Going from what I gathered during these weeks for choosing my first pair of mid/hi-fi headphones is that there are lots of marketers/shills trying to sell you products and making lots of not trustworthy reviews on the internet or general opinions that don't really reflect the actual quality of the headphones in subject. The gaming industry was already pretty bad in this regard but holy fuck, the hi-fi industry seems even worse.
