Must have GNU/Linux packages

What are your must have packages you install whenever you set up a new distro?

Attached: 1531096328169.jpg (1024x768, 325K)

Xfce, xfce-theme manager, Plank, Waterfox, VLC, Ocenaudio, GIMP, Viewnior, Foxit Reader, WPS-suite, Transmission, Popcorn Time, Virtualbox, Synaptic, gdebi, g-parted, Y-ppa, AcetoneISO, truecrypt, Wine

vrms

Slackware has practically everything I need, and besides my WM and WM-related rice, I guess it's just Wine, firejail, libreoffice, kicad, gnucash, liferea and palemoon.
The rest of the shit I have I could do without.

your-freedom
your-privacy

Based and redpilled.

emacs

sudo

Lapack

I'm about to try Manjaro because it seems to have everything I need out of the box. Xfce and themed almost exactly how I usually theme it. Usually all I install after is telegram, discord, and steam. maybe a few extras

Yup

IRC client like irssi
RSS client like newsbeuter
GNU Screen for a multiplexer and daemonizer
Elvis for a text editor

manjaro is poop. if you've never used linux before go with ubuntu or a flavour of it (xubuntu). but i've had issues with 18.04 release of ubuntu so i got 16.04.4 xubuntu and it works great.

does manjaro have a systemd-less flavor?

Have any of you ever heard the album "Trout Mask Replica" by Captain Beefheart? Probably not. I am infinitely superior to you neckbeards in every single way and my superior taste in music attests to that. I'll bet you lack even the basic ear training necessary to appreciate this Cadillac of the arts.

You will all repose forever in your mother's basement, autistically yelling at your computer screens while the noise of some stupid primitive electronic drum music pounds ominously in the background, screeching for your mother to bring you more tendies. I, meanwhile, will be reclining in perfect ease on my plush leather sofa, sipping a dry martini and listenting to the soothing refrains of the noble Captain Beefheart, crooning away the sounds of the human soul as every woman you have ever loved from afar slobbers on my superior schlong in ways you can only imagine.

Enjoy your virginity, neckbeards.

cowsay

I ensure all my stdout is routed through cowsay

git
htop
tmux
nano (fuck vim, fight me)
fail2ban

99% of the time I'm setting up something headless.

Should also pipe through lolcat on special occasions.

git and create_ap are the only ones that I need to install

Newer versions use lolcat by default

windows10.iso

gvim, mc, htop, glances

Audacious, mpv, KolourPaint, KDE Connect, gufw, PlayOnLinux, wire-desktop

Fuck nano! Use pico

They used to, OpenRC, it ded.

How to check if some package is already installed?

xorg-server xorg-xinit xorg-xrandr feh scrot mupdf vim tmux i3-gaps i3lock wpa_supplicant gcc

git htop pulseaudio xorg-xset

Depends on the package manager.

Is dogshit that should be avoided if possible. If you can achieve what you need with ffmpeg, use it instead.

the only package you need

what distro had this easter egg again, or was the easter egg even real?
