Australian prime ministers for desktops and foreign ministers for laptops

If I could change it I would make it NAVI, but my dumb teenage self hired someone to build it, so now I'm stuck with "xtreme."

Since I use a lot of different tech on and off, I stopped using any naming scheme because it just complicates things. My X201 is just called "X201" and all other things are called by their official name. If I have two of the same thing, I just name them by their purpose. What's the benefit of assigning anime names to your tech?

SHODAN, AM, Xerxes or HAL9000

Usually just people/objects/locations from sci-fi novels. My last home server was arrakis. Don't bully.

I always make references to model/brand names.
I've named my NAS “ChinkCentre”.

Attached: hostname.png (1600x900, 186K)

I have exactly 3 computers in service at any time.
Usually a desktop, a laptop, and a home mini server.
Desktop is always named Shurelia.
Laptop is always named Frelia.
Server is always named Tilia.

I normally name mine like Icarus, Daedalus, Minotaur, Minos, ect.

Desktop's Hyperion and laptop's Vega.
Named after celestial bodies.

I just use the ethernet MAC address for hostnames.

>desktop
>old desktop
>laptop

>giving names to inanimate objects
autismo

I just use the model name.
>my T410s is "T410s"
>my T430s is "T430s"
>my Y700 is "Y700"
don't know what I'm gonna name my desktop though.

I name my desktops after DC superheroes/supervillains and my laptops after sidekicks. Ran a headless server for a few years and that was JLA Watchtower.

Kaijus
>Gigan
>Mothra
>Rodan
etc.

My laptop is named "overheating piece of trash"
Yes its HP

>Yes its HP
based

I just use the periodic table

hydrogen
helium
...

Do you go by the element's number, the groups, or just pick the coolest sounding elements?

element numbers, and usually I use the last part of their local adresses

xxx.xxx.xxx.8 -> oxygen

That is not a bad idea

If you actually have use for it, sure, but if you're just using a notebook for whatever and just dhcp your adresses in random wifi networks you use its quite useless and inconsistent

I just use it when it makes sense

>Hacker Machine
>1337 Box
>Anti NSA Cube

Nice try, NSA.
