eval(..)

It’s a more iconic piece of code.

sorry for being autist

>inverse sqrt more iconic than hello world
lol

It's pretty iconic desu

literally everyone who starts programming learns about hello world. carmacks fast inverse is simply a neat piece of code hyped by people who think its a secret hack.

>Trash bracket style
The fuck is wrong with you

THat's the ONLY good and symmetrical way to place brackets

>being this dumb

Bracket style doesn't apply to functions. Opening and closing brackets of functions should be on their own lines and indented (or, rather, not indented) the same as the functions' headers.

Fight me

I really don't get it. Is this cryptic shit THAT much faster than 1/sqrt(num)?

Yes. sqrt is a very expensive function

It was probably a performance bottleneck in the original Quake (the source of the function IIRC). Computers today are faster so I don't think it's needed any more.

>main()
this is madness!

Not anymore, rsqrt has hardware support on pretty much all modern processors. Back in the day it was a major bottleneck for normalizing vectors used in calculating lighting.

10 PRINT "OP IS A FAG!"
20 GOTO 10

Noice. GW-Basic was my first langfu.

Can someone explain the "what the fuck" line and the lines above and below?

I dont know C, what it is actually setting i to?

Using PRINT instead of ?

While is more convenient, the one that appears on the media is generally print.

kek

This is some hacky, but pretty performant way to calculate the inverse square root used in quake III arena

Even children know about it.

Did you mean (eval ,..)?

Well it does require some basic math knowledge to understand whats with the magic number and the iterations while anything that can type can write a program that says "hello world". It's pretty sweet imho.

I didn't even think about it
