You can't really predict design trends, single color interfaces might become all the rage at some point in future, so I can buy that.
HOWEVER, every time I see a transparent screen my blood starts boiling! You have to be an absolute brainlet to think this is a good idea. Not only that it's extremely impractical, but it's completely illogical from social perspective. Why would I want everyone to know what I'm working on.

It isn't that screens are transparent but that everything is integrated in the glass which is a remarkable technological achievement.
As for coloring, blue looks brighter (your TV tends to blue for this reason since it will make more sells) and given transparency it makes sense having everything blue-tinted.

As for screens/electronic paper, the most common idea is that they should be normal, non-transparent, from one side and transparent from another. I think that would work in some dystopian totalitarian future where you and people around you has to be always keep each other in check over not reading or doing something thought police would frown upon. No Jow Forums for you. In such setting all those one-sided transparent screens make sense.
