It's not 2007 anymore. If you still post this shit you probably have never used GNU/Linux at any capacity. Just sayin'.

I don't use arch. in fact it's my least favorite distro but this never happened to me and if it was an issue back then it's gone now. quit being such a fucking shithead

yikes
Not even X is using that anymore and it's time to move to wayland

I used arch for almost a year and I never had that problem. I use gentoo now

OP go fuck yourself and delete this pointless thread.

why would you inflict that on someone else?

arch doesn't do this, it's a decently stable system, just bloated.
t. slackware user

But Gentoo and Arch are not even similar. The reasons you would want to use them are entirely separate. Are you sure you've used GNU/Linux before? Sounds like you're just posting memes for the sake of it.

seeing how pacman won't overwrite conf files that have been user edited,
wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman/Pacnew_and_Pacsave
why not just add an extra # to your xorg, conf
That way pacman won't touch it.
You know like, if that's actually ever been a problem.
But it hasn't been a problem, has it?
Your just another sour grapes fox who couldn't install Arch, aren't you?
You pathetic little twerp.

Gentoo is for those who want a minimal and customizable OS. Arch is for those who want that but can't install Gentoo, so instead they do all kind of mental gymnastics to delude themselves into thinking this laughable, pathetic, miserable joke of a systemd-only distro is minimal and customizable.

No. That is incorrect. You've failed on point one. Why are you here?
You know you can be banned for such a low quality post, right?

>You know you can be banned for such a low quality post, right?

gentoo is just bsd for linux
thats it
its a bunch of people who were like "bsd is cool and the the linux kernel is cool so we're gonna make a linux distro that behaves like a bsd system!"
thats the entire point
>portable
>emerge is literally just ports for linux
>openrc is FUCKING OPEN RC
>RC
>THE BSD INIT

h8rs BTFO

you're thinking of slackware you fucking idiot. the only thing gentoo related in your post is emerge and openrc. portabillity can count for both. you clearly never used it but you're acting like you know everything about it you fucking twat

OK. So you've talked me into crossing gentoo off the things I want to install list. I've already wasted about 3 weeks on BSD that I'll never get back.

"You're thinking of slackware you twat"
im literally using slackware right now and i cant believe how retarded you look

He's right though, portage is ports for Linux.
I think you're the one who never used BSD.

I agree with you, man.
But it's "you're", not "your".
You're -> You + are
Your -> Possesion

Is that facebook? Get the fuck out of here.

I've been using Arch Linux for 6 years now as my daily driver. Never happened to me once. I had more package issues on Ubuntu in 2 years than all 6 years with Arch Linux combined.

>hahahaha my discord buddy thinks his dum so hes dum

LE MIGHTY DISCORD HAS SPOKEN LE XD
Seriously, kill yourself. I don't know whose side you're on, but please kys.

',:^ j

Literally just didn't know about Gentoo. Also, I use a Chromebook as my daily driver so compiling takes forever. I'm sticking with Arch and openbsd faggot.

>gentoo is just bsd for linux
The fuck does that mean? Gentoo is an operating system that can either be based on Linux or a BSD kernel.
If you exclude the systemd-virus same applies to other distros.
Debian for example can also be based on Linux or a BSD kernel.
>emerge is literally just ports for linux
Portage is far more advanced package management system than Ports.
Moreover, emerge is an apt-like tool compared to Ports which is based on Unix tools.
>RC
>THE BSD INIT
OpenRC was made for Gentoo.
BSD init is Unix's traditional init used by most Linux distros about a decade ago and every distro when Gentoo was made.
Try installing either before making ridiculous comments such as this one.

Sorry buddy you're not Hiro it's not gonna work.

>xorg.conf in current year

I'm perfectly fine with admitting Arch has its many faults with upgrading (most recent update randomly broke my wifi so i had to roll back my kernel), but it remains a comfort pick nonetheless solely because it's the distro I started with.

> BSD init is Unix's traditional init used by most Linux distros
> Unix's
> Linux distros
Ur a lol.

you retarded friend?
yes it was written from scratch but its based off of bsds rc init, hence the name

You can use systemd with Gentoo, it even has official support.

Xorg never breaks nowadays.
Well if you happen to use proprietary Nvidia drivers it's your problem.
Arch has been less buggy than any other distro for me, except for Slackware and Debian Stable but it's too old for my laptop.

>most recent update randomly broke my wifi so i had to roll back my kernel
It's almost like new software has bugs. Woah.

Why did they break python on Arch?

>discord
what a fucking faggot

is there any reason not to use the lts linux kernel?

Yes, using the Linux-libre kernel.

>half the (You)'s tell me im right
>the other half call me retarded for using discord

i've missed Jow Forums

in what way is it broken

google as a verb "linux kernel version numbers explained"
The 3rd number is drivers and shit, the 4th number is patchlevel.
Using the ubernewest kernel release is just exposing yourself to higher risk of a regression.
Is all your hardware is supported on lts? OK, Your good.

>Ur a lol.
Underage.
You didn't read my comment?
rc.d was used once by every major Linux distro as well.
And you know why? Because both are fucking Unix.
Gentoo devs wanted to improve the init system and OpenRC was made.
Potter had his own concept of improvement and systemd was made.
BSD devs don't give a fuck and changed nothing. (Or have they? No idea.)

don't have to mess with xorg.conf, xinit.d, etc. thanks to systemd.

>half the (You)'s tell me im right
stop samefagging
>the other half call me retarded for using discord
because you're

I'm not denying it, I'm enjoying it.

so user was systemd created because people wanted a faster boot process?

That's nice, sweetie. How about becoming a big boi and giving arguments?

Might be the guy who was all over Jow Forums about 6 months ago wondering why half of his shit didn't work after he spent half a day making python 3.5 his system default.

only brainlets manage to fuck up their Arch setup

Nice b8

Shit was supposed to reply to .

Question:
I don't has printer so I disabled cupsd.
If I run service --status-all
I see cups and that it's not running
If I run systemctl list-units --type service
I don't see cups.
-l or --all appended still don't show cups.
How do I systemctl show cups?
>Other that that little issue, I welcome our new systemd overlord.

>list-units
only loads loaded units, since you disabled it obviously systemd didn't load it, use systemctl status

that is easy to deny because people who uses arch doesn't have anybody to meet with

>only loads
only shows*

>I don't use Arch
This could mean currently. As in it was used at one point.
>This never happened to me
I have used Arch, and never experienced this issue

There dummy learn to read between the lines. Neither statement implied that user hadn't used Arch.

I've been using Arch for 2 years, and I've never had it break. When will this stupid meme die?

>When will this stupid meme die?
Probably never, the Ubuntu refugees are actually stupid enough to upgrade their system with a fucking bash script.

Thanks. That's useful, also after closer examination of man page, I found
systemctl list-unit-files
which is quite like "service --status-all"

systemctl list-unit-files --type [double tap TAB key]
̇͜>̇

I can, but why fucking bother?

Maybe to have a custom stable system without NSA bloat like systemd and speck.

Attached: archbotnet.png (1200x500, 32K)

Is there anyone on this planet who hasn't heard this bullshit before? Seriously, there are Mbotu pygmy tribesmen out there who've had this - only the year keeps changing.

I use Arch because I like its package managers, not because I want to """"show off"""" that I can follow a manual

reminder runit is faster
reminder void linux is the best option right now

At least you admit that you just followed the manual. Most Archfags won't admit that.
