if you seriously need more than 800x600 to be productive you must either have terrible eyesight or the attention span of a child
either way you shouldn't be working with computers

Mine are 1440p and 1200p. These resolutions in your image are all terrible.

Can i use a 4K TV as a monitor? The experience will be smooth?

I'm thinking about gettint one too. Will I have any problems using one with a 1050ti? (I'm not gaming)

>1050ti
If you're gonna be gaming on that, then yes, you will run into problems.

Are you serious? I just said I don't game and asked if I'm going to run into problems as a non-gamer..

Well, if that's what you meant, maybe you should have made that a little more clear then.

im not buying into the 4k meme until 144hz oled is a thing

The relevant question for the topic ended at the question mark. Obviously I wasn't going to read something in parenthesis that came after the relevant question had already been asked. Try to think things through next time.

Did I do good anons, only issues is a cracked bezel and a small cluster of pixels that are always blue in the top corner of the screen that you kinda have to focus on to actually see.

You fucked up.

Thanks for explaining user, really taught me where I went wrong.

You're welcome, faggot. Don't do it again.

I've been using it for almost 4 years and I have no complaints.

Really depends what you mean by "tack advantage of the resolution".

4k has a few benefits depending on the screen size, at 24" or 27" it's good because you can scale to 200% or 150% (respectively) and still have legible text, but the quality is better since you have a 4k panel which provides a much smoother image with less jagged edges due to the increased pixel density.

On a larger 4k display, such as a 40-43" 4k display, the advantage is the pixel density is similar to a 22" 1080p or a 27" 1440p, but you have a MUCH larger screen, so text legibility is identical to your 22" 1080p, but now you have 4x the desktop space to work with.

Both large 4k and small 4k screens have their advantages.

>1080 = 1080p
>2160p = 4k

I will never not be upset at this

what really butters my noodle is when people call 1440p "2k"

2048x1080p is 2k, not 2560x1440p

What a misleading photo.
1080*2=2160
but the 2160p screen in the picture is clearly 4x the size of 1080p.

I know this is bait, but here. 4x1080p windows open on a 4k panel.

Remember your multiplying BOTH numbers by 2x.
So 1920*2 AND 1080*2
For 3840x2160p

>fads such as 4k

When you had a 480p TV did you consider 1080p a "fad"? Because that's the same difference between 1080p and 4k.

none because a true 4K ready PC would be around $2000

So you sit retardedly close? Even 25" 1440p at a normal desktop viewing distance is getting almost too small. 27" 1440p is ideal, at 21-22" 1080p is going to be ideal for most people's viewing distances.

Id rather have 1440 upresed to 4k than a straight 1440p monitor :)

Nah, normal distance. Text is very sharp (219 ppi!!) and can be read even if small. Also I hate big buttons, menus, window decoration, etc.

Then you should get a 27" 4k and scale it to 150% for 1440p.

dell p2715q. upgraded from another 1080 dell and it's great. totally worth every penny. if you're reading a lot then it's worth it for the fantastic font. 4k absolutely destroys anything below it in terms of font quality. it's sour grapes gaymer subhumans or idiots who are barely literate so they don't care about font quality

Um that's my point

I hate to be "that guy" but I still find qhd on the phone to be much preferable

>The amount of eyelets itt
I run my 13.3in 1440p laptop with scaling disabled. It's fine. I wish they made small desktop monitors as well, but 20in is like the hard limit.

Well he has a 21.5" 4k and is scaling it to 1440p, that was MY point.

You use a laptop closer to your face than you use a desktop, at least this is true for 90%+ of people.

>Being that poor

LMAO? I can't imagine it being hard to come up with 2000 dollars even if you're on minimum wage.

>what is diminishing returns
The returns from the 480 to 1080 jump aren't as great as 1080 to 4k, if we are talking about pc use. Tv is a different matter.

I just KNOW this poster is American.

>what is a student
>what are other life expenses

This. This is very upsetting

>Tv is a different matter.
You have it backwards, 4k is useless for TVs unless you have a MASSIVE screen, or sit SUPER close.

>4k is useless for TVs unless you have a MASSIVE screen
What sort of retard doesn't get a massive tv for their living room or bedroom? 55 inch is standard for living rooms. At least 55 inch.

By massive i mean 80"+

55" 4k looks like 1440p/1080p after 6 feet and most people sit further than 6 feet.

>The returns from the 480 to 1080 jump aren't as great as 1080 to 4k
I meant that the returns from 480 to 1080 are greater than 1080 to 4k.

look at the chart, this assumes average eyesight.

Attached: 1520801183330.png (1280x720, 65K)

But I don't tho. Arms length away. My desktop at work is the same distance and they are absolutely fucking terrible. Fucking 24in 1080p, I want to die I have to move my eyes so much. I don't have a desktop at home currently

my eyes

Then you're abnormal.
Simple as that user, feel good knowing YOU'RE a special snowflake.

Aren't these already out?

yes, but they're so shitty you'd be retarded buying one.

you mean the 144hz 4k monitor that has 8bit+frc but is advertised as "HDR" for $2000 in the US and $3500 in Europe?

only a fool would buy it

>has 8bit+frc but is advertised as "HDR"
What's wrong with that?

HDR just requires a 10bit capable display, that includes 8bit + FRC as an accepted panel.

true 10 bit is nice, but is in no way a requirement of HDR.

HDR is true 10 bit, not 8bit + frc, and you are a fucking cancer who is enabling manufacturers to use misleading terms

and google the monitor instead of asking me to spoonfeed, it turns off HDR when it's using 120hz or more
