I hate malware bytes for this. I get the prompt and before I can even close programs properly it instantly restarts. And it's always false positive threat scans that set it off. Pisses me off.
>Wangblows
Fucking kek
>thinking that this is an exclusive problem for windows when literally almost every Linux distribution also has this issue
Ubuntu doesn't need it. Everything can be updated live.
Difference is that most Linux distros don't nag you about it or force it on you.
>4 months away from 2019
>Malwarebytes
Do you have spybot installed too?
What?
>install Gentoo
>install kernel and shit maybe 2-3 times a month and only if something has a security issue
>while the system is updating, get Jow Forums or get /lit/
>all while Gentoo does not nag me to update or force me to restart
This is the truly free computing experience in 2018
What? Is restarts needed in even Linux machines these days?
only if you want to load a new kernel or new kernel modules
Linux distributions don't have this problem you only really need to reboot after a kernel update but even then they don't get on your case about it so you reboot whenever you damn please
Oh... So nothing new then. (haven't used Linux in months)
That’s a blatant lie, Ubuntu occasionally requires update restarts.
>thinkpad
>firefox compiling in 30 minutes
Lies. Normal programs can be updated just fine, but graphics drivers and kernel updates require a reboot before they'll go into effect.
>What is kexec
>t. ubuntufag
Educate yourself before parroting memes
t. non-American
Except the kernel and certain other components.
Now that is a fuckin 10/10 would watch again
>install linux
>most things works
>wireless device still not working properly
>1000+ updates found
>hours later
>updates finished
>restart
>everything is broken
>now on console at startup
I ever restart for kernel updates.
a bad idea
Noob question: are you on a rolling release distro?
Just the kernel.
You can modprobe anything else.
EXCEPT if you enable kernel hotswap. Then you really can run forever.
initramfs?
that likely didn't have anything to do with any updates you've installed
make sure secure boot is disabled if your bios has it and also ensure that you've partitioned your disk correctly
>You have mail.
No. Live-patch.
>hotswap
Not really possible afaik
What did user mean by this?
I'M A RACIST, YOU MADE ME A RACIST
Not a problem on Linux.
kexec can load a new kernel without a restart.
Checkmate winfags and macbabbies.
just click restart later.. its not windows it will not go against your will or show popup every 15 mins.
Then the update won't take place
the absolute state of windblows niggers
>restart needed
>keep working
>finish work
>reboot and go take a piss
