best way I learned was to think about all the day to day file operations I do and how I can replicate them in the terminal
from there I just googled how to x in terminal

Whenever I have some repetitive task I realize I can do it faster in python than bash.

Whenever you need to do something with a GUI tool, look up if you can do it on the command line (you probably can) and how. Learn about the core utils (cat, grep, cut, less). Learn about pipes, redirecting stdin/out.
Start automating some of the stuff you do and making scripts out of them.
