Is there a non-botnet site/method to verify internet speed?

yeah mate! its called not using the internet, because the idea of connecting to the internet and not being “apart” of a botnet is fucking ridiculous and inevitable. suck it up and do the damn speed test you wanker!

Only in America.
Stop living in a backwater shithole.

log all of your requests and capture the transfer rate into a histogram you fuckin pleb.

Who cares about the internet speed you paid for.
It's about the internet speed that you use.
If you go to three sites all day long and all of them throttle you to 1MB/s then there ain't much meaning in getting the more expensive line is it?

Fast.com is run by Netflix on their video servers so should give accurate speeds

confirmed not to understand how networks work

Why wouldn't an ISP favor traffic to/from a popular speed testing site?

Because they don't need to. They just put the speedtest server inside of their network. Which is the correct way to do it - contracted speeds are only within your ISPs network, there's no guarantee that you can access any site on the internet at X Mbps

This makes sense.

>open command prompt
>ping google.com
>divide packet size by response time
>internet speed

Good answer. Bookmarked.

Are you mentally retarded? You do realize that these speedtests do nothing but downloading, uploading and pinging right? You can all do that without having to rely on these shitty tests to figure out your "internet speed"

What do you mean? Obviously irl you're not going to reach your theoretical bandwidth with every single website/server you're connecting to.

Yeah i figured out not to rely on them when i moved and my room mates internet is shit, the test is showing everythings fine, but im pretty sure the fact that he got (i think) a cheap ass modem for a house with 3 people, one hardwired computer, 2 xbones, a laptop that probably shouldnt be working, and a desktop with a shitty usb wireless adaptor probbably has something to do with the nonexistent download speeds and constant dropping of connections

Found some gameplay in YouTube with less 1000 views and use.

rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/

Forgot to mention that half those devices are on the other side of the house roughly 25 feet away from the modems wifi

>log all of your requests and capture the transfer rate into a histogram you fuckin pleb.
but wouldnt that also count handshakes etc in the transfer time?
probably not what you want to measure
