>For monitors, include purpose (e.g. photo editing, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)
>Don't use Speccy, you retard. Use HWinfo, SIV, etc.

Overclocking
>Use PBO on Ryzen. Legacy overclocking is defunct on Ryzen 2#00X CPUs. youtube.com/watch?v=FC3fsVk9Sss

CPUs
>R3 2200G - Bare minimum gaming (dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>i7-8700K - Best for 1080p gaming, but most expensive when factoring in delid, high-end cooler, etc.
>R7 2700/X - Best high-end gaming/mixed usage on a non-HEDT platform
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT

Motherboards
>Only Z300 series Intel boards can utilize fast memory

RAM
>8GB - Enough for most gaming use
>16GB - Standard for heavy use
>32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this much
>Current CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal

Graphics cards
1080p
>RX 570/580 /w Freesync or 1060 6GB are standard 1080p 60fps+ options
>1050Ti or RX560 for lower settings 1080p, or older games
>GTX 1070Ti/Vega 56 if seeking higher fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
1440p
>Vega 56 /w Freesync, 1070Ti if you already have Gsync
>GTX 1080Ti if seeking higher fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
2160p(4K)
>Titan V
OpenCL work
>Vega 64

Storage
>Consider StoreMi
>Consider getting a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & large HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Monitors
>Always consider FreeSync with AMD cards
>Lock to 72fps on 144hz non-Gsync monitors with Nvidia cards to prevent tearing on more demanding games
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING

im thinking of getting these. refurb dual xeon2680 v2, 32gb. or could it be better to just do a threadripper build?

im do in architectural renderings as a side job.

You are probably better off with a more recent build. Makes it easier to upgrade in the future also.

>budget, location & usage
If your budget is $500 and usage low-end gaming this is okay, but..
Wait for B450 to arrive, should come withing the week, and make sure you have at least 2 fans in your PC (1 in, 1 out).
Since you'll be gaming on the APU make sure you get a mobo with both VRMs being cooled, for example ASRock B450M Pro4.
RAM other than b-die can make problems, so make sure it's verified to run on your board, easiest way is checking the QVL.

I'm about to give up, second SSD with shit sustained sequential write (ADATA SU650 120GB, see pic). Are there no 120GB SSDs that can at the very least rival HDDs in sustained sequential write (my old as fuck WD gets ~170MB/s and this shit is only ~60MB/s)?

Any recommendations for a 120/144Hz monitor?

What are the good PC hardware recommended for someone who want to start programming.
want to build a machine dedicated to programming and NOT gayming at all (programming, web browsing and virtualization are the only things that i want to use it for), and i want it to last for 5 years at least.
Also do i need more than one monitor or is it just a meme?!

Attached: hhh.png (189x204, 23K)

I'm going to be upgrading my CPU soon. Will be mainly gaming with some light streaming on a 1440p 144Hz monitor paired with an UV/OC Vega 56.

I'm planning on doing some modest OC but if I'm not going to delid or use a $50+ cooler is the 8700K worth it or should I just go with a 2700X?.

pcpartpicker.com/list/fTLndX

I wanted to stay below 1100 € but a bit more is fine.
uses are multi purpose, games, video editing and illustration (both professional and not).
I already have a monitor so the one there is to match the one i have
I did this quickly without any research first, I just went with what seems powerful because I've been using the same laptop for so many years now and I'm going crazy I just want a really good pc, I chose the non K CPU because I know I won't overclock it and the 1080 because why the fuck not I'll prob get a 1440p monitor in the future

>streaming and gaming 1440p 144Hz
>don't want to OC or buy expensive cooler
2700X + X470 + 3200 CL14 is what you want. For modest OC the stock cooler is perfectly fine.

i can replace the proc to a higher clock and core count as they are more affordable in ebay.

>locked CPU
>on Z board
>shit PSU

More than one monitor is a meme. It can be useful for reading if you flip the screen on the side but everything else can also be done with the "Desktops" program from Sysinternals.
EXCEPT for game programming. I guess a second monitor would be really nice for that.

please explain to me what's wrong, as I said I didn't do any research so it's very possible I made bad choices

It's almost like you get what you pay for....whoa

What are the best b350 Ryzen 2xxx gen mother board manufacturers from best to worst?

Attached: 1516975104506.png (720x672, 401K)

Point me to a good 120GB SSD that doesn't cost more than the same company's same model's bigger version (looking at you, shitsung).

Get 600-650w psu. Rest is fine

How's this for "Just wait for 7nm+ everything" build?
Will add B450 mobo when they become available.
Last of my three B100s shat the bed so i want to try gaymen mouse meme for once.
Will also add case and SSD later since order can't go above 1000 euro and no one other than CU delivers to my shithole.

Which $30 mouse should I get?

G203 or Corsair Harpoon?

>locked CPU
>Z board
You are free to use google.
All budget Corsair PSUs are shit, avoid them.

>120GB SSD
There's your problem, smaller SSDs perform worse and if you want a fast SSD for sequential R/W get NVMe anyways.

I've been looking for a compact mATX case that can hold at least 2 (3+ is preferred) 3.5" HDDs.

Lian Li's V320X looks pretty good, but the price is a bit steep at 230 CAD (American Newegg has a 30% coupon right now, which I'm honestly jealous of).

Other options I've been looking at are the following.

Bitfenix Prodigy M
I've had the mini ITX version before, which was okay, except for the worthless handles and stands that makes it large.

Bitfenix Phenom
Has identical internal layout to the Prodigy M, except that it doesn't have a fucking external cutout for the 5.25" bay which is really dumb.

Jonsbo makes some compact mATX cases too, but most of them are limited on 3.5" bays.

Any experience with any of the above cases?

Attached: 11-112-570-V03.jpg (1280x960, 59K)

I'm retarded.

I explained why the locked cpu

Yes but really, do google it.

Where's your SSD?

>can't name it
If you don't know enough to help then don't reply to me or my wife's posts ever again.

oh, sorry didn't understand right; that's the kind of error that happens when not doing researches, but I'll do them before actually buying the parts, that mobo just seemed good and not too expensive

Thanks, I'll look into that. Already have some leftover 3000 CL16 ram though, good enough or would going 3200 CL14 be worth it?

Help

If you can sell the other RAM you wouldn't pay much, imo worth it.

I'm building my first pc with a 1070ti as the gpu. Which monitor would be better?

In the Asus BIOS when I pick manual it doesnt let me insert a number and just stays 1,12V

Alright, thank you for the replies. I'll do some more research with this as a base.

Read the fucking manual.

no

purpose of the build?

Your loss, next time buy locked Intel if you refuse to read.

I don't want to spend too much for a facebook craptop drive and the 'best' brands either don't have 120GB drives or the drives are priced the same as their 250GB drives.
I would accept paying similar $/GB as Sasmung's 240GB for half the performance, but I'm only getting like 1/5 of Samsung's performance and that is not OK.
Seriously, is there no 120GB SSD with sustained seq writes at least comparable to a HDD (~200MB/s) which doesn't cost more than Samsung's 250GB SSD?

I just built my computer and when i booted the mobo gave me a warning that said i put the ram in the wrong slots (1 and 3 instead of 2 and 4) I ignored the warnings, boosted my memory clocks to 3000 mhz and checked cpu-z. It says the ram is running in dual channel mode so i assume its fine. i obviously could just swap out the ram but i would have to dismount my noctua cooler because the fan blocks the RAM

amazon.com/AOC-G2460PF-24-Inch-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B01BV1XBEI/ref=sxts_k2p_hero2?tag=monitnerds-20&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
is this a decent monitor?
I currently have
support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03618424
this I think, its says HP pavilion 22 bw in the bottom right at least. Would this other monitor be a significant upgrade? will my rx 580 8gb going to be able to keep up with it as 144hz?

realizing i can just hook everything up with zip ties instead of having to deal with a non-magnetic screwdriver is a life saver

for same price? which one

First time delidding, how'd I do?

Attached: mdASK5S.jpg (1196x2125, 555K)

The 2600X is better binned, has better memory compatibility and the stock cooler should be enough for 4.2GHz or more with PBO

that's not what i'm reading. it's loud, temps are in the high 80s and it doesn't go past 4ghz on multiple cores with pbo

>fell for the AMD meme
>Vega came with Hynix dice
>Prism cooler is obnoxious to install
>had to take it off to flip it around because it wouldn't reach to the case fan controller
>stock paste everywhere, had to reapply
>case fan controller is fucked anyway and unusable

>StoreMI refuses to activate

Don't make the same mistake that I did Anonymeese. Just buy Intel/Nvidia, it just works.

best matx on the market is the corsair 280x rgb.

I have this issue every time I get new ram: I have 16GB DDR4 installed (2x8GB) but Windows shows 8GB is hardware reserved. I have tried different RAM slots and it either doesnt post because they're in the wrong slots or the result is the same. Both ram sticks tested individually work. Any ideas on how to fix?

Good or bad?

Swap the mobo for a PC Mate, in the last thread someone reported the Pro4 dying so they're still avoidable, the kit could be cheaper and a modular PSU like the 620 EVO would be better

if you're gonna be shitposting on it than I guess it's ok. All the other specs are laughable.

>1030 4GB

Did you update the BIOS?

Check this. While they're not enabled by default they do MAX out to your current specs.
Back when I had upgraded from an Athlon X2 to a Phenom X4 for some reason it was enabled for only 2 cores.

Yup, updated to the newest version.

I checked there and the checkbox is unchecked.

The mATX one, check the last thread. Any B350 with a heatsink over the SoC that's not the Gaming Pro, Pro4 or Biostar should be fine

>See reviews on every B350 board
>All of them have severe problems

But no peace of mind in buying mobos either ffs.

Meh, my current PC is even more laughable (Sempron 140, 1GB ram, on-board video HD 4200), but it's enough for my needs like watching 720p, running PS, and browsing net. All I need is ability to play some games on high in that resolution. I tested few for a start and it seems to be running them fine.

If you are paying that much for a b360 might aswell get a z370+3200 ram for $30 more which will give you about 5-10% more fps and better 1% lows. This or get a cheaper b360.
Also this psu model is trash. Go for a 550 txm or supernova whichever is cheaper.

CL 15 or CL 16?
Is team vulkan and patrol viper ddr4 3000 good for ryzen?
Not going to be using a 1080 ti so I don't care about b-die overclocking and any of that as the only difference with overclocked RAM shows with a 1080 ti.

Thank you.

Don't mind the thread derailing shill
It's not terrible but there's no 4GB 1030 and you could get an Optiplex with more RAM and storage, if possible save up $150 more and get 2200G+B350+2x4GB

Decent build for the budget. Don't change the mobo, you want that 3+3 phase with VRM cooling when overclocking the APU.
Also read about MSI removing APU OC from BIOS lol.

Should I clean the thermal paste which comes with CPU fan's heatsink, or is it okay to keep that paste, apply another paste to the cpu and then install the fan?

>only difference with overclockes RAM shows with a 1080ti
Not true at all. It's a must to get a bdie with ryzen pretty much or intel shits on it.

you should clean it, otherwise it will perform worse than if you never released the tension in the first place

Not really. Just be sure to buy some not too big plastic/rubber washers and don't screw too hard or too loose, else you break everything.

pcpartpicker.com/list/Y4BdxG
I already have the GPU. (I would buy a GTX 1060, but don't really have money for that.)
