I remember like 2 months ago everyone told me topping amps are mediocre and only the dacs are worth buying. Now I see the amps get shilled here too. So tell me how much does topping pay you?

Topping amps aren't bad, its just their high output impedance makes them a poor choice for low impedance dynamic headphones. But yes their DACs are far better than their amps.

buy stax

Magni 3 and Modi 2 are coming in tomorrow for use with my HD 600's. Now I'm seeing these Topping posts.

The same shit happened when I picked up my M50x's years back. I still enjoyed them a lot, but even at lower volumes, my initial impression of the HD 600's is personally favorable. But nonetheless I can never shake the feeling that I bought fucking memes when I come back to these threads after making a purchase.

the magni and modi are fine

>Magni 3 and Modi 2 are coming in tomorrow for use with my HD 600's. Now I'm seeing these Topping posts.
nobody here would have recommended schiit for like 8 months now, schiit are absolute garbage and people here say it all the time

God fucking damn it.

Please help anons, I need to make a long lasting decision.

I really hate plastic shit, I don't trust it. So even though I liked the Takstar Pro 82, they're out because of that. Looking into Takstar HI 2050s over the Beyer DT770s, what do you guys think? Are the DT770s otherwise my only choice in this price range for a very big comfy fit? Anyone have an opinion on the Sivga SV006?

Attached: 1531148838259.jpg (379x382, 27K)

magni 3 is ok for the price but it fuck up the highs a bit, it's only a problem with brigther headphones as everything sound really harsh on it
modi on the other hand is absolute garbage, all versions of it are fucked up

this is the modi 2 multibit, green line is supposed to be a sine wave

I'd like to lick her feet.

Modi is trash. Magni is legit the best amp at that price if you're American.

Hey /hpg/
Is BA bass faster than DD bass? For IEMs of course

Anyone have the Takstar Pro82? How are they?

anyone here finds hd600's the opposite of comfy? compared to 598's they suck balls, my head starts to hurt after several hours and my hair are a mess whenever i take them off

I sold my schiit stack last month and bought cheaper gear that sounds better lmao

i was referencing the broom, but i'll take being a loli any day

Well considering I have no point of reference for external DACs, I'm going to give them a shot. I've been reading about the Modi 2 since I posted and while the measurements are undeniable, I'll be completely honest and not expect anything sensible in return - I don't know if it's actually going to matter in practice.

I have a lot of respect for the people who do objective audio analysis - it's way over my head at this point. But if I can enjoy four years of M50x's despite their reputation in the audiophile community, I'm willing to take a chance here. Worst case, I buy a better DAC.

If you were able to sell a Modi 2 in 2018, I'm not too concerned about the hit.

what's the depth on those zmf? website doesn't say

I have the original Ember. Great amp. Tons of power, adjustable output impedance (down to 0.1R), output cap bypass, endless tube choices and self-biasing. I put in the Supercharger (now standard) to roll in higher draw tubes, which are the best choice IME. Great for planars, doesn't break a sweat while my Vali 2 needs high gain mode and a lot more volume. I do have to use their -20dB adapter for my sensitive, low impedance cans as the old models have really high gain.

The shit hand-me-down earbuds I was using for listening to while biking died today so it's time to bite the bullet on a new set. I got used to the convenience of having an in-line remote on the wire so that's the primary feature I'm after.
Only real requirements:
1.) has ios-compatible in-line remote control for ipod use
2.) decent sound quality
3.) preferably sub-$100
4.) won't fall the fuck out of my ears when I turn corners

>Budget
$100; I'd go higher but they have to be really fucking fantastic to justify it.

Going to buy some nice cans later this year so I'm not looking to sink a huge amount of money into these, but I will pay more for quality. Give me all your opinions.

I was looking at Sennheiser's CX 5.00i and Final's E3000, but the latter don't have in-lines so that's probably not gonna work.

Now I'm wondering if it's possible to make a Focal 'Clex'. I hate how the Clear looks, but the drivers seem to be compatible with the Elex. Anyone have any teardown pics of the Elex/Elear/Clear?

>way cheaper
>the same build essential unless you beleive in (((german))) craftsmanship
>worse audio quality but not by much
>based on the takstar pro 80 which did everything right
sounds about right, stay mad faggots

what about the clear professional?

The red is ugly as fuck in my opinion. I guess you could buy utopia pads and an elear headband for it though.

i was on it but cancelled and got hd600s on fleabay in a few days, worth it.

>Pro 80
Outclassed by the Pro 82 now.

By the way, there's going to be a "gaming headset" version of the Pro 82 at some point in the future.

How so? the design of the 80 is superior to the plastic the 82 comes in. It literally mirrors the DT-770 which is by far the best sub $200 closed headset a gamer would choose. The Cloud Core sells for half the price of the Beyer though and I personally can't justify telling a Jow Forumsentleman to shekel out $100 more

medium.com/@Xander51/headphone-showdown-takstar-pro-82-vs-takstar-pro-80-hyperx-cloud-ii-594e9ec565ae

for reference^ I have the Cloud Core with angled HM5 pads and it's amazing

Recommend me some earbuds that:
1. cancel out noise, even when I'm doing something loud like cutting the grass.
2. Don't leak sound, so people around don't hear what I'm listening to
3. In the $0 - 75 range
4. Won't fall apart in a week
5. Have decent sound quality and are comfortable

Magni 3 was a good idea.
Modi 2... a terrible one. You should have paid a little attention here, and got Topping or OL-DAC.

Klipsch R6 or R6 II or if an iOS user R6i II.

Forgot to post the source, but I'll be plugging it into my galaxy s7.

actually if you want a headset for gaming, the Cloud Alpha is currently the best build/sound/comfort you can get at below $100

Thank you. I went with the R6 II

Schiit Fulla 2 (unironically).

It's total garbage

Is there any benefit to using an SPDIF optical cable instead of Asynchronous USB on my headphone amp+dac? I stumbled upon a cable exactly like pic related in a drawer. I found a coaxial cable too, but my PC doesn't have a port for that

Attached: spdif.jpg (568x496, 15K)

good to hear. hopefully the price and quality will make up for the wait, im pretty impatient

If you have a ground loop/other noise issue from your PC or a USB DDC that's better than your DAC's. Optical from your PC isn't going to be anything special.

Okay, thanks

How does that jds element pair with your he500? Is that schiit valhalla?

I am going to need some help here, i just bought an hd800 and would like an all in one. Would the element pair well with it? I am also considerig lyr 3 with it as well.

what amps are you considering, don't bother with the lyr

What are the best mid-priced soundwhoring headphones for gaymen? I already own HD600 for music and like it for everything else, but it just feels a bit too closed up for vidya.

I know that HD800 is the ultimate soundstage headphone, but I’m not going to pay so much for a headphone that doesn’t interest me with its sound signature. I’ve been thinking about AKG K702/712, apparently they have good soundstages, K702 having the larger one at cost of sounding a bit thin otherwise. But thinness isn’t really a problem for me, as I would use it only for vidya with the intent of getting as good soundstage as possible. They also aren’t that expensive, K712 goes for ~200€ and K702 for ~130€.

Anyone here have any experience on using AKGs for that purpose?
