Antegros or Manjaro and why?
I just started a new job and im learning thier backend and business.
So they have a frontend application for sales and a database. But wait, theres a configurator level between the two. Theres an excel file that handles all the calculations for the sales.
This is retarded right? I can not think of one simple reason why they do this. I talked to my boss for a couple hours about it and he said it comes down to accessibility.

But they've offered to replace it. I just hope they don't bait and switch me and give me a refund (amazon seller), or take forever to ship it (it did take 2 weeks to arrive). What do y'all think? I also bought a 1 dollar insurance plan that covers it for 4 years, do you think it would be better to contact them and get them to repair it? Interestingly enough the insurance guy said I could do like a 3 way call between them amazon and me and bypass the reseller..seems like a lot of options here

There is no reason, modern Firefox sucks, if you want to switch, switch to Waterfox or Palememe.
If it's mounted read only, remount it rw. If that fails, check dmesg to see why. Maybe it needs fsck, maybe it's damaged.

Yes. A NAS has the same issue. Ransomware can and will encrypt external disks and network drives it can see and has access to.
You should have an offline backup in addition to a hot backup. if neither of these offer redundancy you should have 2 offline that are in different locations.

Well you can kinda fake that if you put stuff on a NAS and use a filesystem that supports snapshots. You'll need to have some system of taking snapshots regularly and removing old ones, then you rollback in the event of ransomware. Or just mount one of them to grab something out of it if you deleted the wrong file or something.

There is software that can sit idle and will fuck anything you plug in to it via usb rendering your system dead as well as your external.
You should have:
A system backup, weekly is ok
A user data backup, anything that you cant easily replace.Daily
an offline system backup, again weekly is fine.

If neither of these have redundancy(raid5/6) you should have a duplicate of it.

Another way is a cloud based backup service. This will also count as an offsite backup and can protect your data even if all your equipment is wiped out from lightning strike, or your house burns down.

No. DVI-D and HDMI are pretty much the same port internally, with just a different connector. They can interchange losslessly.

You don't have to, but it definitely provides a deeper look at the subject than python can give you.
Encryption is on the fly, so it happens as you use it. You don't decrypt the whole thing to use it. It reads blocks and decrypts them as you read them. If you write, it encrypts on the fly.

i want to buy a "gaming laptop". I know that no serious gamers play on a laptop. But I just want to play games I have like WoW, Minecraft, Elder Scrolls on it that can run decently fast and look good. Right now I'm looking at a laptop with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, which seems decent enough. But the processor speed is 2.3 GHz and its i5 instead of i7. Are those too low, to get decent performance, or should it be pretty sufficient for most mid-tied games? Is there a way I can glob the chunks of continuously-numbered files as a group, so I can iterate over them in a for loop (such as to TAR each chunk of files in their own tarball)?
