Why did Intel stop at Pentium? Why is there no Sexium?

Too risqué for the bible belt.

Pentium 4 ruined the brand, and the name didn't make sense anymore.

Except that it's used for low-end CPUs nowadays, and it has been that way for a long time.

Pentium 4 ruined the brand for high-end CPUs, so Intel relegated it for the low-end. AMD did the same to the Athlon brand, but they didn't have to.

They were considering making the Pentium Pro or Pentium II named Hexium, but some sly bastards decided to trademark Hexium, Septium, Octium, Nonium, etc beforehand and they took the easy way and just said "Pentium Pro", then "Pentium 2".

Interesting…

Dual core Pentiums with HT (new models) are fucking GOAT.

8088/8086 -> 80186 -> 80286 (286) -> 386 -> 486
then the judge said they can't block AMD and Cyrix from making clones because you can't trademark a number
so they went Pentium for 586
Pentium MMX made sense, but Pentium Pro (686) should have been Hexium, maybe Pentium II Hexium MMX, and Pentium III = Hexium SIMD
then Pentium 4 = Heptium, Core 2 = Octium, Nehalem = Nonium, Bridges = Decadum, Wells = ?, Lakes = Dodecanum

the pentium, celeron, core, and xeon names have been beaten to death. they don't mean anything anymore. neither does clock speed for that matter. you have to look at the architecture (generation)

tl;dr
we should be at dodecanum or something
at least them kids would be learning latin prefixes

Those sound dumber than Ryzen. They should do it like DEC and just throw random numbers around

>Dual Core
>2018
Quadcore is office tier now
hexacore is middle class

2 cores = hobo build
4 cores = poorfag build
6 cores = working class
8-12 cores = middle class
16 cores = richfag
32 cores = king of the world

My core2duo is still perfectly fine in 2018

8-12 is already upper class, more than that is only for rendering stuff
next year amd will bring 12-16c for mainstream and 48-64c become workstation tier

its true, the i5 was middle class, not the ryzen 5 and i5 are the new middle class

>found the pajeet

>amd build
poorfag

>intel build
patrician build

t. corelet kikelords

Nobody needs more than dual cores
