Monthly bill would be $9 higher with solar

>monthly bill would be $9 higher with solar

How the fuck is that even possible? Is solar a scam?

low power bill, bad solar system, high energy needs, expensive panels

>lease

Because solar panels cost money???

>is solar a scam

Well, yes

You basically net nothing with solar anyways. At best you can expect to meet ROI nearly exactly before it's degraded into deprecation.

>buy something outright
>it now also costs money over time

what

>leasing solar panels
Holy fuck that's some jewery if i have ever seen.

Try repositioning the solar roof a little bit better.

>home based solar
???
It barely breaks even ignoring the toxic sludge at large solar plants in the desert with adjustable panels while being bankrolled by the government. Its even more ineffecient at the local level

Because China was selling (dumping) Solar panels below manufacturing cost which killed the Solar Industry in America.

Trump put a stop to that thankfully and now we're paying realistic prices for solar. And of course faggot liberals are like but muh envinonmints like China is dumping billions of gallons of toxic byproducts into the ocean to manufacture them.

fucking retard, transmission losses.

Because that's an estimate for a lease, OP. Leasing solar is absolutely fucking retarded. You're supposed to buy solar.

This site is 18+

If you install your own equipment and know what your doing it backs out in like 5 years granted you live in a sunny area.

Apparently theres dumb fucks leasing panels for 20 years which is coincidentally the lifespan of any panel at most.

>America doesn't produce solar panels in any reasonable quantity
>put a tariff on imported solar panels
>now solar is more expensive and it still isn't manufactured here

Great logic.

>this much propaganda/baby boomer bullshit
But let's just go with it. What should one do to reduce their energy bill and their dependence on their utility company?

no, it's Jow Forums/g

That's where you're wrong. That is leased not bought outright.

>lease
there's your problem
build is yourself you pathetic prick

That's because wind is way more effective. Free market found the best solution and it isn't China dumping.

>don't live near the coast
>wind stops blowing
>oops no more power

>live in the southwest
>sun isn't shining for like 3 days a year, maybe
>oh look I'm generating power almost every single day and carrying enough battery capacity to last through the (extremely rare) cloudy days is very reasonably priced

Good argument, FUD faggot

Yes and no

You can sell energy back, but many places make damn sure you get the shittest rate possible for this, and this is where its a 'scam'

where I live they dicked everyone over who was generating power and selling it back, and then fineing you the moment you sent to much back so a wind farm we have near us is off most of the time.

If you can sell back at at least base rate, if not higher as people are stupid enough to pay more for green energy, its not a scam and can likely pay for itself.
