Why is the tech industry so obsessed with the idea of "getting along with your boss" and "fun work enviornment, workplace culture.
Are there any companies left with a hierchical, command type system where your boss' word is the word of god and theres a decent amount of fear and respect for your boss?
Is there any job that still views work as a duty and responsibility instead of a extension of life?
Are there any companies that force you to conform to a certain set of beliefs/culture simply to maintain cohesion?
I quit my job in the public sector Now working for a private company The whole fake friendly and open atmosphere is so fucking dreadful Hurr durr le openness le energy Fuck this shit
Carter Reed
Good goy
Luis Jones
>Is there any job that still views work as a duty and responsibility instead of a extension of life?
>Are there any companies that force you to conform to a certain set of beliefs/culture simply to maintain cohesion? Oh there are plenty still like this
But you don't want to join them, trust me. Just check out your nearest military recruiter's office if you don't believe me.
Jacob Thompson
But I do. I hate the ideas of individuality and openess.
Jaxon Reyes
>implying there's anything bad with separating work and everything else This whole """"openness"""" bullshit is so fucking awful. Too many companies nowadays try to force a work/life integration instead of a work/life balance.
Aaron Young
you must be chinese then
Juan Powell
Dumb cuck. Seriously.
getting along with your boss is the best thing for a company as a whole. Not just for you as an employee but also because your output will be better. Happy employees make good work and are willing to go the extra mile if necessary. This is especially important in the software industry where many products are unique (or at least should aim to be unique, else you aren't gonna get customers most likely), so you an't just mass produce it without regard for your employees like you would be able to for e.g. in an industrial production plant.
Jaxon Torres
>being too retarded to understand work morale
Dylan Thompson
"boss" cunt detected
Colton Moore
Not him but getting along with people in general helps massively in life.
Grayson Flores
Loyal employees make the best products. You do something wrong as a employer and the employees get pissed off.
You cant erase the power disparity between boss and employee so embrace it.
Caleb Taylor
Id rather have loyal employees that respect and fear me than happy ones.
Adam James
>fear Nobody 'fears' their boss they'll just think they're a cunt
Parker Gray
Move to Japan
Nicholas Collins
And what about the respect part?
Xavier Sanchez
Respect and getting along isnt mutual exclusive. Being an authoritarian dick in a branch where the employee has more power over the product than the employee is a sure way to make your company fold. Good people wont put up with your shit and leave, because they know their worth.
Chase Johnson
Already have a offer and am waiting on the visa my friend
Its irrelevant and makes things complicated whether your boss is likeable. You step on toes and your employees throw a fit.
Grayson Rogers
The two possibilities are bad In a work environment of fun there is hypocrisy In a hierarchical workplace it would be a sad place The truth is that programmers need to work from home where the most convenient environment This idiotic insistence that the programmer should come to the office was never understood by me
>Are there any companies left with a hierchical, command type system where your boss' word is the word of god and theres a decent amount of fear and respect for your boss?
In the service industry, this is all there is. I think you'd be a good fit for it.
Not everyone can handle the responsibility that goes along with making your own decisions. Some people legitimately need a big, strong man to come in and tell them how to live their lives. These people tend to lurk Jow Forums and occasionally spill over here.
Blake Myers
Do you have daddy issues or something?
Bentley Torres
Thhey outrank you. Despite what you think respect dosent have to be earned. Or rather by them being in thisbposition they instantly deserve respect.
Isaac Morris
But you have no employees because you are incompetent when working in groups, just like some other autists, betas
Nathan Martin
>fear Fear what? Being fired? Plenty other fish in the sea. Physical violence or mobbing? Try. Even if your ass isn't sued to oblivion, it's PR poison, it'll do you more harm than them in the end.
>respect Again - for what? If you have any qualities worth respect, you don't need to be an ass to get it, and so you will be *less* respected in the end than you would as not an utter cunt.
Plus, as much fear as you might inspire, it only works for things you're aware of. You're just encouraging the employees to better hide their slacking off at best.
Charles Flores
I respect my bosses because they are competent and experienced, so I can learn from them. I respect my bosses because they know how to be good leaders and keep their employees feeling happy and valued. If my bosses started acting like cunts, I'd quit because I have marketable, desirable skills and could easily find a job elsewhere. If I needed somebody shouting orders at me in order to feel validated, I'd either find a dominatrix or join the army.
Adam Peterson
>Despite what you think respect dosent have to be earned.
That's where you're wrong kiddo.
Isaiah James
Your boss is basically your butler today
Oliver Cox
>loyal >fear/respect Are you retarded?
Evan Watson
>tfw you ask your boss to grab you some coffee.
Cooper Long
Sounds like you want to join the military OP
Gabriel Watson
sounds like gay porn is the industry for you
Grayson Fisher
Enjoy having your entire codebase sabotaged irreversibly for 1-2 years while your best people leave.
Charles Lewis
Not my project, not my problem. I'm there for the cash and I want some autistic cuck more experienced than me to guide me towards the fastest way to earn a paycheck.
Cooper Brown
i wouldnt
Mason Taylor
My guess would be that most companies are like what you describe, it's just that some have a thin veneer of egalitarianism to disguise it.
Xavier Harris
If you become true friends with your boss (not just work friends/acquaintances), you can slack off and get away with it
Connor Gomez
Is this some weird dom fantasy you have going on here? Yikes.
