Hi David

Nah OP is right, servers are literally down as of now

Maybe if you are living in Murica

Yep
Nope it's down in Europe too

Italian here. Quite surprisingly I don't see any of my old chats over at web.telegram.org.

lol imagine actually living in America
but nah seems to be worldwide mostly, and is slowing going online

is this that app that got astroturfed everywhere by the cia during the arab spring?

Wtf is telegram x?

An alternative client built around the API if you'd like some more power-user-esque features. I personally don't use it yet because of a lack of themes and is buggy, seems to be getting better tho

Where should I move to with my friends?
Wire or Signal?

Both are fine but Wire doesn't need your phone number, so take it as you will

Yep, it's morto.

Why move? Telegram servers are only down temporarily

Wire is bloated, unstable and lacks many features, signal is made by a shady jew and needs google services

Matrix

So that's why it didn't work. Fug.

Back up now uk

Kind of off topic but I've recently found that telegram is great for less than legal stuff (gcam ports, deezloader).

Anyone here got any other recommendations of channels that are in this category ?

The only correct answer

Good ruski pigs shouldnt spread their shit

Yeah only Jewnited States of America should

Brainsless piece of shit
Either your a ivan letting his cloak down or your retarded as shit

Attached: 1531688912597.png (574x601, 189K)

Works fine here.

>be americuck trumptard
>want to bff with the worst shithole on earth
Someone shits on the shithole
>assume he supports golden shower
Wew lad

Telegram servers may eventually go down and all ruskys are shady anyway.

I'd really like to know what to use next

Wickr, signal, threema

>all ruskys are shady anyway.
Yess yesssss fear them, listen to MSNBC and believe everything! YESSSS!!!

You sound like hillary

Meme
>unironically telling people to use signal

Spastic

Why not just use Facebook messenger?

Are you retarded non?

Speaking of MSNBC, I had a gigantic laugh at their spin on that Russian at NRA.

Story elsewhere:
>gun rights advocate who was gun rights advocate already in Russia has been member of NRA while in USA, suspected but not judged guilty of espionage

MSNBC version:
>NRA has deep ties to Russian spy!!!!

Attached: maki0050.jpg (235x256, 22K)

Eh
i don't have any online friends

>Discord for pedos and IS terrorists finally shuts down servers

Good, hope it stays that way

>Kind of off topic but I've recently found that telegram is great for less than legal stuff (gcam ports, deezloader).
>Anyone here got any other recommendations of channels that are in this category ?
Shameless self bump

Why would anyone use free apps? I use Threema. Giving them money gives them a carrot to care about privacy.

>pedos
Dumb meme

Matrix

Signal users are the ones that belong in a mental institution

GNU Ring or XMPP?
Don't want to use something that requires a cellphone

Works on my machine™.

t. Californiafag

tried gnu ring but it was kind of buddy, I was trying to use it for video calling though, regular calls might work well.
Ring is easy to setup and use but at least like 4 months ago I had some bad issues trying to login again.

Pretty sure it was DOA considering the inherent insecurity of the SMS protocol which CANNOT be addressed.

Bad bait, try harder

>metadata isn't important anyway

>bloated
>lacking features
You're contradicting yourself

Attached: Comparison of IMs.png (827x560, 104K)

who made this graph? Since when is Riot/Matrix not open source?

>that outdated garbage graph
>doesn't know bloat doesn't mean features
Kys newfag

It's slightly outdated

>newfag
>oldgraph
0 logic

Newfag to Jow Forums thinking his old graph is relevant

Wire

The only difference is Riot's servers being open source. Kys.

The graph was shit when it came out and it's even worse now. What a joke.

>signal is made by a shady jew and needs google services
false, it don't need GApps

nope, nope, nope
telegram is also and always has been shit

xmpp or wire are the ONLY good options
even riot is better than the shit you listed

Why is it shit? Colors not pretty enough for you or something?

Wire - stop this meme shit

"In May 2017, Motherboard published an article saying that the Wire servers "keep a list of all the users a customer contacted until they delete their account". Wire Swiss confirmed that the statement was accurate, saying that they keep the data in order to "help with syncing conversations across multiple devices", and that they might change their approach in the future."

"Wire maintains the following metadata about conversations on the backend
servers:
•Creator: The user who created the conversation.
•Timestamp: The UTC timestamp when the conversation was created.
•Participants list: The list of users who are participants of that conver-
sation and their devices. This information is used by clients to display
participants of the group and to perform end-to-end encryption between
clients (see Wire Security Whitepaper for further details).
•Conversation name: Every user can name or rename a group conversation."

"In December 2016, Wire's whitepapers were reviewed by a security researcher at the University of Waterloo. The researcher praised Wire for its open approach to security, but identified serious issues that still need addressing. These included a man-in-the-middle attack on voice and video communications, possible audio and video leakage depending on unspecified codec parameters, the fact that all user passwords are uploaded to Wire's servers, significant attack surface for code replacement in the desktop client, and the fact that the server is not open sourced. The researcher described the security of Wire as weak in comparison to Signal, but also depicted its problems as surmountable."

Signal > Wire per security and privacy reasons,
but whatever, they both good alternatives, as they completely Open-Source,
not like Wickr

Signal - "Does the app encrypt metadata? = YES"
Wire - "Does the app encrypt metadata? = MOSTLY"

P.S. If you care about needing phone number to register, just get free pre-paid even internet one and forget about it.

>not using auto deleting messages

>3 millions
Meanwhile Whatsapp has almost 67 millions

100% sure signal does all of that shit
>can't even audit code

Both, Signal and Wire are Open Source, both were audited too.

but metadata is still stored on Wire servers

>not using xmpp

>was shit
No, you're just retarded. What more do you fucking want? It's a comparison of privacy features. You could remove the 2 proprietary shit ones and remove telegram because it isn't a privacy oriented messenger.

Metadata is useless. You're protecting the message contents, nobody cares when and to whom you've sent a message and knowing that information is useless.

Shit pasta. All this is irrelevant, messages are secure.
>Creator
>Timestamp
>Participants list
You need all 3 on a non-distributed service. And, IT'S LITERALLY NOTHING. Jesus fuck this pasta is shit and outdated:
>2016
>security researcher
Then he went back to review it again and literally said it now has the same issues as Signal plus some minor issues, but nothing you've listed. This is as stupid as saying Linux is insecure because v1.0 had thousands of bugs.

Above applies to this garbage too. Signal loses to wire on security and usability for the very fact it needs a SIM card to register, so it's not even worth considering let alone using.

>Metadata is useless. You're protecting the message contents, nobody cares when and to whom you've sent a message and knowing that information is useless.

Do you glow in the dark?

>already reached the point when he has no arguments left
Good, now everyone knows you're full of shit.

>Metadata is useless. You're protecting the message contents, nobody cares when and to whom you've sent a message and knowing that information is useless.

>they know you called/texted X but don't know what you're talking/texting about
Nobody cares. Especially when there isn't a better option except maybe Riot.im

Whatsapp download number is a meme, every time people were uninstalling it and downloading it again to renew the stupid time limit so it really doesn't count,

I'm talking about active users. Downloads are over a billion.

69 millions here

Attached: Screenshot_Google_Play_Store_20180729-185211.png (720x1280, 332K)

Ok then, my bad user.

It increased then

>More than 100 million downloads
>Ded
Nice try op. Find better bait next time.

>downloads
Check active users, retard.

>Could have had a multi-platform messaging client with actual features as the most popular in the world (i.e. most messaging apps as of now)
>Pajeets, Spics, and Europoors went for Whatsapp
*rea11y th1nks*

>all these shitty chat apps that keep going down
IRC just works, has less downtime on the major networks, is open, generally doesn't spy on you, and has a ton of clients to choose from.

>not using Signal

Attached: Signal_Blue_Icon.png (1024x1024, 15K)

It died for me when i got banned for a month for posting tits.

>devs roll their own crypto
no, thanks

Wait, banned from what? Telegram generally doesn't give a shit what you put through it, though illegal material in public channels can get you b&. They still won't usually help law enforcement locate you.

Or did a group you're in on it kick you out for posting NSFW in a group that decided it was for SFW discussion?

>for posting tits
I just told you what i got banned for.

Telegram itself don't give a shit about that. It's not a SFW-only platform and they don't spy on private chats.

Why the hell does it give me notifs for rooms ive muted tho
Instead of alerting for every message i get a notif every 3 days saying i have 1000's of unread messages
I cant find an option to turn this off someone help PLS

>expecting (((settings))) in a phone app

>Using an FBI honeypot.
