the real question is is why hasnt anyone made an OS where instead of X11 or wayland, its just one HTML/CSS/JS rendering engine that also handles any web browsing you do. suddenly all the 'wasted ram' is just your window manager that runs all websites natively :)

Screens are run on webview using HTML + CSS. The ART (not JVM) is only used for backend stuff, similar to backend web development.

I'm pretty sure that FirefoxOS was just Ubuntu Mobile with Firefox as the DE. I think it still used X11.
