The t430s has a 1600x900 screen

Yes and no. If your t430 came with a 1366x768 screen, it can take the 1600x900 screen, except it is lacking the correct cable. Check the wiki for more info. You need to make some more modifications than just swapping the screens.

I have a question in reference to the x230t. I already have I x201 with ultrabase but I'm looking to have one more thinkpad that I can take to work and use for business purposes and note-taking at meetings. Looking at the x230t for multiple reasons (ips, lots of genuine batteries on the market, ivy bridge lower pwr consumption).

Worth spending the extra money for one? I see they generally run 200-300 dollars. Heard the x220t has problems, x200t barely has any batteries on market (and they're old), x61t is just too old.

I have a T420 with 8GB (2 x 4GB) of ram and I want to upgrade it to 16GB (2 x 8GB) but I'm confused about how choosing laptop ram works. Also, 16GB isn't officially supported by Lenovo so there isn't a list of compatible ram anywhere.
What is the cheapest 16GB I can throw into it that will work?

Hi ma bois I just bought a T400 I libreboot it and its working well BUT this trackpad is ugly and I use only the GLORIOUS TrackPoint. Is the x200 palmrest compatible with the t400? So I can get a nice and clean palmrest

The T420 also doesn't officially support Quad core processors (like OP says). It seems that while they will work the system will run hotter and may overheat easier.
I normally wouldn't consider going over spec but it going to 16GB of ram seems to be a common thing. My problem is that all the threads I'm finding are older and I don't understand laptop RAM compatibility well enough to even know what to look out for. Looking around the net there seem to be a handful of threads along these lines
