Currently using my ThinkPad X220 as a backup computer to my Mac (need it for Adobe shit for my job). The ThinkPad has 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD is there any point flashing new BIOS?

AMAZING!! WOW!! youtube.com/watch?v=XhxT1Nc2f2g

recently got a T440p, and I noticed the Microsoft Certified Refurbishers replaces the windows key (on the keyboard) with a windows 10 key, if they can do this, is there somewhere I can order a Tux key?

nevermind that's the windows 8 key I forgot keyboards started adopting that logo

how do I check if my thinkpad has an m.2 slot?

are there any newer thinkpads/lenovo laptops worth mentioning? thinking about getting something powerful as a desktop replacement and then tinkering with older thinkpads
hmmmmmm.jpg

Attached: paintinggif.gif (400x225, 1.26M)

Check the wiki for it, or rip it open. Depending on how old it is, you may only have an mSATA.

T430 is #1

Attached: IMG_20170508_145056067.jpg (1920x2560, 1.66M)

What is this?

it's a lenovo thinkpad t440s

stock is an intel ssd

m.2 would be blazing fast ?

I've got an extra 960 pro m.2 NVMe SSD

As long as you don't have a built-in 4g modem, there is a spare three prong m2.2242 slot by the wireless card.
>960 pro m.2 NVMe SSD
Wrong form factor, needs to be 42mm long.

Trapcode /TPG/'s official girl mascot.

How much is considered TOO much for a in shape x230t?

>#1
>With that keyboard

Lenovo Thinkpads suck.

Some are ok

Nice legs.
Post more.

daily reminder to all the incels in here that genitalia doesnt define your gender ;)

What battery should I buy for my x230?
The extended battery it came with is limited to only 3 hours but I assume it's just old.

Any reccomendations?
>wishing I bought a x220 more every day

...and when it doesn't, good luck living with the constant drama.

new to thinkpads, im looking at getting one. mostly for word/excel, web surfing and the odd game (RS07, cities skyline).
What model do you recommend?

>Your battery is not eligible for replacement.
Fugg. How do I get them to send me a free battery for my X220?

Are parts getting harder to find for older thinkpads? The palmrest on my x230 has a crack and most of the replacements I could find on eBay all came from China and are like $30 or more.

I don't get this, did you even try searching on ebay?

I have am x230 tablet. Will the normal x230 docking station work for me? I can't find anything online.

That's a male.

This only makes my penis harder

Faggot.

Is 450 eurobucks for a w530 with a quad core i7 and 256sdd too much?

It depends , senpai, do you need a better wifi card ? Do you need higher frequency on your RAM ?

Good thinkpad under 500 euro to fill the void while I have no PC.
Go

oof not bad
is there one without the ssd? you can get those for damn cheap.

I suplimented my 60gb with an sd card for over a year until I ran out of room

Would this be a good deal? There's scratches on the screen, apparently.

>t. Starbucks fag

It arrived. It's dope, hopefully I will get like 4 hours of use.

What can I do with the old one though (40% health)?

Is the tablet a meme? I always wanted to add an X200t to my collection but is it worth it? I don't do drawings but I must admit this video gets me going.

Sell it on eBay.

Who's going to buy a used battery?

You can replace the cells of the old battery,
Hard to do it yourself, try asking around in small tech/repairs shops if they can do it.

>instructables.com/id/HOW-TO-REPAIR-LAPTOP-BATTERY-/

I think I bought mine 3 years ago? I said I would draw with it. Barely touched the touchscreen. It's not an inconvenience but I still wish I just had the normal one.
If you don't need the touchscreen then don't bother.

I found a T430 offer in the UK on eBay but the buyer makes you select an OS, which raises the price by about 100 pounds.
Is a good condition T430 actually worth 290 GBP?

All the ones I'm finding local people selling are a small bit cheaper but they're HDD and 4GB RAM whereas the ebay one is SSD and 8GB.
Can those sellers really be trusted and how good is eBay with covering your ass? Never bought from there before.

So what do I reasonably have to do to get one of these upgraded thinkpads? That website is all in chinese.

*hackintoshes her T420*
Pssh, nothin personel, kid.

kys

Are we safe from the tranny posters and Tripcode now?

That's cool. Maybe I will ask at those small local electronics stores with the sand people.

You guys think this is fine? I just need something light to type on to replace my x200. Don't care enough to hunt for a IPS model and i'm going to throw the hd away.

Attached: dix.png (1620x641, 496K)

Wait, Tripcode is going by a girl now?

Attached: what is this thing that is foreign to v62.png (443x549, 427K)

I've used a i5-2520m for serious work, and it's enough. You might want to upgrade ram down the line, but you should be good to go.

You can swap it with the t420 keyboard

I thought it was a tranny.

x230 4gb ram 320gb hard drive 176€
vs
x230 8gb ram 128gb ssd 226€
>both used with i5 3320m

what would Jow Forums do ?

pretty sure my T420 is showing its age and it's fucking infuriating
>runs fine most of the time
>suddenly can't even play a 720p youtube video without horrendous lag
>everything I do is a slideshow
>find out CPU clock is stuck at 790Mhz
>restart
>boosts up to 2800MHz again
>everythingwentbetterthanexpected.jpg
>fire up the video again
>runs like complete shit
>close everything
>load is back to 3%
>clock is at 790Mhz
>won't go up no matter what
>temps are fine the whole time

I feel like tossing this piece of shit out of the window

Attached: 1394526207812.gif (150x113, 2.45M)

>paying more than $150 for a laptop

Look at the price for ram and see if it's cheaper for you to get some more ram and put in a SSD.

>watching Jewtube in the first place

I had this same issue on my T430. It was thermal throttling due to heat. Replace thermal paste.

I did 6 months ago
also
>temps are fine the whole time

around as powerful as a current gen i3U
More than enough for most shit, you can replace many parts yourself and it comes with an awesome keyboard.

10/10

how did you manage to find your way onto this website?

Check power management settings and whether your power supply is good enough.

Dirty power from the wall or the brick maybe, can't be a bricked sensor.

Are thinkpads macbooks in china?

Attached: 0.jpg (1200x869, 412K)

wtf i love china now

is it a bad idea to get a thinkpad just to use Linux on it? i have a laptop now which i'd rather not get Linux on because i've had problems installing different distros on it alongside wandows.

You could just run it in a VM if you aren't comfortable with having a multiboot setup.

>tfw no thinkcat

Attached: 20180808_192547-min.jpg (4656x3492, 1.45M)

idk i'd really like to have a distro installed on a machine which i can use and play around with whenever. am i just being over dramatic?

X220 or X230?
Bot the same price, X220 has previous gen processor but nicer keyboard
Please advise

X230 and keyboard swap
The igpu aged much better

What is that keyboard

Been looking at thinkpads and found one locally that looks very good, except for this fucking part. Literally the rest of the body is in "mint" condition. Is this fixable for a reasonable price? It's a x230

Attached: 1510692591996.png (1185x208, 366K)

Which ibm thinkpad do you prefer?

if you're using a lightweight distro and not gnome or anything swanky go for whichever you can get cheaper
x230 if you want power
make sure you get an ssd

oh yeah and if you're using windows either will be fine but the x230 will be better at doing more (igpu)

my man i just taped off the entire area and sprayed it after I removed the rubber.

pretty sure you could just transplant one from a wreak though

Which thinkpad is this?

>fell for the t420 meme
>wanted to dualboot windogs 7 for software and linux
>install windows 7
>no internet
>install some internet drivers from lenovo website
>ethernet cable works but still no wifi
>install lenovo driver update meme
>it installed drivers i needed
>still no wifi connections found
help a retard friens thanks

thoughts on the t410?

You might be able to get a replacement lid cheap, maybe there are ones with no lcd panel inside, which would drive costs down. You could also plastidip it, but that won't look like the real deal.

w541

Install gentoo

Then do it, I did.

Are the running libremeow?

are these guides a scam or will i actually be able to reset bios password by following it, this is for x220: ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Laptop-BIOS-Password-Removal-Guide-T410-T420-T430-X220-X230-T420s-T430s/222980917570?hash=item33eab2c942:m:mIEvJWx0r18_F8fiTUszAAw&var=521786210140&_sacat=0&_nkw=x220 bios password removal&_from=R40&rt=nc&LH_TitleDesc=0

Where the fuck is the A485 Lenovo?!

Gonna get back my x220 tomorrow. Currently dual boot (Win7+Mint). Thinking about flushing it. What distro other than Gentoo can you recommend Jow Forums?

Hi, I own a ThinkPad T410 and I was wondering how much ram it can support, I currently have only 4GB and if possible I would like to put in another 4GB, thanks in advance

>new T480s has a buzzing fan
Lenovo quality control at its finest

What’s the most powerful Thinkpad under 250 USD? Weight and power efficiency be damned.

Just got a beautiful x230 with dock, ips display, and ssd for around $190 USD on ebay. He forgot to send the charger tho :[

Your ThinkPad™ T410 can support up to 16 GB of RAM. Thank you.

-Pashjeel

someone please tell me the most you should pay for a x230t thanks
