me any issues but ideally you'd want more power phases

I don't really understand this post. MDL refers to a website I've seen referenced in other sources as a trustworthy place to download these tools. Looks like if i create an account on that forum I'll be able to see whatever you're talking about. Don't know what you mean by "(The source)." Are you just telling me that forum is the source of the toolkit, or is that a name or something?

How long have you been using it for? More than 90 days?
The solution of generating a real license sounds ideal, although I'd worry about MS purging it in the future and suddenly making my PC unusable. Also, the instructions don't all make sense, e.g.
>If using REG make sure the string is 7 digits long, the CMD will take the value from above.
Also, some of the links don't work and it seems very old. I see there is an automatic tool, is that what you used?

>Are you just telling me that forum is the source of the toolkit
Yes, most windows related cracks that are legit were developed there(Daz loader, Microsoft Toolkit, most Windows related hacks, etc).

Not that long. It says windows is activated though.
Also if MS decides to deactivate these licenses you'd just get that activate windows watermark until you find another solution to activate.

Also yeah I used that auto tool.

As for the instruction, it means adding 0s before the ID so it's 7 digits long.
You can add it manually with regedit.

Are games stagnating I'm terms of performance required?
Would the 2nd gen Ryzen 5 apps be enough?

So I just finished setting up my new build, and I have an issue. Ive got an SSD where I installed the OS, and a HDD. Both the SSD and HDD show up just fine in BIOS, but the OS is only recognizing the SSD. Why is that?

Attached: 1512404781889.jpg (600x449, 55K)

I'm not planning on overclocking. Originally I was going for an A320 but people convinced me to get a B350, AND not mATX.

Not when its 2x4gb. 4x4gb is a nightmare to work with so 2666 speed.

hehe, appy apps x3

How much does it cost for you? The Strix B350-F or B350 Krait Gaming are good options too

They're pretty expensive. I really just want something that'll last and not give me headaches.

Should I go with a WiFi adapter or powerline adapter if I live in a shitty house in UK?
I can't install an ethernet cable due to me renting the house, so that's not an option

Price range- £40

>4x4gb is a nightmare to work with
Why? I thought more channels was better.

Which is the best cooler and why?

The Prime B350-Plus should be fine, here's a sort of confirmation

Attached: Prime B350-Plus 2600X.png (830x207, 23K)

Unless you go threadripper/intel HEDT you are limited to dual channel. Due to shitty memory support and/or overloaded memory controllers 4 dimms struggle to reach same speeds as 2 dimms.

I want to create and buy PC Master Race build.
And I have $16,000.
Which PC parts should I buy?
And no, I can't afford a car, because I am one-eyed epileptic.

Do I need more than the standard 3x 4pin peripheral on a PSU? I'm worried I might not have enough, don't I need 3 of the connectors just to run plugin to 3 case fans and then 1 for the front dock of the case that has the USB/audio stuff?

Build: pcpartpicker.com/list/t7jJtg

Short answer is both.

Power line for a single PC and Wi-Fi for everything else.

You're epileptic and you want to use a computer? Good luck with that death wish.

Go to partition manager, set a letter to your HDD and format it.

It is being recognized, you just never assigned a letter for it and Windows doesn't do it automatically every time unlike Linux.
>TLDR wangblows being wangblows

>Also, 2401 colours > 2402.

Explain this.

i'll note this cause i was wondering if it would work
dammit it's an old meme, was hoping that was a porno

Not that kind of epilepsy.
I have an affective type: when seizure came - I get batshit mad.

after installing rubber fan mounts i discovered that it rattles not because of vibration but because the material is getting sucked in and hitting the rotating blades. Are there any fan filters that less flexible?

Have fun with exactly ZERO OC potential and shitty RAM.

Fuck phone postings.
I really need to buy a PC already.
But ffs I have only 400$ shekels.

>Shit PSU
>Z mobo for locked CPU
Your PSU has nothing to do with case fans.

So I have a 1080 ti and an older 1080p 60hz monitor. I want to upgrade to a new monitor if I got a 1440 144hz monitor would I be able to use both? Or does the difference in resolution and refresh rate make it hard to set up properly?

pls gib me adivice, I am(a girl btw) new to puters
>budget & CURRENCY
400min 700max usd

typing(lots),math stats models, reading(lots), Octave gis R, ect, preferably video editing, some gaming(optional)

$400 is enough to buy a PC for shitposting..

>I am a girl
Tits or GTFO.

How is this for a budget build? I've never built a pc before, would be looking to play some recentish games and emulate stuff like ps2 games, gamecube games etc.

Attached: pcbuild.jpg (1250x957, 117K)

yeah so i dont want a monitor that will destroy my retinas because i will me reading alot

ATX mobo with mATX case

>no tits still here
Tits or GTFO.

Gay

Consider a 2400G, a B350M mobo and a case with more airflow like the Focus G Mini

Attached: 8100Battlefield.png (1920x1080, 1.73M)

what would be a good price to get a 1080 or a 1080ti at right now?
i see the sales but don't buy one right away because i don't think it's a good deal but they get sold out a few minutes after

>>Z mobo for locked CPU
what does this mean? locked CPU?

Some Intel CPUs can't be overclocked.

Not him but why a 2400 over a 1600?

>what does this mean
In essence:
>I picked some shiny parts randomly because I felt like it
Maybe you want to do some research before buying.

Pentium gold

Yes, it's more difficult to OC 4 DIMMs than 2 with a dual channel memory controller. But you should still be able to run higher than 2666. It ultimately depends on the memory.
If normally you can only OC to 3200 CL15, then you'd likely need to do 3200 CL16 or 2933 CL15 instead.

2950X, x399m Taichi, 7nm Vega and/or Titan V, and 4 DIMMs of the best binned Samsung B-die you can find.

>I am(a girl btw) new to puters
How big is your dick?
>400min 700max usd
>intention
>typing(lots),math stats models, reading(lots), Octave gis R, ect, preferably video editing, some gaming(optional)
Closest I can do is $718
pcpartpicker.com/list/nZqPKB
That's including an IPS 75hz monitor, 2600X, and RX560 that are both currently on sale.

If that's too expensive.. remove the GPU, and get the B450 Mortar board when it launches later this month, since it has good memory support and display port in addition to hdmi. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UpA77uujHLlSTXgwD__loqPGQudKsf4OgLa040bG2F4/edit#gid=0
That should save around $120.

And for anyone else looking for fast, cheap RAM, this RAM is 2800 CL16 @ 1.2v. Should OC very well. Might actually be Samsung B-die, it seems? Though I don't know, probably not since Samsung B-die is usually(only?) in 8Gb DIMMs. But either way, I'd get this RAM for manual OCing or even to just run stock if you can only afford 2x4Gb.

Get 2200G instead, as you can overclock it to better than 8100 performance and you have 7nm upgrade next year. If you are sticking with 8100, you don't need a z370 board for an 8100. B360 or H370 are fine.
And get an SSD.
Otherwise, that's a decent first attempt. Only we can't see the price to really know.

Technically, you can fit a full ATX motherboard in a case like that.

$475 for 1080 if it's not a shit model like the Armor.
$625 for 1080Ti.

Attached: ATX in mATX.jpg (640x480, 61K)

are b-stock cards even worth buying? or should i just go for a new one

Ryzen 1000 series isn't great for gaming because of the poorer memory latency.
It's fine for 60+fps in AAA games, but lots of indie games like Factorio and shit really need the low memory latency. I'd recommend 2400G, i5-8400, 2600X, and probably the upcoming 2500X for gaming.

2600X. It's been on sale lately as well.

I looked it up. 1920x1200 @ 60hz is the maximum from DVI.
So yeah, you'd have to be a retard to buy anything more than an RX580 or 1060 6Gb to feed a DVI connection.

That ADATA Ram is now $140, get cheaper RAM.

Someone in the thread mentioned the RX580. Some GPU prices are starting to come down in price, but it may be a better GPU to the 1050ti. Also, the 8400 can't be overclocked, which means you don't need that mobo. A B360 is what you want or a CPU that can be overclocked (For intel, they end in a K and Ryzens can be OC'd)

Anyone in this thread know if the RX580 is shit or not? A 1060 is still ridiculous.

>$475 for 1080
>$625 for 1080Ti
Where the fuck do you find those prices?

Considering people are getting DoA ones and EVGA is charging them $20 to ship them back, no fuck EVGA now.

I don't buy their bullshit excuse about miners, either.
They should allow one free shipment to cover warranty from each address. Just make ADDITIONAL CARDS, since miners have a lot, cost more.

The b-stock deals aren't even that fucking good lately, either. $200 for a "REFURBISHED" single fan 1060 6Gb when there have been new RX580 8Gb cards for around $240.

1080Ti was on sale for like $612 yesterday or the day before.
And 1080 is simply pointless to get for any more than that when you can get the 1070Ti or Vega56 instead. Don't be retarded.

Amazon Mexico has those prices., not sure how the US ones are.

Hey Jow Forums
I finished my build the other day, and it worked fine, I downloaded steam and installed all my games back onto it, ran a couple for a few minutes to see how the rig did, and it worked great.
Today, I go to turn it on and Windows stops the process and says “Critical Process Died” it just seems very vague and I don’t know what the problem would even be. Can you guys give me a place to start troubleshooting?

It also does not recognize my DH15 as an active fan, but the fan itself spins and works fine.

Attached: 872533B2-9BD4-48BF-B260-F44926E163DE.jpg (3024x4032, 2.33M)

>Considering people are getting DoA ones and EVGA is charging them $20 to ship them back, no fuck EVGA now.
Only in Europe, so does everyone else except Zotac, XFX and Sapphire in Europe.
In Mexico, Canada and US they have free RMA shipping.

I thought EVGA was charging to ship back for RMA in the US as well. COuld swear I've been hearing that in these threads and someone linked to a page about why they were charging now.

RAM is usually the cause of such problems. But your memory shouldn't be crashing at only 2133MHz.
And are you sure it doesn't go in the A1 and B1 slots, as well?

Nothing really looks out of the ordinary there except that your RAM stepped down. Try enabling XMP profile to start with.

>tfw I'm a corelet stuck on LGA 1151 platform with shitty i3 6100
>tfw my upgrade routes are overpriced gaymur CPUs like 6700 or 7700 K or non K
How low could the 1920x and 1950x drop in price in august?

Attached: 1518286699971.jpg (750x546, 32K)

Thank you very much!

Is your CPU fan plugged into the CPU fan header or CHA2 FAN?

I thought the manual recommended those slots, but I could be wrong. Have any idea why my CPU fan isn’t registering?

>Only works well on AMD cards
>Nvidia still defaults to DX11, when even Intel iGPU runs DX12 fine.
So many good days lately. I don't know why people put up with a company that constantly holds back improvements in graphics and performance from newer APIs.
First they held back keeping shit on DX8 and DX9 with their bullshit rebranded cards in the FX era. Now holding back with DX11 and OpenGL when DX12 and Vulkan are vastly superior.

Idk but 1900X was like $280 or some shit yesterday.

I have a feeling that 1950X supply is probably fairly low considering they're top binned dies and there's only been a handful of ~$650 sales.
But I hope you're not planning on getting them for gaming. You should be getting 2000 series Ryzen for gaming.
I've seen 7700s for like $250, maybe lower. Make sure you have alerts set for sales.

Yeah, you did it correctly, then. A2 and B2.

>Have any idea why my CPU fan isn’t registering?
Is it plugged into the CPU fan header and not chasis one?
Those are extremely simply components and they shouldn't fail.

When are we expecting Nvidia to announce the new cards? I know it's supposed to be this month, but is there any conference coming up soon or something?
