Why should I use this instead of Claws Mail?

Why?

Does it still look like a 2005 app?

>app
no, it doesn't look like an app. it looks like a program.

>sylpheed
mmm all passwords in plaintext mmm

>UPDATE NOW
I can't. I'm running Debian Stable.

I won't be using it then. Is there anything as good as Apple mail on Windows? I'm beginning to believe all mail apps are shit on Windows.

What good mail clients are there, anyway? I guess most people use webmail for their personal mail, so the development is kinda stalling for mail clients.

I looked at this at my last job so its about 1,5 -2 years ago but your about right...
One that is kinda cool is Postbox, it looks like apple mail but it acually works in an office enviroment.
Other than that i would say that the old clients are the best...
Outlook
Thunderbird
Evolution

There are alot of clients out there but most of them are just for startups and stay at home moms.
Prime example here is Airmail and those similar to it! stay away from those.

thing can only get worse anons.
>gotta increase webspeed, let us use the new bloatware engine, cause people want super fast webpage load time on a mail client, and not stability and low. resources ,dont forget multi-core client is a must, and unused ram is wasted ram.

Thunderbird
-"Will it fork?"

>fork
>let me compile the same program everyone uses, disable some compilation flags, add a new logo, and ask for donation on patreon

I've read kmail is decent. Not minimalistic, but I'm not concerned with that.

I remember when Eudora was the hottest thing in email, but strangely enough I can't remember what I used before it.

no thx, it's the same obscure unusable thing as claws mail

>snap package

YES YOU CAN
pastebin.com/raw/ZS17Cvk7

>Although Eudora became unsupported as of 2006, some of us are in denial and still use it as our primary email client. I have over 350,000 archived messages in the Windows Eudora format going back to 1997, along with 28,000 embedded images and 33,000 saved attachments. I run it with only minor problems under Windows 10.
>I know of no other email client that can manage repositories that large and search them so quickly. I spend hours each day using Eudora to read and send email. I can do a complex search for anything in the 20 years of archived email in under a minute. It will be a sad day when I have to give it up.
That was posted by the author of the article in May this year when the Computer History Museum released the Eudora source code.
>The Windows version of Eudora is written in C++. The source tree consists of 8,651 files in 565 folders, taking up 458 MB. There are both production (“Eudora71”) and test (“Sandbox”) versions of the code.
>The Macintosh version of Eudora is an entirely different code base and is written in C. The source tree consists of 1,433 files in 47 folders, taking up 69.9 MB.

brainlet

if it's like FF it will create a ~/.local/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop when you make it default email client
you may have to edit it to remove the NoDisplay line there

>Eudora
Those were the days. I remember using The Bat! for a long time as well.

>Thunderbird version 60 is currently only offered as direct download from thunderbird.net and not as upgrade from Thunderbird version 52 or earlier. If you have installed Lightning, Mozilla's Calendar add-on, it will automatically be updated to match the new version of Thunderbird. Refer to this troubleshooting article in case of problems.

>Manually
Why?
you also didn't see that there are no partial updates for this one

>why did Mozilla make another bad decision
We just don't know, but we can expect it.

See
So the answer is yes.

why use this over evolution?

evolution supports webmail shit like exchange and gmail. i don't get it.

I hope the password manager is finally fixed.

Everyone with a real job uses Outlook for work mail. It's okay.
