Why are you not cooling your M.2 SSD?

EXPLAIN RIGHT NOW

but I am

dang

i have yet to notice any performance decrease due to heat on my nvme ssd. even if it throttles, it's still fast enough.

why not watercool it

My motherboard came with a big heat sink for my main M.2 drive, so I am cooling it.

Watch steve's video where he explains that cooling anything other than the controller alone is a bad thing and you're literally reducing the life of the memory itself because it likes to be hot when does large amounts of read and write requests.

which motherboard?

That's why I'm heating all my SSDs. A few little coils can do wonders.

can that thing cool my balls?

Because I have a proper PCIe SSD with a good sized heat sink.

You wish poorfag

You need over 2 minutes full usage 3.5GB/s to start thermal throttles

This. Cool your controllers, heat your NANDs

It was only like 400 euro's IIRC.
People spend way more than that on iToys.

Employee: "Oops, my angle grinder slipped"
Engineer: "It's ok, we will make that a product"
Employee: "This can't cool shit though"
Engineer: "Let's just slap it on a mobo, that will work well enough"

>not using your SSDs to their limit

You wish poorfag

Because macbook

Really?
You think that's a lot of money?
Some people actually have jobs you know?

Basically because you shouldn't. Only the memory controller likes to be cold. The memory itself likes to operate hot. All SSDs have operating temperature ranges for their controller and memory chips, but as a general rule, what i said first applies. You'd probably degrade your ssd very fast by adding a heatsink to the entire thing as opposed to only cooling the controller so it doesn't throttle.

That's your monthly income poorfag

LOL @ your life

This.
Cool the controller leave the NAND alone.

that's a lot of drives

>throttling is fine

ASRock x470 Master SLI/AC

I don't need to rice up my SSDs when the airflow inside my case keep s everything running normally.

Nice VM there poorfag

I do, im using those cooper Rasperry pi cooper heatsinks.
And my side panel fan too cool it.
Under stress it never goes over 66-68°C so it doesn't bottleneck anymore.

WD Black NVMe SSD.
