What's the problem?

Buy Topping D50

But my source is virtually transparent

Chord mojo or the ifi micro

I was gonna get the ifi micro but it's so god damn expensive. I'm still going to get it later. Got d50 on the way for desktop use atm.

I haven't lurked in a while. Last I was here the 770 was pretty well regarded, and now they're new shill target as Grados, SHP9500, HD600, and Stax were in the past.
What's the new go to recommendation for closed under $200? Pro 82?

I'm pretty sure its mainly one guy shilling the 770s and lots of people here have hd600 they're good phones. Grados gets no love and SHP9500 are just okay.

I just got my first headphones and now i'm trawling through looking for new headphones to buy, is this how it starts?
How do you do this safely?
How do you justify if to yourself personally?

Attached: 1530458682453.jpg (500x500, 25K)

I actually like the 770s but I listen to a lot of bass heavy music

>didn't like my last pair of open backs
>want to try HDShillhundred
I never see them in a store to try out and I don't want to order something I don't like

>How do you justify it to yourself personally
I am lonely and it is relaxing to listen to music with my eyes closed paying attention to detail to make my brain quit squirming

Get them you won't be disappointed user

Attached: hd600.jpg (1000x599, 404K)

Amps are snake oil

>t. never used one

I had SHP9500 and it was awful. No bass and my wife could hear everything I listened to.

They're not awful but the hd600 is a step above. Also who cares about your wife

going off to college, need new gaming/music headphones WITH A MIC, to replace my bulky sennheiser 598s. would prefer something light and foldable

>Budget
$150ish, can maybe go $200

No difference between macbook air out and a $500 yamaha amp out on hd600s. its a speaker amp

What headphones did you get?
massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-sennheiser-pc37x-gaming-headset

Hey she's a sweetheart, cut her some slack.

anyway hopefully I can try some out at a hifi store or something

Status CB-1 + a boom pro.
Although I'd just get a lapel/desk mic and keep using your 598. Why does the size matter if you're using them at home?

>when you sell your 2 year old headphones for more than you paid for them
Thanks Phillips for discontinuing that product.

what was the profit senpai?

>buys opened back headphones
>is surprised when sound leaks

HD600 will be the same experience. Enjoy.

Buy Fidelios to flip if you can. Good chance they'll be discontinued as well.

1MORE spearhead

HD6xx or K7xx for general music and games? I'm leaning towards HD6xx but I don't know about the soundstage meme for games.

$15.47

Not bad considering I had them for 2 years.

NFB-11.28

I’m kind of in the same boat and I’m considering blowing $500-$1000+ on headphones just to see if there is any merit to the soundstage meme at all.

From a lot of reading I’ve done, games should already being creating localized sounds for imaging so the headphones’ soundstage is irrelevant and possibly detrimental. For music though, I’m trying to figure out how to make headphones not sound like everything is coming out of the middle of my head. I’m not sure if the answer is learn2EQ or buy expensive shit.

you guys always say it doesn't leak that much lel

>For music though, I’m trying to figure out how to make headphones not sound like everything is coming out of the middle of my head. I’m not sure if the answer is learn2EQ or buy expensive shit.
Speakers is answer here user, easier to produce natural imagining and soundstage.
That said, even the "soundstage limited" hd600 doesn't give me the effect you're referring to. It might be the music you're listening to or your expectations.

Yeah that’s kind of what prompted this. I got a pair of $250 bookshelf speakers and they’re so much better than my headphones that it’s annoying to me. But I can’t blast them at 2 AM without rousing the neighbors so I want to see if I can get headphones that do as good a job.

>Has loud ac
>Buys open headphones
What did you expect? I had this same problem so I either suffered with the heat or put on closed headphones when I was running the ac.

So what's everyone's portable setup like?

Attached: 1532117596153.gif (550x400, 287K)

V-Moda M80 + Sansa clip with Rockbox.

I use my EQ'd HD650 for everything, including games, and find it more than acceptable.

would you pay 85 bucks for used SHP 9500s?

seems like a bad idea to pay what used to be retail

well duh that's the point

SHP9500S are great what are you talking about

phillips defense force inbound

>85 bucks for used SHP 9500s
No way, dude.

I'm just saying they sound damn good.

well somebody just paid that lmao

I started the auction at 30 and set 85 as the buy it now as a joke and within 24 hours they sold.

I think user was talking about his experience, not the sound

$200 for HD600 a good deal?

yeah

bboought

>realize headphones sound different depending on how it's fitted on your head
What is the ideal position for open headphones? Back of the ears touching the pads? HD 599 for reference.

probably should have been more specific. I don't want a gaming headset with a giant boom mic sticking out, I was thinking regular headphones with a small inline mic. plus that looks just as bulky as my 598s. wondering if i should just get ATH-m50x with brainwavs pads and a mic cable

I want to spend a lot more than $60. those don't look very good at all.
I'm not using them at home, I'm trying to streamline as much as possible because I'm moving into a college dorm.

>"VR gaming" headset
>7.1 surround
>fucking LEDs on the sides
definitely not what im looking for

How much can you sell HD600 for?

All around the ears with no gaps.

>Budget: less is better, don't have a top in mind.
>Location:Colombia

>Sound signature: prefer some neutral but I don't mind any

OK, my city recently began to do some improvements on the streets and routed trucks to where I live, seems to be something I'll have to deal for at least 2 years. I want to get some Noise canceling headphones, since I want to test that technology, but I can do with some with nice isolation. I don't want to pay too much since it's for situation that might change, I'm happy with my current setup.Wireless would be nice, but not mandatory, I'm mostly looking for the noise canceling part. I just want them to hear music and consume media without being annoyed with noises.

Best on ear ones with detachable cable for under 200 bucks?

Does it have to be on ear or is over ear acceptable?

I'll take both

Guess they must have REALLY wanted one, then. They used to be $50 new. Prices shot up for some dumb reason. It's not that good of a headphone anyway.

They're out of production I think

Grado SR60e

>I want to spend a lot more than $60. those don't look very good at all.
>Judging by looks
They're well regarded by many an user and I've spent many hours with them affixed to my skull for the past 2 years. Take everything thing you see here with a grain of salt, but Status provides a 1 year warranty for those worried about the build.
You should look into the Pro 82 as well. Those won't take a Boom Pro due to the 2.5 connector, hence my Status rec.
If you're looking to spend, get a pair to use at home and something to use on the go. That way you don't have to compromise on comfort or sound. Each situation is very different and there are different considerations that go into them. I have sets to use at home and sets I use on the go, as I imagine most of the autistic bastards here do.

>I was thinking regular headphones with a small inline mic. plus that looks just as bulky as my 598s. wondering if i should just get ATH-m50x with brainwavs pads and a mic cable
Not the way to go. Just get a stand or lapel mic and a good set of headphones.

lapel and booms are cringey as fuck. they're fine if you're a basement dwelling neet retard who never leaves their chair, but otherwise *cringe*

And a gamer headset is better?

0/10

samson meteor is best

It got memed up way too hard, now people believe that it’s actually a good headphone, not just surprisingly OK for its price bracket.

I used these for awhile and they were pretty goddamn good.

Pretty much this. I'm convinced the Hd800 is the only good headphone they make. Even those are horrendously overpriced.

what headphone will fill the empty hole in my heart

>M6 Pro

Ew

Me too

STAX

That happen all the time, it's the same reason the M50 got so much praise for so long.

Is onboard audio still shit, or is it good enough nowadays? Realtek ALC887, specifically in my case.
90% of the time I'm listening to shit like Sony MDR-v6 and Sennheiser HD280, the other 10% of the time it's going through optical to my receiver. Do I have anything to gain with a discrete sound card?

If I should get an audio card, any recommendations?

Grado GS2000 with classical music.

Is the Woo Audio WA6 the best amp i can get for the HD 600 for the money? I live in south america, so finding one one of these here is like winning a lottery. But my friend goes to USA sometimes and i can ask him to buy one of these for me. Does it have other options to consider at the 500 us?

>people seriously recommending that AKG K712/K7XX
Great, guess you can leave too for being stupid.

>deaf boomer cunt died of old age
Who?

these headphones are fucking atrocious bright shit designed for deaf oldfags with severe hearing loss, just like everything else AKG makes.

Not only that but they're obnoxiously colored, they're like the inverse of the HD600 with an exaggerated soundstage, poor imaging, boomy bass, shrill treble and zero midrange, and as you might expect from a headphone which is the opposite of the HD600, they are completely unsuitable to be all rounder headphones.

I liked them when they were still my first pair of audiophile headphones, I absolutely depise them now that I've tried out a few other options in their price range.

I wouldn't recommend these headphones to my worst enemy, and for anyone who currently owns a pair, I urge you to go to a local hifimeetup/hifi audio store and audition basically anything else, these headphones are despicable.
