How do you keep your data private in 2018, Jow Forums?

it's harder and harder to keep your data private these days. how do you do it, Jow Forums? do you use any online service? do you use VPNs? Tor maybe?

I need to get rid of g-apps and and everything they control but don't know what to use...

I don't care, I have nothing to hide

Don't put your data online, and don't use programs that put the data online without your consent.

no

Don't store your data in the (((cloud))). Set up your own storage server at home. Never use your real name online.

i'm not a pedro

This mainly. I literally have nothing to protect.
The most embarrassing thing you'll find on my hard drive is Yotsuba/Azumanga pictures.

I don't put my data on the internet. It's obviously a service provider's right to analyze any meta-data they can harvest.

This.

Privacytools.io is a good start.

only if you're a school shooter you should worry about your privacy

Use Chinese social networks

How do I even fix all this shit.I've been using all kinds of botnets like gmail even with real name since this date and I learned a few months how bad they actually are.I don't know what to do with all these accounts(I don't care about gmail adress accounts and rather about forum accounts ect) I still wanna use.

what the fuck are those Q-user things?

Don't use social media outside of diaspora and riot.im
Don't use iOS or stock android. Preferably buy Librem 5.
Don't communicate over proprietary services, including SIM cards (remove SIMs from your life). Use Wire/Riot.im instead. Or a similar open source chat service (RetroShare, Tox, Ricochet, Ring).
Don't enter your information online unless you absolutely have to (probably nothing other than bank payments). Keep everything in separate browser profiles as Firefox and Brave allow.
Use Tor when possible and when you won't do anything personal. Brave has Tor support now but it's vulnerable to tracking because it's based on chromium.
Use uBlock Origin and uMatrix. Blacklist everything on uMatrix globally (press the * then block 1st party css and js), then manually enable 1st party css and js for sites you trust.
Use IceCat or Firefox (see privacytools.io)
Use GNU as your main OS.

Install LineageOS on your device. If it's unsupported, buy a device that is. Alternative to Play Store is fdroid where you'll find only open source software. You can, if you want, use Yalp store to install apps from google but it's better to avoid this. Play store is a host to a ton of malicious or utter garbage apps.

>I don't care, I have nothing to hide
share your google username/password.

The worst thing that could happen with my online data is that someone would help me. There's not enough online for identity theft, and I mean if you've ever worked that info is stored somewhere out of your control anyway. If you're a legal citizen in a first world country it's stored somewhere, too. It's unneeded anxiety thinking about it, just be conscious of it.

you can't, don't try. give up.

you can't. give up.

Frankly, I don't have anything to hide.
However, the main reason I stay away from the botnet is because of how resource intensive it is. A fresh install of Windows 10 is something like 40gb, and on idle it uses 50% ram and cpu. On the contrary, void linux uses 2% ram and cpu on idle.

Simply knowing that makes me feel so uncomfortable with Windows, the fact that my own computer is acting out on its own, doing things I don't know about behind my back.

Also, removing everything google from my phone increased its performance and battery life. Currently I'm getting more than 3 days of battery life on my galaxy s5, and it runs like a brand new phone.

this can't be true! it's using that much??? insane! are there any data points on what the hell is MS doing exactly? I know they run PhotoDNA etc. in the background.

Don't use the cloud. Be very suspicious of proprietary security software, including both encryption and prophylactics. Be very suspicious of anything made by any company involved in PRISM. Encrypt all backups. When signing up for services, only give your provider the bare minimum amount of access necessary for your devices to actually function.

You are either
1. Using WiNd0Ws 10 - Black Edition cracked SadeemPC repack portal no.malware.exe.bat.scr.ps1
2. You have a crappy pc where 50% of your cpu is equal to 3% of a modern machine.

You simply limit how much of your personal info you put onto the Internet. There is always going to be someone somewhere who wants to make money off of your browsing habits and attempt to cater advertisements to you.

I'm fully invested in the botnet. Youtube account, 2 Gmail account. Use Google Maps. Hell my car has its own IP address and always on GPS module. But all my personal info it tied up in a truecrypt made encrypted container.

MS is probably either collecting data or using my system resources for their own computing power. Something similar to using someone else's computer to mine crypto. Basically botnet.

Nope, it's windows 10 from MS's website, with kmspico or something like that I think

Use Foss alternatives and use a VPN whenever your online.

This nigga gets it.

It's not about avoiding muh botnet but about handling the data you consider valuable.

> fresh install of Windows 10 is something like 40gb, and on idle it uses 50% ram and cpu.
I dislike MS crap as much as anyone else but this is pure crap on all levels.

seriously, if you are a member of society how are you already not part of the botnet? work, insurance,ss,bills, whatever services you use,etc..

I mainly use VPNs (especially on my phone where it's always on) and never search google directly except as a last resort. I still use gmail but on a separate account that is solely for gmail. Switched to Linux as my primary OS earlier in the year.

I use uMatrix and selectively allow scripts to load, as well as a pi-hole to block things like google analytics and other tracking and advertising services at the network level. I also have uBlock and a fingerprint changer. I use Firefox as my primary browser and ungoogled chromium as a secondary (switched after the proprietary chrome updater downloaded a "malicious software removal" tool with no action from me).

Unfortunately all the low IQ "I have nothing to hide" fags in this thread (as well as all the other normies) will probably provide enough information to make it easier to profile me anyway, so I also have various online personas for different accounts. It's difficult for an outsider to tell which one is really "me" (hint: it's none of them)

Finally I just don't use social media at all. I deleted my Facebook earlier this year and I don't have an active Twitter account or Instagram or any of the others. I put as little data online as possible. I don't really have anything to hide either, but I definitely don't want governments or corporations to know anything about me that I don't willingly give - it's an infringement of my right to privacy.

>this is pure crap on all levels.
The install size is probably not that inaccurate. My fresh updated install is over 20 GB and I'm on 1607 from 2016. I imagine the multiple feature updates I'm missing would bring it even higher.

Windows 10 does a lot of unoptimized shit in the background. The biggest culprits are usually the search indexer, superfetch, and the "automatic maintenance" tasks that run when it thinks you're idle. 50% cpu sounds ridiculous on a clean install, but it was not uncommon (and maybe still isn't) for windows 10 to use 100% of your disk all the time if you were on a HDD when it first came out. We actually had to upgrade to SSD's at work because of this (thanks M$ I guess?)

This, ***the cloud*** is a trap, don't put anything there.

Also this.

Not using the Internets

Don’t store your data anywhere that connects to the power grid, the internet, the phone system or in hard copy. I am unaware of anything problematic about connecting to municipal water supply, provided usage is small quantity.

user you're bullshitting

Attached: 1085.png (464x511, 13K)

It uses 50% because it's a fresh fucking install, in a day it will be at idle like anything else

move everything from Google to yandex, I trust the Russians with my data way more than I'd trust any western company

yup you definitely have decade old hw with 2gb ram

>it's harder and harder to keep your data private these days. how do you do it, Jow Forums?
I will teach you a hacker technique to achieve this:
DON'T.PUT.YOUR.DATA.ONLINE.

Arguing the right to privacy by saying you have nothing to hide is like arguing against free speech because you have nothing to say

Q predicted this

I don't. I use Google Chrome and Drive and Gmail. I use Windows 10 and onedrive. I use android with all tracking features turned on.

I'm 28 and still not dead, jailed or had my identity stolen because of any of the data. I'm just gonna keep going until something bad happens.

hide in my bunker with my oprah/george bush photoshopped porn and surf the web through my puppet botnet in codewords

"I've nothing to hide" is always either a dystopian point of view where a person already has given up and admits defeat - or one assuming everything goes by a rulebook that is just and thus dangerously naive.
It's like a facebook poster posting to be "on vacation" and then wondering why the home was robbed when coming back.

Cloud storage: There's basically a ton of potentially valuable data dumped which is a shitty strategy in terms of security as any security measure is breachable and the best you can do is build a "takes this much effort" wall so high that hopefully no one will deal with that much shit.

>Binaries and libs only
You retard. Add some of the ___APPDATA___ and then you have full install.

by using cloveros

post your mom picture

Why wait until something bad happens? Who knows how long the repercussions could last.

100% privacy on the internet is not possible unless you cut of your cable or destroy your modem.
True anonimyty is false and stupid even. If someone tells you that with "these tools" you will be untrackable they need few screws in their brain replaced

Use your own VPS, of course, you will need to trust your provider or isp

here is your (You)

I don't post my data security methods in honeypot threads.

they're watching you user. don't go outside.

Not using social media is half the battle.
Getting all your communication encrypted is tedious, thanks to other parties not recognizing the importance.
Hiding metadata is damn near impossible.

sauce?

What's a good VPN to use?

By keeping all valuable data offline. I don't see how you can use a proprietary OS and expect to have privacy, and I don't want to use Linux right now.

Floppies and a safe with a magno-tron and 2 RPI's wired up inside.

If the electronic unlock HMAC Challenge and the home network ssl PGP sig isn't disarmed first before opening the safe it trigers the ultrasonic, barometric, and laser sensors and runs the driver circuit relay and pulses the magnotron's power relay at a low voltage very rapidly.

I'm planning on making a real product and seeing if I can get funding and sales in the possible future.

Good luck getting my email private keys Mr. Government.

If you are using hardware or an os developed in the last 15 years you literally can't.

I don't use cloud networks because they are fucking stupid. I don't use shitty virus removal programs and just do it myself.

apparently some guy that has insider information on the gubment and deepstate. He tripfags as Q on Jow Forums from time to time and predicts things and gives out ominous riddles.

Should I take all my files off the cloud or is it already too late.

Install LineageOS to remove gapps. It needs separate gapps if you want them, so just don't get them. There are lots of good apps on f-droid.
