if your bare metal runs macOS, then why bother running linux in a vm? you already have a certified unix OS with a minix micro/hybridkernel modified with a hunk of BSD stuff for networking and security.... which means it's a better OS than any linux, especially the ones using behemouth piece of crap systemd

i mean, it is though. FreeBSD is a better OS than any linux too. or any of the BSDs...

the only upside to linux is GPL. therefore the open source guys who work on supporting all the hardware go to linux, as opposed to the BSDs. other than that, it's not so great in terms of the design (monolithic kernels kinda suck, systemd is horrid). BSDs at least don't have systemd, but macOS has the strengths of BSD plus minix inspirations for its kernel, leading to a better micro-kernel-esque design.
