>For monitors, include purpose (e.g. photo editing, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)
>Don't use Speccy, you retard. Use HWinfo, SIV, etc.

Overclocking
>Use PBO on Ryzen. Legacy overclocking is defunct on Ryzen 2#00X CPUs. youtube.com/watch?v=FC3fsVk9Sss

CPUs
>R3 2200G - Bare minimum gaming (dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale
>R5 2600/X - Good multithreaded work use CPUs
>i5-8400 - Best value for gaming
>i7-8700K - Best for 1080p gaming, but most expensive when factoring in delid, high-end cooler, etc.
>R7 2700/X - Best mixed usage
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT

Motherboards
>Only Z300 series Intel boards can utilize fast memory

RAM
>8GB - Enough for most gaming use
>16GB - Standard for heavy use
>32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this much
>Current CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal

Graphics cards
1080p
>RX 570/580 /w Freesync or 1060 6GB are standard 1080p 60fps+ options
>1050Ti or RX560 for lower settings 1080p, or older games
>GTX 1070Ti if seeking higher fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
1440p
>1070Ti, G-sync optional
>GTX 1080Ti if seeking higher fps & you have a CPU + monitor to match
2160p(4K)
>Titan V
OpenCL work
>Vega 64

Storage
>Consider StoreMi
>Consider getting a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & large HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Monitors
>Always consider FreeSync with AMD cards
>Lock to 72fps on 144hz non-Gsync monitors with Nvidia cards to prevent tearing on more demanding games
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING

Based and redpilled

>w-we need a new thread reeeeee

wait for it, it's coming.

should add a caveat about the 8400 being shit for futureproofing

repost from last thread
Currently running dual X5550, looking at upgrading. According to Intlel's website, I can't go higher than a 4 core, but I thought X5650 being Nehalem, too, would be able to just slot in and be fine.
Is this possible? Can I just buy some X56*0's and call it a day?
Or am I wrong and simply just retarded?
I know Intel is a meme about forcing people to a newer platform.

Should add a caveat about 2600 needing $100 more to get same perf as a 8400 on last threads

>still no 1440p HDR10 monitor with ULMB without BLB for a reasonable price
why even live?

that's not in question. but it's a fact the 8400 gets maxed out in current games.

>in current games
You mean 1% of the games

I WANT TO BELIEVE THAT 1100 SERIES WILL COME SOON
I
WANT
TO
BELIEVEEEEEEEEEE

>buy amd now, it's gonna be really good in the future

it already happens is the point, and it's just going to get more and more common.

I'm currently building a new PC, should i wait before buying a 1080? It's still quite expensive but I don't know how much the prices will be more interesting with the release of the new series in the coming months. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At least they'll talk about it at Hot Chips.

Yes, wait. the 1180 will shit over the 1080ti and hopefully be cheaper.

btw lads what the fuck is this
wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-2080-ti-benchmark-leak/

will they call it the 11xx or the 20xx cards?

Depends if you are in hurry or not. Most rumors talk about something before the end of the summer.

What is the general consensus on 2.5 in HDDs? I want to replace my bulky 2tb 3.5 in HDD with a smaller 2.5 in 2tb hdd. I'm not sure I even need that much storage but I want to have it just in case.

Attached: seagate.jpg (1500x1500, 268K)

>Yes, wait. the 1180 will shit over the 1080ti and hopefully be cheaper.
Best guess will be about 10% better with a little less power usage. Might be more expensive than the current 1080, but still should be significantly cheaper than the 1080ti.
>btw lads what the fuck is this
That news is about two weeks old and proven to have absolutely zero credibility

>hopefully be cheaper
Won't. AMD has nothing to compete against the 1180, Nvidia is sittng on massive Pascal stock and mining fiesta has shown Nvidia that customers are willing to pay.
1180 will mist likely be more expensive than the 1080Ti. Unless you need the 1180 performance or want to wager it I'd buy a 1070Ti on sale until september.

Why would you want to replace 3.5" desktop HDDs with 2.5"? It makes no sense.

It would be replacing my bulky WD blue 2tb 5400rmh HDD. (pictured towards center left)

thanks, and thank you to all the other anons who posted

that mb is 200 euros here, the x470 gaming pro is 130 euros

wanted to wait for new gpu so prices go lower and maybe cop one of the newer ones to stay futureproof
the 1070 ti's are 500-550 euro here, which I find insane

>using a 300€ lightning fast SSD to store poor quality pornographic material
sorry, bud. Not my style.

Remember to wait for Navi and zen2

This if muh eye candy matters go for m.2. Much more expensive but you not only gain space you also gain speed. No need for a very expensive 970 Pro though.

>that mb is 200 euros here, the x470 gaming pro is 130 euros
>200€ for Niggabyte AORUS Gaymen Ultra
Absolute blatant ripoff.

If I build a PC that uses a SSD + HDD combo will my videos take a long time to get started if the player is installed on the SSD (for example MPC-HC) but the video itself is on the HDD?

did some of you got your pc and monitor from amazon and got it delivered in your country? did it get to your adress safe and not broken? I want to order one using amazon since i have some money on my paypal and it's easier to pay for it like this

Of course. It needs to load the movie from the slower HDD that may need to spin up first....

you're talking a matter of seconds

I see, thanks. I'm guessing this is something people just deal with. I could get a 500 gb ssd + 4tb 7200rpm hdd for the same price as a 2tb ssd which is nuts

Maybe my computer is just bad but it takes me literally 20 secs from double clicking to get the video to start for the first time on my HDD. However if I close the player and open a new video after the first load it only takes 2 secs.

Anyone have the sheet where there are listed the best builds for different money ranges?

what's a good air cooler around 30 euro for use with lga1151 but also compatible with ryzen in the future? been using liquid cooling for 3 years now and want to change before that shit breaks and fries my mobo

Attached: IMG-20180706-WA0006.jpg (550x413, 72K)

my hyper 212 works just fine at cooling my 8700. Temps stay below 42 when I'm gayming and 31 at idle.

So my build/ssd is still fairly new, if i leave it off for a week (say due to a temporary hospital stay for example) or maybe two would i experience any significant data loss? It's a 850 evo 500gb running on win7 if that's any help

Attached: 1499575095271.jpg (315x244, 25K)

I have my movies on standard HDD. I do start MPC-HC+MAD first but when I load even 2160p BD rips it stutters for just a fraction of a second, 1080p is completely fine.
HDD spin-up is the issue when it has been idling before but seriously that's not worth getting an expensive SSD when you have TBs of movies.

This it just werks on multiple platforms with mounting kits.

You're good. That decay doesn't happen that quickly.

thanks. do I get the newest version, or is it not worth it?

Got a Ryzen 7 2700x, asus rog crosshair hero vii, and this trident z 3200 cl14 16gb ram sitting here.

Was going to buy the 1080 ti in 2 weeks, but considering waiting for 1180.

According to pc part picker, it seems i wont implode my pc by installing everything else right now so that all i have to fuck with is the gpu later.

Does putting a 5850 on this build seem ok until i get the gpu. Ok as in of course itll be bottlenecked and not run shit but not die

Attached: Clipboard04.jpg (3100x915, 206K)

I have the evo, look up the difference between the 212 evo and x.

wait for 1180
btw how's the c7 for gayming? Is there any burn in at all? I'm fucking torn between buying an oled telly and a regular lcd one.

my question isnt so much get 1080 ti or wait, its whichever i go for will i fuck up my pc or any part of it by installing these other parts until i get a new gpu. or if it will even be compatible (pcpartpicker doesnt have the exact exact gpu i have but double checking here i guess)

c7 looks beautiful which i value over smoothness and all. i dont play online. i recently read it only goes up to 120hz but some people saying they only get 60

I'm building a small computer for CAD and some mid-core gaming. What components should I pick for a 200w pico psu?
I will be using 750ti "oc edition" by gigabyte, most likely, and a micro itx motherboard.

The H7 or the Mugen 5 Rev. B for a bit more

Build me a good PC for less than $1200

I'd rather not.

Come on guys

Or at least, is it possible?

A real CPU and a normal GPU are already quite hard on that 200W PSU, have you thought about a Ryzen APU build? That would work.

If possible save up for a X470 Gaming Plus or a B450 Gaming Pro Carbon

Updated
Https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fDhCD2

well an i7-8700 is a moronic buy so that one's out, especially with the stock ""cooler""

Here, the X470 Gaming Plus or B450 Gaming Pro Carbon should have better memory compatibility than the Aorus Ultra
pcpartpicker.com/list/xjLMw6

Unironically recommending poozen lol

Looking for a larger monitor to replace a broken 32" TV once used with my PC & PS4 Pro. It will primarily be used for work and vidya (fps, tps & rts). Currently torn between 1440p @ 144hz and 4k @ 60hz. The screen has to be in the 32-44" range (27" could work). Also interested in the possibility of hdr for the ps4.

Found a couple of contenders so far (prices converted to usd):
Acer Predator XZ321QU (570$)
Samsung C32HG70QQ (790$)
LG 27UK650 (610$)
Philips 436M6VBPAB (890$) (Budget limit)

Current PC :
GPU - r9 290
CPU - i5 2500k @ 4,4 GHz
RAM - 16 GB ddr3
This rig will get replaced by the end of the year.

Any advice, /pcbg/?

Attached: x4.jpg (1129x1600, 159K)

Why the fuck does everyone tell me to look into AMD cards whenever I mention a 1050ti?

The Gaming Plus has better heatsinks and should be cheaper, you could save some money with a 620 EVO

Because the 580 is a lot better for $10-50 more depending on the model

legit and I'm an Nvidia shill
beyond that price level stick with Nvi 100%.

MSI 1070ti Gaming X worth it for $655?

Because the 1050Ti is garbage that never made sense until it was the most powerful GPU not caught up in the crypto BS

no. $450? Yes, but no more than $500 at absolute most

Damn non USA hardware prices.

Kangaroo dollars? Yes

Does it make sense to buy b-die memory if I'm going to game at 1440p with a vega 56 anyway?

How do I choose a new monitor? I'm having trouble deciding what monitor I would like for my new build.
I'm looking at getting a 1080Ti once the newer card drops along with all the prices.

Hayao Miyazaki never said that.

Attached: 1529236700486.jpg (1500x2176, 3.47M)

Not roo but
>$728 for the same card in rooland
fucking hell at these prices. No fucking way will the 1180 retail for sub 1k burger dollars. I guess I'll wait for prices to fall to ~600 here before buying.

just buy the pg279q, don't look at anything else. It'll run perfectly with the 1080ti. 1440p 144hz is ideal in today's time.

so ive hooked up my new pc and everything seems to be fine so far. ive tested games and no problems

do i have to now install nvidia's drivers from their site or can i leave that alone if im not having any problems?

Of course you must install it.

shills brother, shills. no one recommends AMD. i still to this day haven't found a single publication which wholeheartedly recommends AMD over Nvidia. it's always "AMD could be a better buy if it's $50 cheaper" or "even though this Nvidia card is faster freesync support could be something to consider with AMD" style narratives. the 1050 ti was a brilliant card for the perf/watt it offered because it didn't even need a power connector and slotted straight into low end pc's or toasters with ease.

i think it's actually the 2nd most used GPU out of all steam users iirc

"Wait for Navi." - Hayao Miyazaki

this is a controversial opinion but the gtx1080 is a better purchase for 1440p 144hz unless you want to never have to worry about FPS again

I wanna change to microATX, what's the modt recommended Z370 mobo?

If you really meant that you'd tell him to get the ti

EVGA

Because a 580 8GB is $250-300 and you can buy a nice 2560x1080p 75hz freesync IPS ultrawide for $300. Like the OP says, shop your graphics card towards your monitor, and when you go AMD it works out to be really good value.

ATX Cases that are quiet and can sit 4 HDD + 2 SDD?
Currently have an R4, but I'll be moving overseas, so I'll take everything except the case and fans with me.
Thingken of H440 since it's cheaper than the R6 (where I'm going to be living). Though the modularity of the internals and parts of the R6 may be worth the extra cost.

What are other options my negroids?

Attached: large_a7d87daa0fdfc4ea.png (900x900, 148K)

Thought so, arigatou

Attached: 1CDB7387-104C-4BFF-B881-18EE7A8E908C.png (600x746, 520K)

honestly reading my response and then his post i really made zero sense.

if you're going to get a 1080ti then you'll want a 4k 60hz display with g-sync. or if you've got money to drop then buy a 1440p 144hz g-sync ultrawide and enjoy the wonder of modern electronics.

But really there isn't a perfect monitor for the 1080ti until we get a 4k 100hz gsync display that can really make use of the card's capability

can i leave the motherboard and other drivers alone tho? im nervous messing with this stuff and id prefer not to if i dont have to

navi when

Will the RAM manufacturers be forced to stop price fixing by next summer? I'm not paying $250 for 16GB of RAM when that cost me $50 a year and a half ago

January most likely

how

depends on what CPU you want to use, what sort of I/O you want, if you need wifi, etc

what RAM costs $250? the most expensive RAM i see (that doesn't seem to be a clerical error) is GSkilll RGB 4266 that is selling for $300. there are a lot of quality 3000mhz kits that are selling for 160-180

How do I interpret this table?
I understand that it means I'll get the full speed with a single rank of RAM (one DIMM) in A2 by itself, or with one in A2 and another in B2 (which is how I configured it). However, I do not understand what the difference between "dual rank" in both the A and B slots, vs "single rank" in A1/A2/B1/B2. Either way that means four DIMMs, one in each slot, right? So why are the maximum speeds different?

Furthermore, when I installed 3000MHz RAM in A2 and B2, the auto config set it up as 2400MHz and I had to go into the overclocking settings to select 2933MHz. Did I do something wrong? I thought I understood what I was doing, but the proper installation and configuration of RAM is the area most lacking in instruction in the various manuals I received with my parts.

Attached: DDR4 Support.png (379x329, 22K)

I paid $28.99 for 8GB not on sale and it is now priced at $76.99 for the same RAM. I'm not paying those prices.

if you look really closely it reads 'this is why a lot of people don't fuck with ryzen'

CES

If this is true I can only imagine how much the 1180Ti will hurt, god damn..
