This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
Previous Thread: () Whos up for a challenge /wt/? Get a cheap casio shitter and mod it with your own vision in mind. I'll give you a month to make this happen (DO NOT FORGET THIS POST).
Winner gets a Philippe Dufour Simplicity with Archieluxury's signature on the caseback.
Also we get some fresh oc content to these threads.
If you want to go full dress, the Orient Bambino (literally any version, v1 to v4, even the open heart and small seconds) will fit
If you are on even more of a budget, any of the dressier Seiko 5's will do, and you could probably get two for about $250.
Both the Orients and the Seikos can be bought from Longislandwatch if you're a stickler for buying things through proper channels and proper warranties, you could get them even cheaper on the grey market if you look, but at those prices there's not really a point in not buying original
why bother with overpriced basic-bitch japshit. You can get very nice Chinese watches for around that price. Brands worth looking at Parnis, Guanqin, Alpha. Pic related is a guanqin nomos lambda homage.
if your looking at replicas that may be the case. Otherwise they're pretty good, if you're afraid you can pick up the ones with miyotas in them.

The car comparison is the new meme?

There is a difference between making homages and making a replica with a different name slapped on Hell, the Guanqin watch in your photo has the energy reserve hours written in German for no reason other than the fact that the original watch did it

the original is 20k+ and very rare/difficult to find. The guanqin is €60. Anyway, who gives a shit, it looks better than any Japshit "original" watch anywhere near it in price. I prefer blatant homages, because they look good. I only hear "waah, you can't have that it's too cool for you, buy this ugly seiko 5 instead" from people like you.

I feel that this is going to turn into an argument, but if you're happy with your Chinese watch then go ahead Personally, I would recommend that if you want to get anything, at least get something with the decency to pretend like some original thought was put into it. Stuff like the Seagull 1963 is unashamedly Chinese, even if it basically cloned a Swiss movement, because at least they put their own spin on it.

I haven't posted on Jow Forums since 2016 and I only came back today because it's still my best source for wallpapers but I happened to see this thread on the front page and I just got a new watch, so...
That's not how spoilers work... And I don't think joining Invicta had much influence on the actual watch design/mechanics - Wikipedia tells me Glycine's primary involvement is "developing distribution and marketing strategies for the company [Invicta]."
