You don't NEED more than one. It can be nice to have secondary monitors if you have things that you need to keep track of (cameras, stocks, feeds, chat, etc) Also having a vertical monitor is nice for reading emails, webpages, etc.

It's all strictly a luxury though.

On my triple monitor setup, when I'm programming something, I usually have one monitor for vim, one for a web browser, and the last one for other things such as a file manager, a terminal, or gimp (if I'm making a sprite).

I don't. feels good though. didn't cost anything too. you can find monitors discarded all the time.

humans can only look at one window at a time unless your left and right brain are not connected.. 16:9 aspect ratio is plenty enough for at least two windows sidebyside for reading. people who have multiple monitors literally do not understand the concept of windows.

Train engineering has gotten pretty advance the last 20 years in Europe ( I know americunt trains haven't moved a foot in that time period)

Here's what i'm training on, at the national technical university. It's a damn fucking simple training line i trained in in the basic course, and i remember people, litterally, crying about homework with only one monitor at home, as they had to suffle between 3 screens every 10-15 seconds.

Because you need more than one screen to monitor all the environmental, physical and mechanical variables to make sure that a NASA mission is successful. Not so much when you use it to watch Chinese cartoons on one screen, porn/vidya on the other and program on the last.

Anyway, i used to think that these from Denmark was a bit weird, until i learned that even in their late 1970's design, they could couple and decouple in under 20 seconds. Which is fantastic, because every rail station in Denmark needs to connect to only one major station, the Capitol Central Station in the very east. So it's running with 5-6 sets, and decouples along the way when the routes splits.

Apparently our railways thought so too, so in their infinite wisdom they decided to kill two birds with one stone and both waste taxpayer money and fuck up the functionality by removing the main feature the train was used for. In case you don't know, pic related used to be like the one in your pic. But no, the rubber looked ugly, and so they changed the fronts. And they bought EVEN MORE DMUs for when higher capacities are needed. Fucking lovely.

They REMOVED it? Holy shit. It's brilliant. Ugly, but efficient and a much beloved feature. It actually saves money, when the longer trains can be operated by half the conductors. And it actually doesn't look better with such generic a front as they refitted.

Pic is the shorter 2-wagon unit, with a low entry wagon. It's only operated by private and regional rail companies. But it can be coupled just as well, can't remember where it might be that.

But the state rails has no choice than to try and hot-glue the damn Italians trains together, there's a large lack of seats in the fleet. You might know about AnsaldoBreda, being a train-guy. To my understanding, they managed to fail on order or another to almost every state in the union...

But the state rails needed more trains in ~2000, when IC3 was scheduled to retire to regional status(It hasn't yet) and the liberal government decided that a good way to calm all the angry people, was to promised that a DMU would be purchased, capable of 200km/h. Nobody manufacturers such a inbreed piece. So it hat to be specially designed, by lowest private bidder of course, free market and Italian engineering!

I enjoy being able to make money playing poker on one monitor and having a youtube video or shitposting on Jow Forums on the other at the same time without having to alt-tab constantly. Could I get by with only one? yes. But the cost of a $220 monitor outweighs the loss in quality of life by not having one to me

I enjoy it. I still have a regular job so I'm not a true "pro" (like you said, most pros are borderline broke or on the bring of financial ruin almost constantly). But being able to bring in an extra $1000-$2000~ a week doing something I find fun is nice. Also living in a country where gambling earnings aren't taxable is a bonus, I probably wouldn't be playing if I lived in the states and had to risk tax evasion every time I cash out some money, or live in one of the few states that allow online gambling.

But ya, I know the statistics and the % of people who break even at poker is like 5% or less, the % of people who are able to make a living off it and support themselves on it is probably less than 0.1%. My first recommendation to someone who has some skills and the critical thinking, problem solving and mental math required to make any money at all at poker would be to invest that money somewhere else and try to get their own non-poker related business started. Because ya, the chance of becoming a 6 figure per year poker player is akin to winning the lottery
