Recommend silent switch with proper tactile mechanism (such as ALPS tactile leaf and not shitty Cherry stem tumor) that wouldn't start "clicking" with time.
Liam Harris
any custom layout enthusiasts here? what's your special sauce?
>BS >Silent Are you sure? Plus, it's basically a membrane with a spring.
Tyler Powell
nice. do you get any use out of double ctrls on the left side?
Brody Gray
Not really, I just didn't know what to put where the lower one is. I'm using the one on the upper-left all the time and the lower one is mainly for shortcuts that use the Escape key.
Jace Bailey
are kailh box switches fixed yet?
Christopher Stewart
is there a non-ortho 40% kit that has hot swap mounts?
Jackson James
>Budget 130 usd >Location (continent at least) burgerland >Preferred switch type >Layout ansi >Form factor 60 or 75 >Backlight white, able to be turned off >Previous/current keyboards shitty membrane keyboards, even shittier laptop keyboard
Matthew Perry
forgot to mention cherry mx blue switches
Christian Cook
>Kailh fixing anything ever
Robert Moore
>Budget $100 >Location (continent at least) europe >Preferred switch type no experience with mechanical; I don't care about sound, but obv can't be too noisy. I type a lot, so I don't want to make typos >Layout us >Form factor 100% with numpad, must have mute/volume keys/buttons; must be low profile >Backlight rgbt, yes >Previous/current keyboards logitech k290, it's shit as fuck
I've been loking at pic related, HAVIT HV-KB395L but it has no media keys and I'm not sure about that detachable cable, I move my keyboard a lot and I don't want to fuck my port too soon. I'd gladly buy something like microsoft surface, but with leds, wired and space between F keys and delete/insert section
>mykeyboard.eu/catalogue/vortex-g104-iso-mx-clear-without-keycaps_22/ I have an IKBC keyboard with mx clears, supposedly it is the same factory as vortex or something like that, it feels pretty solid and I love it, not very tactile but fells way better than browns, it came with really good pbt keycaps plain looking but good feeling.
Jason Reyes
Thanks man Got a switch tester so I was set on clears Ordered it now, got it without caps because the font on the stock ones made me genuinely angry Ordered some PBT Tai Hao instead, should be pretty nice
Josiah Sanders
I get a boner whenever I find out about complex switches. Besides hall effect, what other switches are complex?
Wait i d e a >do unboxing video in fedora and hacker glasses like youtube.com/watch?v=qY3ACNpFoMs >act like a koreaboo >make that a separate video >actual review video will review the keyboard from the perspectives of regular consumers vs. autismos like me vs. people who would actually need something like this
Dilly, if it ever goes back in stock I'm also considering building my own with 27 keys because a dilly is too big, and I'll probably end up with extra PCBs because minimum order is 5 where I'm looking at right now. That's not a promise for anything since I might take a couple months to actually get around to it, but you could also do the same yourself, it's like $50 per order.
Evan Cooper
>Dilly Damn, that's exactly what I'm looking for too.
David Rogers
>Bought pic related. >First time buying a mechanical keyboard. Picked up the cherry brown version. >I wasn't looking for any macros nor rgb, though having led backlight was nice. >Was the cheapest one I could buy that wasn't a chinese piece of shit. How bad did I fuck up? How much can I expect it to live?
Most people don't like browns at all, but remember that all switches are purely subjective. There are people who genuinely prefer the feel of $5 rubberdomes.
David Reyes
Why are 40% keyboards so expensive? I can get a 60% with rgb and a usb-c cable for like $60, and yet they seem to make you pay MORE for something with less fucking buttons and static backlight?
Are there any cheap ones you guys would mind pointing me to?
Ryder Russell
They're a niche product. Of course something produced in higher numbers is going to be cheaper.
Jeremiah Kelly
SA on tactile switches feels like a children's McDonalds keyboard.
Nathaniel Jenkins
No one can prove this wrong.
Nathaniel Johnson
Post pics of this mcdonald's keyboard you've used user.
Evan Peterson
Just got the Roccat SUORA It has browns in it, my favorite keys Anyone else like Roccat products? I've had their kone mouse for several years. I like how their hardware is decently open and they have linux drivers

where can i buy a not-so-pricey board with gateron reds? so far, amazon, newegg, aliexpress and banggood have all failed me. I'm at a loss.

>Budget £70 but I'll increase the budget only if it's necessary to get a good quality keyboard. >Location UK >Preferred switch type I've tried MX Blue and MX Clear. Blue is too loud and Clear too difficult to press. I think I would like a linear switch that doesn't gradually increase in force. >Layout UK >Form factor TKL or smaller >Backlight Not necessary. >Previous/current keyboards Pok3r and Majestouch 2 TKL. I liked the keyboard quality but not the switches.
I'm thinking iKBC New Poker II is a good choice.
Nicholas Jackson
>>Location >UK ouch Cooler Master with red switches is the only reasonable keyboard you have.
Angel Lee
No they literally do not. Look up "gateron red keyboard" on amazon.ca and you will see exactly what i mean.
I idly press a loose defective box navy when i'm bored. It's a bad habit.
Charles Johnson
by the way, i'm curious; If I removed the clickbar from a box switch, would it then be a working linear?
Eli Price
I think I'll just increase my budget. Is Leopold a good choice? I think I heard that their keyboards are the only ones with stock PBT spacebars.

Where can I buy one 2u plate mount stabilizer at the absolute cheapest? I don't want to pay 8$ for a full set, I need just 1.
John Sanders
>£70 but I'll increase the budget only if it's necessary to get a good quality keyboard >TKL or smaller Tada68 for like £76
>I think I would like a linear switch that doesn't gradually increase in force. Gateron or box linears are good, but like almost every other spring based switch Hooke's Law does make it gradually move difficult to press. I only know of Matias linears being advertised as constant force (due to a second spring compensating near the top) but you're not gonna be able to get a keyboard with them for cheap.

I ordered my F77 in beige like a year ago, but now I'm looking at the photos and I'm wondering if maybe grey doesn't look better after all. Opinions? Also were there any grey original 4704s, or is it an adaptation of the Industrial SSK scheme?
