SystemD just werks

>systemD just werks
What the fuck is this? Did I get memed by Poetterring?

the best one is for waiting 2 minutes until it kills some service on poweroff

Getting cucked by pootering.

Install Devuan.

This. I stopped using systemd and now my computer boots and shuts down faster. My system is now rock solid and I haven't seen a single error. No problems whatsoever. Fuck systemd.

>Upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04
>First boot
>Waiting for like 15 minutes
>What the fuck?
>After some digging turns out some chucklefuck thought it would be a good idea to wait for 10 minutes for a DHCP connection.
I mean what the fuck? Why?

that's ubuntu developers fault tho for setting up the services to wait for 10 minutes if faulty

>removing packages
>keeping init system scripts
>booting machine
>throws errors
>post pics on de/g/enerate
>mimimi poettering memed me

>failing to unmount on poweroff
>90+ seconds booting

never faced these problems before systemd, what's even the point

I only just recently learned that you can press ctrl-alt-del to skip the countdown and go straight for shutdown... only after I fully 'systemd-ised' my 'services'.....

Hello Poetterring. This is a fresh install of fedora, I did not remove or add any scripts

I wish I could find a nonsystemd that just werks but that doesn't fucking exist because despite claiming the itherwise the Linux community is extremely restrictive

Let's make a nonsystemd but it's a pain in the ass to install for the hundredth time .
Let's make a nonsystemd but installing new things on the system is basically a pipe dream.

HOW ABOUT YOU MAKE UBUNTU BUT WITHOUT SYSTEMD.

That's why I switched to Slackware. My previous systemd distro failed while I was doing my MSc thesis... I fucking hate systemshit

>HOW ABOUT YOU MAKE UBUNTU BUT WITHOUT SYSTEMD.
If you are using ubuntu, you are not smart enough to understand w/ and w/o systemd systems.

Memed, steamed, and creamed.
Pottery.

and its only going to get worse

fucking chromium

>Poettery
fify

thanks, good fix

Harry Poettering and the Chamber of Secrets
Harry Poettering and the Prisoner of GNU/Linux

>mfw I've been using systemd for 6y without issue
Though when on Ubuntu, I found upstart to be fine as well.

Holy kek

How did it fail?

Install gentoo, devuan, void, slackware or something and stop being an idiot.

I got censored on r/linuxmeme for saying that systemd was bad and anti-unix philosophy

Go back, faggot.

>2025 minus 7
>he doesn’t use systemd
Hahaha enjoy your stability and concision fucking scrub

That is what you get for not building your own installation.
btw I use arch.

>I use arch
Arch uses systemd

>reached target shutdown
>go to sleep
>wake up the next morning
>pc is still on with the same message on screen

Werks on mine machine.
Germans can make even shit like systemD werk.

>Failed to start
It can mean anything. Read the logs instead of shitposting, faggot. Log into the recovery console (you'll need the root password) and journalctl -xe then figure out what's wrong.

Remember the good ol' days before systemd
*crack*
Back when initialization systems weren't so complex
*sips*

>Let's make a nonsystemd but installing new things on the system is basically a pipe dream.
Void Linux.

>not using crux
You deserve this!

Unironically, is crux worth using ?

Yes. It's worth it.

I started getting the same shit yesterday

failed to load kernel module

I'm thinking about removing systemD but fear I will screw everything up *sigh*

>systemd just werks
that pile of shit has never worked properly on any system I've seen it on.

Attached: 1459629726116.jpg (540x405, 67K)

Just install Devuan or MX Linux.

humm I might just do that, I'm currently using arch which I think is alright and was looking into ways of removing systemshit.

If you like arch, there are versions without systemd. I use parabola openrc, everything just werks.

Ubuntu 18.04 is the ultimate canonical shitfest? Cant remember any previous LTS being such a mess

>the absolute state of linuxfags
Don't mind me, just over here having 0 issues with windows 7.

>linux fags still on linux after it wanting to be Windows
There are plenty of options for free Unix today.

Name one with current LaTeX distribution.

well I found out what program was causing the problem, it was virtualbox which I installed yesterday and never setup, so it isn't a systemd issue. But I think i'd still like to use a distro with out it, Gentoo uses openrc, I've never installed gentoo before, my question would be, is it just a meme distro or is it actually any good once configured properly?

>windows 7
And once that is no longer a solution, what are you going to use? windows 10?

You're a fucking idiot.

But why the fuck should installing virtual box prevent your entire system from being usable?

>talks shit about arch and systemd
>running virtual box instead of systemd containers
you are truly retarded
go kill yourself
now

>he's assblasted because his free OS sucks so he gets mad at windows users

Attached: images.jpg (225x225, 6K)

>Latex.
Real Unix Programmers use Troff.

Attached: myimage.png (1212x563, 96K)

Oh yes you did.
Here let me share my story to make you feel better.
>press power button
>systemd appears on my screen
>"Running scheduled update man-db cache :^)"
>wait an entire hour
>look up on phone wtf is that supposed to mean
>all I see are posts from people saying how it lasted a minute or two on their machines
>turns out it silently crashed
>forcefully reboot
>xorg broken
>"(EE) No screens found :^)"
And if you're looking at systemd-less distros:
>Parabola is a meme unless you have a X200 or similar
>Void and Devuan might be good.
>ArtixBang can be used for a fresh standard minimal Arch install but without systemd

Attached: 1532124345553.png (812x806, 1.42M)

>linux breaks

WOW ITS FUCKING NOTHING

It will break down regardless of the distro you choose to use (systemd or not) unless you workaround its flaws.

I refuse to update my T60 home server because there's a 50% possibility it won't boot and I'm tired of troubleshooting that shit again.

>There are none
That's what I thought.
>Real Unix programmers
I'm a researcher in academia and not a Unix coder.

Does devaun support Vega11 graphics out of the box?

>That's what I thought.
You're not a very good "researcher"
I've found 3 Unix derives with current texlive.
1 even allows you to build it from source.

It isn't, the system boots fine, it just fails to find 4 modules related to vbox.
I had no idea you could do that, but after checking on the wiki it would appear that it has limitations
>OS in a light-weight namespace container

>go kill yourself

Oh yeah I should really kill myself because some clown on the internet told me too, get fucked tardboy.

Yeah I was pretty assblasted at the amount of bloat microshit put into windows 10 and the fact it kept asking me to do shit like add my phone. yea yea I can remove all that shit, but why even fucking bother? Microshit will just keep moving the goal posts and add ever more malware into all versions of windows.

>I'm one of a over 300 billion archlinux using "Researchers"
So 2017 texlive can't do what you want but the 2 month old 2018 texlive does? Bullshit.

Free/Dragonfly uses fucking 2015.
>Archlinux
Bad implication, try again.

>You're not a very good "researcher"
I like how you both put that in quotations.
>I've found 3 Unix derives with current texlive.
List
>1 even allows you to build it from source.
Sure, let's compile instruments and potentially fuck up updates if I have something from forts instead of actually doing my job.

>List
OpenBSD texlive is as new as debian/centos (2017)
OpenIndiana is 2017 using joyent/pkgsrc.
You suck at "research".

Arch is assumed since they build whatever shit upstream shits out without patching.

>let's compile instruments
You're so full of shit if you think a document prep system as an instrument.
Stop larping.

This is why I uninstalled Arch. Fuck not shutting down when I tell it to.

Is this why I had problems with cinnamon on fedora?

Why do I not have this problem on Arch?
Using i3 and NetworkManager and a quick sudo shutdown -h now shuts it down instantly.

Install GuixSD(and gentoo)

>Use Ubuntu 18.04 for server
>Hangs for a while every boot
>Doesn't give static IP despite correct config.
>Turns out there's a bug related to systemd "predictable" naming
I like how simple systemd makes things, but good god is it shitty spaghetti under the hood.

Attached: 1528330829095.jpg (200x198, 11K)

Hello fuckwad, you are a lying faggot.
I've installed Fedora on enough computers by now to know that you manipulated the system purposely for your shitpost.
