2/10. Sage

Every Laptop I have owned has had out-of-box driver support for the WiFi.

>linux users be like "finally got the wifi working"
No that's just the below-average IQ winfags who try Linux for the first time and struggle with it because they do everything wrong. They also always just click "Next, Next, Next" without reading anything because that's how they do it on Windows. The fucked up, virus-infested Windows is the reason they got interested in Linux in the first place.

Even doing this, unless you buy some retarded hardware released less than a year ago, any Linux distro will have out of box WiFi.

You must be over 18 to post in Jow Forums.

>any Linux distro will have out of box WiFi.
Not the free ones.

Actual unironic samefag

One of those is me, so that's false. Better leave the sherlock stuff to people who are good at it.

Being one of them is a necessary condition for being all of them. Better leave this logic stuff to people with brains.

funny none of mine have.
the card in my laptop is not supported at all. do you expect me to write my own driver? Ive order a new card that is supported. i just needed a quick fix so i could get everything set up. for the record i did get it working with some ancient driver for a different card. its not stable at all.
i figured everyone would get the joke, but apparently not. this board has been taken over by reddit rick and morty watchers.

Kill yourself shitskin normie

t. brainlet

Same except my old daily driver laptop (old sony vaio) .. I'd have to connect to Ethernet to download and install wireless drivers. I suppose it heavily depends on the laptop.

Laptop model?
By the way a quick fix is to use ethernet.

Goodbye, shill. I hope you starve.

I winced.

To be fair, before Windows 10, many laptops required you to do this for a fresh Windows install as well.

lol, no eth port. i dont know the model. i got it for free because the power button was fucked. before you monkeys freak out ive ordered another smt momentary switch. pic is another temporary fix.

I actually never knew that... I have never installed windows on a laptop (Currently I just buy a used thinkpad w/o a hdd *since I'd just put in an ssd anyway* and slap linux on it) or uninstall windows and put on debian in the case of my old laptops.

The more you know I suppose

I don't know what your problem is, but you must not be too bright. It only took me about 45 minutes to get my distro up and running, listening to Willie Nelson now just jammin.
You should really learn how to enjoy life young man, it's only time until we have to go.

>windows users be like ayy I bought a closed source binary infested firmware on my mobo

>why the fuck aren't people redistributing it illegally for me

>why didn't I buy a intel or qualcomm wifi board instead of a cheap chinker broadcom

REEE FUCK LINUX

>oh shit I didn't know I could click include proprietary firmware in the installer or even sideload via USB post install -> /usr/lib/firmware

NOPE THIS IS LINUX FAULT
C:

You being right will not stop me from pointing out that spacing.

Correction, they do.
Just not with closed source firmware ie broadcom hardware.

Qualcomm/intel both provide open source and work off the bat on even trisquel/parabola/debian or guixsd

>manufactures sell proprietary hardware
>write proprietary drivers that only support windblows
>moronic consumers buy this shitty hardware instead of open hardware, or at least hardware with open-source driver support
>this is somehow the fault of Linux or Linux distros
How retarded can you be?

Never had a laptop or distro that I eventually didn't get wifi to work. I have had laptops and distros that was a pain in the ass to get it to work, but I alays manage to get them working.
Try harder.

but see, this is the central issue: most people are tech-illiterate.
They aren't gonna understand 'binary blobs' or 'proprietary firmware' or whatever. All they know is "Laptop Wifi worked on Windows. Laptop Wifi doesn't work on Linux. Therefore, Windows is better and Linux sucks."
So either you have to redpill the entire general population and get them past the "what's a computer?" level of technological understanding, or Linux is gonna have to support their Wifi situation, one way or another.

On my 2004 dell latitude windows 7 recognized neither wi fi adapter nor sound card, i wasn't even able to check brands and models of those
contrary, it showed everything properly on puppy linux
where is your just werkz capability now?

you faggots need to chill out.
>i didnt buy this laptop
>i already bought a new wireless card that is supported
>i never once blamed linux
how retarded can you be?
to be honest its probably just some power management setting. it disconnects exactly every 10 minutes. ive had the same problem on other laptops. however the only drivers i could find are not even for that specific card and are not maintained. i want to use this laptop as a sort of vnc terminal for my desktop so i can work around the house. also it has and upgradable wifi card. so instead of screwing with it im just going to upgrade it to a wireless ac card with linux support.

Is it too difficult to install broadcom drivers?
